It feels like the start of a movie I’ve seen before.

This story centers the Bennett siblings: Addy, Chester and Rue.
ADDY is on the cheerleading squad with her childhood friend, AJ. Although she is popular and it seems like she’s got everything figured out, she is actually coming to terms with being a lesbian. She was in a hidden relationship with her sister’s friend, Deena, and feels as though she has to choose between the two.
CHESTER recently came out as non-binary. They've always felt more comfortable communicating online or through the phone. They met Marcus through Rue and Deena, and hasn’t taken their eyes off him since, regardless of the two having had their ups and downs. Nonetheless, they keep coming back to one another.
RUE has been experimenting with drugs for years and it wasn’t until she found herself in a situationship with her sister’s best friend, AJ, that the Bennett family began realizing how far gone her condition truly was. Rue’s addiction not only affected her personal relationships, but her siblings experiences with Rue inadvertently impacted their connections with their significant others.
DEENA is struggling with coming to terms that the girl she loves is adamant on keeping their relationship a secret and goes to parties to drive Addy from her mind.
AJ is homeless and has only told Addy, until Rue accidentally saw her sleeping in a school bus on campus. She’s supported Rue in her journey through sobriety, since she experienced living with her mother who was an addict. It wasn’t until Rue accused her of emotionally and physically abandoning her in a diner that she finally reclused from their friendship but the guilt still remains.
MARCUS self-medicates with weed and alcohol to cope with manic depression. His behavior has been driving everyone away but Rue because they have similar experiences with mental health, unbeknown to the people around him. This intensified after his argument with Chester when they fought over him encouraging Rue's drug habits and not seeing the issues at hand.
*The timeline is generally meant to be interpretative. The grayscale represents the siblings before their friendships intertwined. The blues represent everything leading up to Rue’s intervention. And the browns represent Rue (and her family) in recovery.

If you subscribe to me or have seen my community posts, my laptop has a mind of its own and sometimes the battery works and other times it needs to be chucked out a four-story window. I’m surprised it lasted two hours to render this vid. This is why the scenes are choppy, the flow’s kinda jagged in the middle, and the coloring in some aspects are off. Working with what I got here LOLLLL.
I went on a six-month journey with these characters and I’d love to work on them in the future if the right song comes my way. I tapped into my own experiences of growing up as a teenager who was a bi/pan woc struggling with mental health. glaad.org/reso...
Addiction doesn’t just affect the addict, but their loved ones and their personal relationships as well. drughelpline.org
