Clearly, he didn't want to play under Southgate and his team. If he wants to play under the new management, why not. Southgate could have resolved the issue but didn't. Surely having him available is a good thing?
I think everyone agrees. He's a melt and shouldn't have turned his country down. But southgate has gone, and it should be up to the next manager to make his decision
@hyywe240 A melt, really? He went to represent his country, and one of the coaching staff was going in on him for not liking football outside of playing it. That's not on. Even conor coady said it was uncomfortable for the players present at the time.
@Denlar96 where did you hear that? I think it's known that he argued with Steve Holland but haven't heard anything about it being because he doesn't like football. But if that's the reason. He's a melt
First caller is spot on 👏🏼👏🏼 love how all these pundits think they have the right to tell another man what he can and can’t do with his life. And all of it is speculation anyway as no one actually knows what happened, and if it turns out Ben White is completely in the right, then what…because I know I’d rather have his talent in and around the England squad the worry about if he got on with a manager. That ironically all these pundits slagged off and butchered throughout the Euros anyway. Flip flops 🤡
@jackrobinson-wq2jn you clearly only watch arsenal play, tino will be England rb for the next 10 years. He's unbelievably good and very young. Ben White is a 7/10 player good and solid but never will be top class and not what you want if you want to win world cups or euros
Hey O'Hara, take off your Spurs hat. There's no report out there that Ben White had problems with the players...there's speculation, however, that he had problems with the coaching staff. Now that they are gone, he's made himself available. If the new England coach decides not to pick him, fine. But give the guy a break. Unlike many people, he had the guts to say "No" to a coach he didn't like. Learn from Ben White instead of slagging him.
O'Hara with an L take. If White returns to England, it clearly shows that there was an issue between player and manager/manager's team. England needs its best players in the squad and if White can put in a shift, he needs to be in that squad.
Ben White apparently does not like football, which means he does not really care if he plays for England or not. After watching Southgate voluntarily throwing the European Cup away playing a guy who was quite clearly after personal glory in Kane at the expense of the team, why should he feel otherwise?
Everyone have a choice to chose to play or not for their country. The England manager has the choice to chose who they pick regardless of form. This is not a war one volunteer to represent their country to fight against their enemy. Southgate is a clearly favouritism certain players regardless of form.
@@smash284 there should be no sides to the argument. Everyone should stay out of it because nobody knows the truth and either way, it’s his decision to make.
He was disrespected by the staff so if he didn’t feel comfortable there he has no obligation to under the old regime now there gone he should be able to return to a more comfortable environment for him
Exactly. I'd still like to know the specifics but in general I see no issue with him coming back. He isn't good enough when everyone is for to be fair lol
@@Glen38 I said one of. Walker is better but how much longer will he play for England and TAA is not a better defender. Hes more technically gifted and his range of passing is unbelievable. He should be a wing back
ben white has been the most consistent english RB for the last 2 yrs simple. might not be world class but its consistent performances you need and perfect link up with saka aswell
Ben White was sent home in the middle of the tournament. You don't do that unless the issue is so big. The issue remained unresolved, as well. Resolving this issue is not on Ben White, who was punished, in his view unfairly, now pretending that Ben White didn't want to represent his country is dishonest of the highest order. Ben White has the right to return to England as soon as he is picked by the new manager.
Jamie o Hara doesn't even have one cap under his name. So I kinda understand why it may be so honourable to get picked. If Gerrard, Lampard,Carrick, and whole other guys had refused to play for England, he still wouldn't have maked it to the squad
The fact of the matter is he didn't want to play for the last management group! Why should he or anyone feel uncomfortable in a working environment weather they are getting paid or otherwise. And again lets be honest if he does make himself available i would put good money on the next manager picking him because hes one of the best in the world at what he does. As regards to the players they will all no what happened and it obviously wasn't a slur against the squad
U can c how walker performed at the euros, we r not sure bout trent defensively. But in white, u have a connection with him and england’s best winger in saka
If he thought he wasn’t going to get any game time like some of the others that deserved it then I’m not surprised he didn’t want to go. They do treat it like a job rather than a privilege but that’s football now.
Im pretty sure many English players have "retired" for England but still carried on playing for their clubs. Scholes is a great example. But nothing said about that. Ben White made a scapegoat by the football media.
It is as straight forward as switching it off and on. He had a falling out with management and didn’t want to play for them. A new team comes in and he gets picked he’ll play. A lot of pearl clutching going on here
Show me someone who wants to play for their country but won't because of a falling out with someone who works there, and I'll show you someone who doesn't care if they play for their country or not. They're grown men, and any differences should've been sorted out rather than taking the ball and going home.
It will be a first big win for the New England manager to speak to White and then announce him in the squad. And everyone will praise his man management.
hindsight is a wonderful thing, but, if james and chilwell would have been fully fit, would southgate had played them behind gordon and palmer!!!?? no chance!!!
How are they saying "you are chosen" but are still claiming he shouldn't play when the next manager picks him ?! Bunch on clowns .. it's actually great that England didn't win because these guys don't deserve good things at all
If it was club they would get rid of Ben. I don’t blame Ben I think he save himself from not allowing Colgate to mess with his confidence because he still wouldn’t use him in any of the games.
If Ben White can do a job for England he should be picked, take the personalities out of it, do England need him, get him, if not so what. Kane did not look like he was fighting for anyone in the Euros.
In my opinion, which isn't worth much, there are a couple of ways to view the Ben White situation The first is that the player wasn't happy with something/someone and decided he no longer wanted to be a part of the situation. Subsequently he refused to play for his country and if this is down to a players ego and the whole thing is about player power, you have to wonder what would happen if Arteta or memeber of staff in club football upset White, would he then refuse to play for his club? The other scenario, which i hope is wrong, is that whatever was said/done to White in the England camp was so upsetting that he couldn't bare to be a part of it. I would like to think this isn't true because Southgate publicly defended his staff and said nothing had happened. So if something bad has happened, then Southgate along with the members of his staff would need to be investigated, along with the FA for covering it up. Also the other England players who were part of the group would have been guilty of not standing up/helping Ben White and choosing to remain quiet in order to further their own careers. So it's either the player's ego and attitude that's the problem or a lot of people need to get investigated.
Zlatan, Cruyff, Eto'o, Breitner, Schuster, Pele. Grow up Jamie! There is a rich history of players saying no to their country. Focus on the Why and not the What. The boy scout Southgate clearly lied about what happened between White & the Cone man. Read between the lines.
That’s not what he said. He said he didn’t grow up watching it on tv and doesn’t watch other games in his spare time because he’d rather switch off and be with family.
Did Steve Holland ever call Harry Kane 'an aging forward with the pace of a geriatric tortoise?' Did he ever call John Stones 'a defender that would make opposition strikers salivate with anticipation'? Did he ever call Guehi ' a trumped up Palace defender who wouldn't get into a match day squad at Arsenal'?? The test of all the players who remained is insulting them brutally in front of their peers in ways that make them want to put a fist through the fat aging apparatchik's skull. Until they have been insulted the way White was, there's absolutely no comparison between situations......
how do you know they didn't, also Ben White was challenged effectively - he shied away from that challenge that you don't have to watch footy to be a good footy player. Prove it in training, prove it in matches for England - prove him wrong. instead it was wahhhhhhh wahhhhhhhh i'm gonna run away now, don't wanna play for England cause i can't handle criticism.
Wasn’t Ben white on banch for England last World Cup? He was not even given single chance to com on at the time! Com on guys! He did the right thing! May situation may have escalated as it is now! He tried but he was not treated right!
Most people wanted Southgate gone mid tournament and we saw how it turned out.Dont you think Ben white looks smart now ... And by the way we didn't loose it over our Right back selection either !
I'm probably the last generation that believes it's not for money I used to dream of seeing myself in a white shirt in a number 7 shirt or just be there like every other young lad I belive it's just sad , emegan the whole country watching u and making your family and the country so proud it's the peak of what u work for I only made reserves at league 2 but I didn't stop believing
Who cares? He isn’t a missing piece in the jigsaw. He has made his choice and if he doesn’t want to represent England, that’s fine. I don’t understand why this is even a story. If we were talking about Bellingham, Kane, Rice etc…. Actual key players.
I think you need to consider that playing for their country isn’t everyone’s dream. jadon sancho walked out on Man U & said he’d come back when Ten hag went. Didnt hear you saying much about that. Not sure you have the right to criticise someone for their choices.
Also if Ben white has 3 magnificent seasons as the best rb in the league then he'll definitely be picked again. A trophy means alot more for england then these silly politics
Bottom line is management team should know what to say and how to talk to players, how would you know maybe if the same had happened to any other they would have felt the same way as ben white
i wouldnt play for southgate either, he hasnt got a clue, Gordon and Palmer, left and right wingers were 2 of the best players in the PL last season who both had the best seasons of their lives so far, so he leaves em on the bench!!!! clueless Sir Gareth!!!! lol
Why do people care so much? Does anyone truly think Ben white could have been the difference maker in that last tournament? Definitely not! So who cares if he plays for England or not he's not a key player and we have other players in that position
Why is everyone blaming Southgate, every England manager has had problems with a player in the past (Hoddle and Gazza and Le tissier, Taylor and Lineker) some people just dont get on and its not just an England thing i remember years ago Cantona refused to play for France because Houllier. Its life, personally i think White is garbage but thats my opinion!
Maybe it’s down to Ben whites desire? I mean we’re talking about someone who doesn’t even watch football. So clearly doesn’t really care about it or England, so maybe it’s best he turns it down as he doesn’t have the right passion/attitude
O’Hara talks like someone with very little sense. Has any England player told him that he would be against Ben White coming back into the England setup if called upon by the new manager? Is it any of his 3 Arsenal colleagues who are on the team or is it any of the others who have said so? O’Hara don’t project your insecurities onto others
