IMO - I won't be shopping there any time soon. It seems like the cost of living has risen dramatically since the influx of people fleeing their blue states. Now, there appears to be a mass exodus. Wait till the dust settles to see if the situation improves overall.
😢This is just so sad for these People. Its not about shaming them and repeating the same thing over and over. Have a Heart ❤ and Help as much as you can in times like this. If it was you or I you would want People to Help you and have a heart, easy to sit behind a computer and judge but being in this disaster is truly devastating. 😢 Prayers and Love to Everyone suffering from this Storm 🙏🏼💕
Thank you. I live in Pasco and my mom and I left for Kissimmee with our eight cats to be safe. We came back to have a home. I am so sorry for those who have lost everything during this storm.
This likely wasn't a flood zone. In Florida developers can petition to get an area rezoned. They do this because no one wants to buy a new house with a flood insurance requirement. So to make the houses more desirable, land that was previously a swamp is now not a flood zone. It's developed, people move in, it floods. And often the new neighborhood changes the flood planes so surrounding neighbors that never flooded are suddenly flooding. This is what deregulation and lack of oversight looks like. Thousands of new homes in flood prone land and the owners are the ones bearing all the burden. The builder leaves and pays DeSantis his cut.
I see the highway in the picture. Those roads usually higher to protect transfer of necessary items. Meaning anything lower is a basin. Where will that water go?
They're probably in an X flood zone and could have had flood insurance for about $500-$1000 or so a year through the NFIP. $250,000 for the dwelling and $100,000 for contents goes a long way. Homeowners insurance doesn't cover flood damage which is rising water. If their insurance agent didn't offer them a flood policy the agent could be liable for their losses due to what is called errors and omissions.
@@MikeMane-ex1vf Very few home insurers provide flood insurance. 78% of flood insurance sold in the US is insurance underwritten by the US Government National Flood Insurance Program. Now it might look like an agent is selling this insurance, but they only write the policy and do not underwrite the insurance. The NFIP is the indemnifier and the NFIP pays the claim money to the Insurance company to pay the claim. The NFIP is supposed to operate from the premiums, but the reality is that in the last 7 or 8 years, the premiums have not covered the claims, and when that happens, the US taxpayers pay the shortfall. Socialism is bad... Until you benefit from it I guess. The NFIP almost did not get re-funded in September, but it offered a plan to congress to restructure the way the rates are set, and this will move the fast majority of the rate collections to the US costal areas, where the vast majority of claims have been made in recent years, so people in Florida can expect big rate increases, and complain a they might, I don't want to be living in Texas and subsidizing insurance for people living along the Texas gulf coast much less the Florida costs. Anyway, most flood insurance is underwritten by a non-profit US government program. Like I say, socialism is bad... until you need it for yourself.

@nicktru93 OK, I've lived here in central Florida for over 50 years and 17 years just north of Tampa. I realize my comment might bruise your Feelings about the situation and others. I was in the direct path and feel fortunate to have evacuated. Now, while I clean up my many fallen tree limbs, repair siding and other fun stuff with NO power (Wednesday) and HELP others around me, as we share stories and labor to clean up, I may Feel a little like making light of the Tragedy by my comments.
Am done living in florida, this is a mess, can't buy, can't go out,and it just gets worst over the years. Bye bye Florida thanks for the mental stress 😢
Says someone who doesn’t own property or a heart. Do you not understand when you speak this way about your fellow man the things that will come around right back at you? In the Far east they call it karma but there are more accurate words.
This is why I hate the current prices for houses, they cost TOO much for the price for disaster especially on these back to back hurricanes/flooding... Florida continues to completely neglect their infrastructure.
and I think you can thank our Governor for that. instead of worrying about the people, promoting flood proof infrastructure and forcing slumlords to comply and cheapen their rates he's been on an anti-gay binge whining about people that haven't done a single thing to him as well as his failed presidency run that went absolutely nowhere ON TOP OF his recent failure of trying to take away state parks so he can put pickleball courts and other rich bullshit touristy traps so he can recuperate his ailing ego after he lost the candidate pick I absolutely do not know why so many people blindly vote for people like Ron. this has to be either young people are avoiding votes so the lead-posioned gentrified old people can vote blindly or there's a huge amount of un-informed voters that simply could care less if their house suddenly cannot get coverage one day because all of the insurance companies pulled out because they aren't making boat-loads of cash due to their outdated-ass way of accumulating the insurance money
This, the governer veto'd a ton of infrastrure projects that would have prevented a lot of these types of situations. Rick Scott neglected too. FL politicians are corrupt to the T.

:52 Maybe you should change your perception because that NOT completely under water .... COMPLETELY UNDER WATER MEANS YOU CANT SEE THE HOMES ANYMORE, ITS NOW AN UNDERWATER CITY
Month ago I remembering seeing dump truck after dump truck loaded with dirt dumping it into the new home construction sites along Eiland Blvd. I dont know if these builders and developers knew or cared where the run off would go....but Silver Oaks sure found out.
Lots of places in Florida are without out power guess what we have kids and can't feed them because of people over stock and using gas to keep their food good well we are low income and don't get food stamps we opened the windows the weather is nice it's not hot our roof has leak there are others having it worse and as far as food the trees that came down became our stove so stop complaining and be happy your still here it's like a camping trip. Now the people that got flooded they need the help first Helene and Milton were bad we still have a storm coming on the 19th stop worrying about power think about what you can do to help others and yourself at the same time not trying to be mean we can come together strong
30+ years of development has caused this all of Trinity that runs down into this area used to be all wetland pastors. It’s only going to get worse. The more development comes. There’s not enough drainage.
@@Psalm-31-24 I live in an apartment, so I don't have solar panels. And I'm in the UK. Here energy companies help you in setting up panels and you can also sell any excess energy you generate to these companies. And this in a country that is mostly cloudy! I just wondered why sunny Florida isn't investing in solar energy and seems to have all the power lines above ground. Best wishes if you are in a storm affected area.
@@minavaan here in Florida, people are not happy with their solar panels, it comes with a lot of headaches. We dont have any extra money to waste or invest on costly solar panels .we just live paycheck to paycheck. If I had extra money I would get solar panels and then I could find out if it is worth it.
It's because of the over building everywhere. All these local governments see is dollars. I live in Pasco County for 29 years and have seen flooding get worse every year in places it's never happened. $$$$ and greed

Too much unchecked development in Florida been going on for 5 plus years. It’s crazy how they are slapping up these crummy subdivisions…. People still paying 400,000 dollars for this crap. Development Leaders are so short sighted they only care about the next years budget and not thinking long term.?
@Elgringo521 Flooding causes more damage to property than houses blowing away . . The interior walls ha e to be stripped out because of mold and contamination from sewers backing up. The furniture and kitchen cabinets and appliances need to be replaced as well as any flooring in the house . Then the electrics have to be replaced if it was saltwater . Quite a bit more to it than power washing
Just get a political press briefing,w/ your beautiful mature governor, who knows everything, and exactly what you need to do,and, just obey his direct orders, and, his crew, they'll fix u right up? Vote oil.
Me at thailand ... Also at a a few ft elevation... Flooded for 3 months here a decade ago. And now you guys at the other end. And south of yhe sarha desert....... We had bounties on alligators.
Florida has been slowly sinking into the ocean for decades. Responsible leaders would have discouraged people from living in most parts of Florida. Florida is for vacationing. Oh well, most Americans are arrogant and always have to learn lessons the hard way.

Why do you believe that? Florida doesn't violate women's rights. In fact, I've never seen any other State treat women better than Florida does. The FEDS don't have enough money to help any American. It all went to the illegals and the war in Ukraine. ❤❤❤
What are you talking about I was pregnant and the baby was in my tube's they didn't take away my rights they saved my life. Also I was a minor I was sa at 13 got pregnant had the baby instead of abortion open adoption now my child is a adult works at a hospital top surgeon that saves lives every life matters
Gee, i guess after what happened in the Carolinas .... People still haven't learned. It kept getting higher and higher.... And then we were stuck.😂😂😂😂😂
Harris said she would fix the economy if she wins ... She has been in office for almost 4 yrs and has done NOTHING to fix the economy, only allow Biden to destroy it.
This isn't adding up! It doesn't take this long to drain the water from a hurricane, and this area is higher, not lower. I think the springs are possibly putting out more water due to tectonic movement and pressures underground due to the super-heating inside the Earth from the excessive radiation constantly hitting us now. Auroras in 49 states yesterday should wake people up. This is increasing, and it's only the beginning. Btw, that water is flowing far too fast for it to be from the hurricane. I think water is coming out of the ground, and I have a good reason to say that with confidence. People in here are dismissing these homeowners as if they are just stupid, but this area never flooded before and Florida has had so many hurricanes, even 4 in a row when I lived in the Cocoa area but areas that don't flood after all of that are pretty much flood proof, except for the coastal areas due to a storm surge. I think this also happened with Helene, water out of the ground. The amount of water to raise a river 25-30 feet overnight is just not normal. I know the atmosphere can now hold much more rain than ever before, because we have an inbound planet, but still. This doesn't make much sense, and I have been a weather nut all of my life following hurricanes, storms and floods. Im saying, it's not what they are telling you. This wont stop. Be prepared to have to leave your area suddenly, so have a prep plan. This is only the beginning, and it will get FAR worse. Your will see a real 2nd moon too, and that moon will be much bigger than the little thing there now. Dont believe me, that's ok... I hope some of you can discern what I'm telling you and get prepared. Jesus is returning, and it's not far from now so we are entering into the birthing pangs now, so these issues will be one after the other, growing in frequency and seriousness. Get right with God. God Bless you.
After 2 huge hurricanes the ground has reached total field saturation point. It cant hold anymore moisture so all waters are going sideways or pooling not going down through the soil. Such a shame.
The reality is that a) these are flood prone, b) Helene dumped a lot of water on the area as well as a ton of normal rain leaving it with historic flooding BEFORE Milton, c) the area got 16 inches of rain under 24 hrs from Milton and d) the rivers are rising due to the excess rain drainage leading to catastrophic historic flooding all around. It is the combination of these factors and no conspiracy or biblical prophecy.
I live in polk I don't blame anyone people are spoiled and people over stock and cry over the power being out and no gas to keep there meat cold I feel for the people flooded out the white house shouldn't have to call they should already be ready to help everyone matters no matter what state or side or feelings it should be put to the side
