I’m sure that everyone in that choir has to be disciplined because if they weren’t, it would be chaotic and Minister Dillard wouldn’t have it any other way!

Black gospel choirs learn music by rote. Culturally, it's an extension of negro spirituals where slaves sang repetitive songs while working, often with hidden messages on how to escape to freedom. This choir is following specific signals from the director on what to sing. He can improvise and stretch this song out 15 minutes if he wanted to, and the choir will follow him.

Rickey protege was the late great Benny Cummings. He was a very animated director (Who was way before his time) Rickey is actually doing Benny Cummings version of this song. Not to take anything from Ricky Dillard because we all know he too is well crafted in his art... TeaJà Stapp crazy this is Ricky will get most of the credit - but it’s the CHOIR who has to really really pay attention. The littlest mistake is magnified in a song like this.

This rendition was arranged by dr. Walt Whitman of the soul children of chicago (dr. Ricky Dillard hometown). But with that one the Sopranos had their solo on the chorus before the Altos, but Dr. Dillard did that.
