It is insane how people in the usa think and dont realize what is really happening, food prices are never ever coming down in fact they will get worst... Let me put it to you in this way I been living outisde usa for 20 years and wealth has been shifting world wide particulary to asia the most populated area in the world and they want the same standards of living as the west, a popoulation of 8 billion going into 9 china understand this they gifted my mom country a library for free heck no, to secure land water and food rights, second using slave or undocumented labor keeps prices artificially low but what happens if there is a problem at the border. this summer has been long and dry and when it rained it did so all at once ruining this years crops and this happening world wide, ecuador is suffering their worst drough in 6 decades and ecuador send alot of food to the usa.... If you think this is expensive you have seem nothing yet

Another thing I have noticed is if I eat out too much I get sick. I have been eating at home mostly this whole year. I have learned it is cheaper in the long run. What you need to do is make your experience at home better than your experience eating out and you will never look back. Been making my coffee at home and completely stopped buying coffee out because my coffee is better at home then takeout.

Just the thought of dealing with traffic congestion, the "stop and go" traffic signals, sitting down at a table on a chair and wondering: "Who farted on this chair?", "how well is this table wiped down and clean?" "what kind of disturbance will occur inside this place"? And wondering just how fresh and REAL this food is in this place. I won't mention the loud talking of others on their phones, the constant dinging, pinging of those dang things, and the "noise, noise, noiseeeeee" in general. Me and my GSD will enjoy our peaceful, quiet dinners on the back deck, at the table or heaven forbid! sitting on the couch! Something to be said for preparing and dining at home.

If you want to save money on groceries: 1) Shop at Costco. You will make back the annual membership fee compared to regular grocery store prices after a trip or two. 2) Buy as raw ingredients as possible and cook meals in batches. E.g., buy raw chicken and cook enough for leftovers; don’t buy refrigerated, already-cooked chicken breast, which probably costs twice as much. Buy flour and sugar to bake, not packaged cakes and cookies. 3) Buy frozen fruits, vegetables, fish, etc. Frozen food is relatively low in unit cost and keeps for months. 4) Eat oatmeal for breakfast daily. Add milk and 2.5 minutes in the microwave. Put sugar, Stevia, cinnamon, fruit, or whatever other toppings you like. It’s tasty, nutritious, filling, and costs only about 10 cents per serving (for the oats, anyway) if you buy the big box of Quaker oats at Costco (~$11 for ~110 half-cup servings).

We just made an order from Walmart and it only cost us 75 for meals for the week. That included ground beef, chicken, rice, fish, and all the veggies we need to make a meal. Yes, everything is WAY more expensive, but people keep buying. Notice what foods they're getting- salmon, sweet potato fries, lamb, convenience meals- all expensive things. Even that eat 2 meals a day girl was eating what looked like a frozen pizza. The Costco kids ate everything on the Costco menu- it made a cute video which they may have made some money off of, but it shows and possibly encourages over-consumption "just to try it." Even cereal lady was bashing the cheaper store brand cereal over Cheerios- although she was hilarious and has a point, she made it seem like she'd rather pay the $6 for name brand cereal. Unfortunately most people are probably purchasing on credit cards too, which means likely adding another 25% on top if they don't pay their cards off each month. We all know most people don't. If people would buy the cheaper stuff and make more things from scratch, it would really help. Yeah, it'll be more expensive than if you bought the exact same things a few years ago, but that's the point- people are complaining about the increase in prices, yet still purchasing the most expensive items in the store! If people stop buying the luxury and/or name brand items, their grocery bills would go way down!

Nowadays, I taught Mom how to use the iPad for flyer app. For brand names, we only buy when they are on sale and buy enough until the next round of sales. If not, we wait. Supermarkets in my area price match and with a digital flyer app, the search tool is a time and money saver. Make a grocery list, make a list, and make a list.... then shop off of that list with your flyer savings. Also, eat before going shopping. JJ, chips at Costco is an awesome deal vs family size from traditional grocery stores, plus they go on sale too.... a double dip in savings.
