Eli, I came here a year or so ago and was charmed by you and Kate. I have watched almost everything and I have to admit that my favorite videos include both you and Kate. Teaching is great but your love of gardening and your witty dialog is my favorite part of my Sunday. I would never tell you what to film. I will be here if you just turn on the camera and read the newspaper silently and upload it without editing. I am here to watch someone who loves gardening and her sassy sidekick. I will say that I loved when you taught Kate how to plant and grow flowers. Her genuine reactions and thoughts mirrored my own when I started all my plants from seed last year. It was fun and refreshing and I loved her spade. Big Hugs and can’t wait for more of you this year

Whatever you are willing to give us is appreciated. I think most people would like to know about what you are doing in your garden. Your videos are relatable and connect with the viewer. Who isn’t interested in what other gardeners are up to.
I found you when I was looking for inspiration ahead of getting my first greenhouse. I stayed because you made me laugh and I love your style. I love making a cup of tea and hanging out with you both and seeing what you’re up to. I especially love when you’re sitting down together and laughing at your bulb purchases or just planning stuff out and chatting. Kate was obviously a rare appearance until fairly recently 😂 but when you phoned for help to reach something high up- the tall person company or whatever you called it and Kate came- I was helpless. Your recent video about how gardening can be boring encouraged me to go and get on with the boring stuff that just needs done even though it’s so cold outside. And wonky shonky has made it into my head as a more natural way of saying just get on with doing stuff and it doesn’t have to be perfect. Here’s to a happy gardening year Eli and Kate and not having to work so hard 😊
I came looking for info, but I found myself incredibly charmed by the Eli & Kate "fluff". Whenever I've got your channel on the telly, even my partner (who isn't into gardening) always comment on how lovely and wholesome you both are.

I just started watching you after you were on with Gardener Scott. I enjoy your channel and have learned a lot from it. You and Kate doing things together is fun to watch. Sometimes you just need a change to keep from getting burned out. It's like getting a breath of fresh air. When you make it fun and relaxed for you, it'll come through in your videos. I happened across your channel a couple of years ago when I was looking for inspiration to change my garden. I certainly found it ... and a lot more besides! I've been gardening for more than 65 years so I don't need "how to's" but what I love about your videos is the interaction between you and Kate, and the obvious love for your garden which shines through in everything you do. That, and the fact that your Scottish climate is so similar to mine here in the far west of Cornwall - just a wee bit colder - but with all the same buffeting wind and rain that I suffer here. Don't let anyone tell you the West Country is sunny. I've avidly watched all your back catalogue, and enjoyed every minute. Please keep on doing what you do so well. Oh yes, and I subscribed as soon as I realised how much I liked your channel. You've even unknowingly encouraged me to grow tomatoes again after giving up years ago due to blight. This year (2023) I had an amazing crop - so thank you. This is the very first time I've commented on a video so this is all new for me. I hope it helps you realise there are viewers "out there" who love watching what you do, but mostly we love the Eli and Kate "fluff". Have a great season in 2024!
I’m so glad you’ve commented. And yes… I’ve only been to Cornwall once and it was rain and wind the entire week so I felt right at home! I actually loved it!!! It really felt like home, like a bit of Scotland got stolen and taken south!
My husband and I also watch whatever you do. We find ourselves waiting for the next video. Keep up the great work. I originally started to watch as we had built a greenhouse and was looking for setup inspiration. And have been watching ever since. Looking forward to the upcoming season. Hi Eli, I love your enthusiasm towards gardening, but like you say these videos take a lot of time so do what you like when you can afford the time. Im lucky to be retired and my name gives away my other hobby but I time manage between the two when required. Dont be pressured in to garden video production, its a hobby after all and Im sure a few extra days will improve your wellbeing and work / life balance.

Delighted with this decision, I love all your videos. However, I miss the real Eli and Kate video where you are both in the garden or greenhouse, being yourselves, planning, planting, growing, building, chatting even weeding. It's real, normal, enjoyable and often comical (in a nice way). So keep up the good work and thanks for letting me join in with your journey. My family aren't interested in the garden so I struggle for enthusiasm, appreciation or even acknowledgement apart from the odd nod I'm on my own so it's important for me to feel apart of your journey cause it guides me and encourages me ❤

I’m here for the fluff! Most of the channels I follow I do so because it’s like chatting with an old friend and meandering through their garden and yours is no exception. My channel is entirely fluff, no one learns anything from me! 😂😂
Just read a few comments and most agree. We all like the fluff and the how to’s as well. We just enjoy seeing what you two are up to week to week. I need a garden club that gardens and has a flexible time schedule where I can help be part of the club when it is convenient for me because like you, I have a grown up job as well that has nothing to do with gardening (the local garden club meets for brunch on a weekday 🧐). Happy New year to you both! Great vlog as always I always find it difficult planning out where to grow once seeds have germinated, And of course what seed varieties to sow 🤔 there are so many! I’m big into flower sowing and have so many I started off in August for spring and summer, all covered up as it’s in the minus temperature in Berkshire and staying that way all week. Veg sowing and growing I got into last year, so keen to get going And sowing along with you too, on the flower seed sowing why not try Statice they are so beautiful and dry out so you can make a display for the house perhaps !
I know all to well how that feels. It gets to the point to where you feel like you HAVE to do something, instead of enjoying what you're doing. And that kinda takes the fun out of things. Instead of a Hobby, it becomes another Job or Chore. Thats probably why I never really opened up my own channel to my techniques of gardening and my how to videos. It's not that I don't have the skills to do so, just I don't want it to take away from what I actually enjoy. I love watching the plants grow, I love spending time out in Gods creation helping to plant seeds that God will sprout and I will tend to. For me, it's a way for me to feel closer to God, My Dad and my Grandfathers and Grandmothers. Dad is no longer here nor or my grandparents and there's times I think of questions to ask on how to do things or just want to share things with them, but I can't. Thats ok, because I know they're watching down on me and probably evening helping me in some way or another. Point is, Do what makes you happy and try to stick with that. If it brings on more views or doesn't, it still made you Happy. And THAT's how it should be.
I watched the thing twice, (you know, your accent is quite challenging to me) and l decided I would love to see more fluffiness but I guess it's not an option. That said, l hope you two do what you enjoy the most. ❤❤

But look after you. 😊 Do what you need to and pace yourself.. if you have to do less videos for a few months thats ok 😊 you cant be a good gardener if your wore out 😊 maybe take a few weeks to reset. No videos and just take care of you . If must be hard on Kate too see you stressed, sad and tired 😊 Your fans will still be about. The ones who aren't, oh well. Your not a robot your human. You need down time too.😊

Eli, it looks easy, but behind the scenes, the time you take to set up the cameras, get the audio right, set up the script and ideas for what you want to do, and then, after you have filmed it all, collate the media, edit all the clips and upload it to RU-vid takes a lot of time. Good on you! I'm looking forward to it. I think this is a real danger of the internet for most of our hobbies, really. I exist primarily in the art hobby areas of the internet and as soon as you start doing every drawing to post it online you start drawing for the algorithm rather than for yourself (and the people seeing your art don't necessarily share your interests, which just pulls you even further from what you really want to be doing!). Here's a happier, fun 2024!

I just spent the morning doing winter garden chores and cleaning up the mess that's somehow accumulated, and I am hoping to start peas, summer cabbage, and lettuce soon so I'm looking forward to Growing With Eli.
In North America we call those relaxed, hang out and have a cuppa with a friend type videos Vlogs. I enjoy that format because you feel like you're getting to know the people making the videos. I can watch a hundred videos on how to propagate basil. What keeps me watching is the "fluff" of who a person is!
Love it! I'm in Alberta, Canada, and a lot of youtube gardening info doesn't always apply here, so I mostly watch channels that offer that "have a cup of tea and see what my favourite channels are up to" vibe. Looking forward to hanging out with you both!
I just stop in to see what your up to. You could probably film walking around the yard and going on about whatever comes up. My gardening channels are just relaxing, AND... Your my only Scot? :) So its also nice for my ears :) Happy new year!

I came for the education on how to use my new greenhouse, then fell in love with Wednesday bloopers, now love how you’re evolving the garden giving me courage to do the same! Kate being more involved is lovely! ❤ Seeing the cats exploring the back yard made me start watching for escape routes so maybe some of my cats can join me in the gardens too. I love the channel - as it was, how it is now, and looking forward to see how it will be. If what you do now, is what you did in 2012, I would think it would become stale, humdrum, dare I even say, boring. You are not the same now as you were 12 years ago, so why should your channel. You grew, matured, evolved … and you’ve taken your followers along with as they also matured, changed and evolved too. Yeah, change can be scary, but oh boy, it can also be so much fun. So here’s to seeing where you take us as we begin 2024, and may you forever keep that Kate and Eli sparkle.

To be honest I subscribed because of your positive personality and humorous banter in the comment section. I really enjoyed sharing things about my own garden with you and this community. How to's are nice, I also enjoy them but mostly I'm here pretending the pele on the other side of my red fence are a nice Scottish couple and not the lowlifes that are there. (They have unscrewed a section of their fence paneling so they can come over and help themselves to our water, electricity, and anything ripe for eating. You might be asking how do they help themselves to our electricity. They bring an extension cord and plug it into the outdoor outlet. For the water they just turn it on. We speed leaving hoses out, but they just brought their own. We've now got (more)cameras set up outside to hopefully catch them better than we were being able to. If they were in a tight spot and had asked us I would have said yes or worked something out with them, but the keep denying it's them and they watch for us to get home then run over and "remove the evidence." It's much nicer to pretend I have nice neighbors on the other side of that red fence.😊

Less than a week ago, I found your channel looking for info about greenhouses. After watching that first video, I kept coming back to watch, not for information, but to hear from you and listen. You do you! I started watching your channel because of your personality, not because of the perfect content info or even the how to’s…. Its the sharing of your lives that is so wonderful for the rest of us. It is a privilege to be able to watch your journey.
To be clear, the ONLY reason I subscribed to this channel was to get more of the Eli and Kate vibe. I bore easily of the over-hyped DIY power ranger stuff that makes up the vast majority of this scene. In an age where most things are becoming increasingly accelerated and depersonalized, THIS is the kind of content I want in my feed. Hell, I just spent my entire lunch hour at work watching your videos! I'm glad you've come to realize this - too many authentic youtubers become slaves to the algorithm and lose the thing that made them attractive in the first place. You're on the right track...the better track :)
Been watching since you got your first hot bin (and all the learning experiences that you went through with it). Your 'how to' videos are ace but the thing I've enjoyed watching was how to garden. That includes how to grow a carrot but it also includes having the cup of tea, learning a new gadget/toy and sometimes learning a new technique to store garlic. Your channel is a how to channel just not the way some viewers want. Your whole channel is a "how to garden" and I love all your content not just those particular videos. Because of you showing me "how to garden" with up and downs, wins and challenges (you only lose if you give up) my first raised beds are going in this month. Front garden south facing and 110m2. Thank you, keep being you and keep doing the things the way you enjoy them most. I'm pretty sure you've mentioned, on multiple occasions, "it's your garden, do what you find most fun and interesting"
