Good video. The battery will never go totally to zero due to its clever battery management system which is what has happened in your video. The BMS was simply protecting the battery. No damage caused. Keep enjoying your Mini.
It was a bit nerve-wracking watching your video . A couple flew to Florida and picked up their mini cooper se and made a 700 mile journey to go home it was a fun video to watch . Because of that video I'm thinking of buying one.
I took mine to Hermann, MO from Kansas city and it was tense getting to Booneville in 104 miles. The charging wasn't bad When ELECTRIFY AMERICA ACTUALLY WORKED. Lots of reboots.
There is GREEN +, and more range with CC Set, but the AC would have been disabled. So there is SPORT, MID, GREEN & GREEN +. Yes 100 miles. Just under 30 kWh usable battery. 2 Regen Modes. then Dynamic, Dynamic off, Hold 3 seconds turn assistance off. 2 kWh charging on a cable. 15-16 hours.
my best range on mini was 150 miles on eco+. it was unpleasant drive at around 52-56mph and I was sweating like a pig throughout the journey. never again lol it stays as a city commuter only
No we didn't have to and this isn't a normal drive we ever take but the drive came about and it ended up being the rated range and I knew I had to try lol, yes there looks to be a charging station or 2 in Hutch Kansas but I was really hopeful after getting there with 53% remaining but the really heavy wind on the way home really killed us! Thanks for the view!
For the future - forget using the GOM/Guess O’Meter for range - select the miles/kWh display down where the %SOC is displayed - above 4m/kWhour is more than 115 miles range less is heavy use and less range. Here in Scotland in the summer on fast local roads I’m averaging 4.9-5.3m/kWh in the summer (it’s not that hot normally but at the moment it’s 24C) and 3.6-4.0miles/kWhr in the depths of winter

Hey Tyler, I'm glad that you did make it home even though it was a little scary!!! I'm still a little sceptical about electric vehicles, I know that they are the wave of the future but think that there still needs to be a lot of improvement made in range to make electric vehicles practical!!! Thanks for sharing your adventures in the Mini!!! 👍👍🙂
@@TylerPotter Hi Tyler I just thought a reasonable use of the car would have been to charge before returning home. But I guess that was not the point lol . Tfl drove their mini from Florida to Colorado with many stops .. thanks for the content.
Like Bugatti Chiron?? Same range as Bugatti and nobody with $3 million is stupid enough to take a Bugatti on a road trip. And have you ever heard someone with a Bugatti with range anxiety or complain remotely about it?? The Mini is a runabout and it works great for that purpose.
But the bright side is, from all the sweating that’s one step closer to be like Joe Raiti right lol? But I was gonna ask, the Nissan dealer you can’t charge there?
The mini is just a city car.. a commuter car. It is hard for us here in America to have a car that can only provide us with such a limited range as our distances are so vast and we think nothing of driving for 4 plus hours one way, something that in Europe is nonsensical, unless you are going to another country! The average American commute is around 20 to 25 miles per day and as such.. the mini could in theory take you back and forth to work for a week with one full charge ... now, thinking about using that very same mini for a weekend get away... better have another option....
I think you would need to charge twice. For the 3 days’ worth of driving you would use 75 miles and Mini recommends keeping the battery between 10 and 80%
Here's what I don't get; if the car is only going to have 114 miles of range, why on earth did they hamper it with slow 50kw level 3 charging speeds? It's a tiny battery. If they allowed it to charge at 200 kw, then you could find a level 3 charger and in 10 minutes get it up to 80% charge. But not only is the range terrible, but it's slow to charge. They HAVE to fix this in the next mini cooper. I have the 2019 Mini Cooper Countryman PHEV. While the 17 miles of range is tiny, it serves me well on short trips and I only have to fill up my tiny 9.5 gallon tank once a month.
I totally agree with you but it was still pretty impressive that even at 75mph with the AC on the whole time it still did the rated range and even slightly more. I wish I would have been cycling the AC on and off during the drive as that would have saved a little more power. Thanks for the view!
@@TylerPotter If that's what you want to tell yourself...lol....J/K I had noticed she was with you and thought she was when all went to heck with the car...I guess my over observation backfired....Have a great evening and keep up the awesome posting!
By chance is the center guts that you removed on the TRX same as a 2012 Ram 1500 front door.....A deer hit our work truck and smashed the center of the driver's door so was going to try and pop it out of possible....
Of course it died, you completely ignored what the car was saying! Thankfully no one was hindered or put in any danger by you coming to an entirely predictable stop on the highway.
