Welcome back to BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐 The moment I heard that vocaloid (Hatsune Miku) style i knew Yuyoyuppe (aka YuppeMetal) was behind this song which also reminds me a lot to Kagerou, and no wonder why, he's the one behind that song too and he gives that BM style unique sound in songs like Karate, Rondo Of Nightmare, Megitsune and Monochrome from this same album. MoaMetal is also a fan of his work despite the ridiculous time signatures that torture them lol We also got the first full English lyrics of this new album after a while and the first time released in Japan. They already got three songs entirely in English but those were released internationally. Part of this was written and recorded 5 years ago, like they said, this is a collaboration between past and present selves, and is about the fact that you don’t see the same thing that others see, the English lyrics express a different personality and pov. One of my fave songs from the new album.... This is definitely a statement to fans about their growthand path for the future, the seasons change, we are not the same. Love it. And the Tatu feel, have me 90s flashbacks. 😅😅😅🤘🦊🤘

This concept album is just incredible imo and so cohesive too wich was a point they were criticized in the past for being "too chaotic" for some so it's clever that more than 10 years after this band still proves once again why they are at the top, it feels like every song we're going into a journey full of intricate themes, I particularly love Believing & also Mirror Mirror from this album, it has such an industrial imagery behind it, weirdly haunting as well. BABYMETAL is pure art, there are so many aspects that imo gets unnoticed at first but after you dig it the songs becomes even more powerful.

Good reaction. 'Believing' definitely has a message to some fans about the fact things change, they change, we change and they are not going back to the way they were. This song has been in the pipeline for something like 5 years and they even used some part that was recorded back then. This is only the second song they have released that is entirely in English and without a Japanese version. Talking of which, the other song was on the international edition of the second album and is called 'From Dusk Till Dawn'. A reaction to the live Budokan 2021 performance for that would blow you mind I think. You don't seem to have a reaction posted for 'The Legend' which is the final track of this album ... and you only have two reactions for older songs so far I think, so more of their older songs would be fun to watch you discover.

I was lucky enough to be there for this world premiere performance and it went soooooo hard! It instantly became my favourite track on the album. The effect they're using on Su's voice is called Vocaloid; it's a popular effect in Japanese music. The band PassCode uses it extensively in their songs. The guitarists for this performance are Chris Kelly and CJ Masciantonio; they both used to be in a band called Galactic Empire, and they played guitar with Star Wars helmets on, so the Kami masks aren't anything new for them.

Great reaction as always, thanks! I hope your version sounded better than this because it sounds really weird specially on bass range (probably intended). And yes, it needs further explanation. Su explained in an interview that they composed and recorded this song around 2018. And 2018 was a really tough year for them with all the drama about Yui not being able to perform, Mikio's untimely passing and all the changes they were forced to make. Some fans didn't take it well (and this is an euphemism). So, many of us believe that the lyrics are a direct missive to all them. 🤘🦊

I'm wondering what scale/mode is being used at various points in this song. Thinking specifically of the solo later on... I feel like some sort of Hungarian minor or maybe even a Phrygian?

Yes, Su-metal sings so clear, which is a large part of why we like her. 🙂
