Michael Sullivan, Organ Dobin Park, Piano It Is Well with My Soul Based on VILLE DU HAVRE by Philip P. Bliss Arr.by David Schwoebel June 28th, 2020 St. John's United Church of Christ Newport, Kentucky
This song was played at my Grandfather’s funeral service. He was sure of where he was going to be. It is the same for us. We can all be well if we just believe in the Lord Jesus. Peace.
Amen! So true. We sang this hymn at all my grandparents’ funerals, my dad’s, my sister’s, and very recently my mom. They all passed much too young. It’s definitely been very hard and right now it’s just brutal at times. I know where they are and they all looked forward to seeing Jesus face to face. Jesus is what gets me through each day. One day I too will be with Him and all my loved ones again.
That's exactly what I was thinking! Worshipping my entire life, standing in the between my parents, listening to their harmonies, and being so proud that I was their daughter! This is one of my favorite hymns. What a magnificent gift from these two masters! ♥️
Absolutely breathtaking. One of the best duets I've ever heard of this powerful hymn. I am not kidding when I say that as I was listening to this, I thought to myself, "I hope that it sounds like this when we worship God in the eternities one day." Thank you!!
@@aslscott78 It doesn't seem odd to me since it's fairly standard to play one or the other in the vast majority of worship settings, and so playing them together is really the anomaly. That said, it really comes down to preference, and that gets us to a deep dive into why we find anything at all to be beautiful and artful. It's seldom purely a matter of choice and often not something the consciousness is privy to. Maybe it's better just to say, it's not my cup of tea. Or, maybe more accurately, I have a taste for tea in the genre that's not often served. :)
If you loved this, watch another called Hugh Bonniville Christmas Concert. It is well with my soul. It is so beautiful that it brought me to tears. Enjoy
One of the most beautiful hymns ever penned. Horatio Spafford's inspiration for the song is truly heartbreaking. The faith the man had to be able to say "It is well with my soul", is astounding.
Many thanks for this outstanding setting of this faith-affirming hymn, written by Spafford in circumstances which were anything but encouraging. You play with wonderful lyricism and control, thank you. I enjoyed the way in which the melody passed between the two of you - and the varying dynamics of the piece, too. Blessings from the UK.
Awesome playing, guys. I have always wanted to use my iPad in my performances, so have always felt that "there's a first for everything" moment during a difficult song. You don't fear that? Love your style, Dobin. The piano is only made beautiful by the person playing. You certainly proved that, for sure!
Thank you for sharing one word for the musicians BRAVO and thank you for your talents and taking this wonderful song to heart When I play this song I can tell you at the end I am shaking like a leaf I hope you will do more duets on wonderful music of honor to the Lord. Pax+
