yup, they're called taxis.. n we use hand signals to stop them, and different destinations have their own hand signs... they have particular routes and sometimes you have to exchange taxis for some destination. for a taxi to joburg (johannesburg cbd) we use the index finger to point up from almost anywhere in the province of Gauteng.
