Best gun that fits my hands are standard 92's with the old fashion Pachmayr wrap around grips. I wish someone could replicate those grips for my vertec. I bought the Vertec cause it was a really nice gun and came with Wilson combat thin grips, but didn't realize it wasn't the best fit for my hands till after a day of shooting. If I cant find a suitable set of wrap around grips for it I may have to end up selling it.
Check these grips out from LokGrips lokgrips.com/hidden-for-missing-new-items/beretta-92x-vertec-veloce-wraparound/ I think they will take care of making your gun fit your hand.
A PX4, compact carry specifically, fits my hand like they were made for each other. I have, carry, and shoot other guns but nothing has matched my hands quite as well as a PX4.
You will not be disappointed... absolutely LOVE my PX4s! IMHO, the PX4 Compact/Compact Carry hits the sweet spot - a perfect balance of shootability, size, & capacity. My PX4 Compact never leaves my side :)
Thank you for putting out this PSA. I has totally impressed that you did not recommend that someone shoot a pistol first prior to purchasing one. Every firearms instructor repeats this without thinking that the overwhelming pistol rentals have a very slim selection and have an outdated inventory. Looking forward to seeing more Langdon Tactical Firearms at my local Cabela's store.
I went through this many years ago when I firsy got into handgins. I went all in on the Gen 3 Glock and the trigger reach was too long for me and I had to shift my grip. I refused to accept ot though since Glock was "perfection" ya know. Finally I gave on and strted exploring different handguns. Today I prefer DA/SA which is a challenge due to the trigger reach of the forst DA pull. Thanks to LTT thin grips and the MC short reach trigger, the Beretta 92 works perfect for me. As for striker guns, the M&P eneded up working best for me.
Sadly, living in Massachusetts (MA), finding a decent "salable" firearm is THE PROBLEM. I have longed to buy several of LTT's models e.g. Beretta 92 Elite LTT Compact; however, MA dealers cannot sell them. If only I could convince my wife to move to a free state.
Trigger reach is not an issue for me but moving the finger so far back to get to the break curls my finger or I'm on the second phalange. It'd be great if the break could be moved forward like the reduction on reach available for some Berettas.
You can make the trigger reach longer. For example you could use Beretta's ExtremeX trigger and that would make the trigger reach further forward and may help a quite a bit.
Forget about "fitting to your hands". Go to a good range w/ rental guns and find you you can easily shoot well and deal with the recoil impulse and get BACK on target for follow-up shots. Fitting your hand well means NOTHING if you cannot shoot it well.
