This is the video that was paired with the Mahavishnu Orchestra and broadcast as the show called Telerock. Both concerts took place at the Paramount Northwest Theatre but this one took place on June 22 -23rd., a different date from the MO concert. David LaFlamme had left the band at this point. To the best of my knowledge the players are: Pattie Santos - lead vocals, Greg Bloch - violin, Fred Webb - keys, Bud Cockrell - bass and vocals, Val Fuentes - drums, and Bill Gregory - guitar . They perform 4 songs here : Give You Woman What She Wants, Words, Shake Your Booty, and the last one called Ain't That Lovin You Baby . Thanks to Alexander DeMarbiex for help with the titles.

I had no idea David LaFlame had left the bad in 1972. I kept lookign at the violinist and knew it wasnt him. Evidently this was mostly Patti Santos band at this point. Learn something new every day

Very rare footage of the last incarnation of It's A Beautiful Day. This was after David LaFlamme had departed and they released their final album, IABD... Today. The group would fold not long after this concert, with Bud Cockrell moving on to help found Pablo Cruise.

Pattie Santos was the complete package. Bad management was the primary reason she didn’t become a household name. Bud Cockrell was a monster talent and was actually targeted by A&M Records to be the breakout solo star from Pablo Cruise. It turned out to be a bad decision and his solo career never materialized. Pablo Cruise enjoyed their greatest success following Bud’s departure and the release of “World’s Away”. Cockrell was never to regain his momentum and faded into obscurity. The Cockrell Santos album was well produced with excellent playing and vocals, but I don’t believe it even charted. So much potential and a very sad ending for both Pattie and Bud. RIP

Wonders if Bud ever regretted leaving Pablo Cruise.

Bud Cockrell went on to success with Pablo Cruise and later reunited with wife Pattie Santos in Cockrell and Santos. Gregory Bloch joined Italian prog rockers PFM and was featured on their 1978 LP Jet Lag.

Only a few years later, the 60's had been well and truly jettisoned. Pattie is a revealed as a powerhouse singer. Reminds me of Lydia Pense.

Should be more than one like, because this band was, very significant, in the years following the summer of love. I have seen them,10 times hard rockin, hard touring, several versions but this was a, very best few years this setup. Tom Fowler was always something special I seen Hal and David and Linda. .. :D

What great, strong performances by top-notch musicians on all instruments. It's too bad that a "White Bird" performance is not in the vid. However, I'm impressed & most pleased. Thanks. Richard

Maybe that was because David La Flamme was not part of this band grouping ? thanks !

@@whodowedo/videos Yes, LaFlamme was not part of IABD at that time. However, this IABD iteration still should have done White Bird, because WB was a great song, & WB was IABD's best song.

The band didn't seem to last long after the ...Today album. I read somewhere where Patti had her own band afterward called Pharoe's Whistle but found nothing about them. Outside of the Cockrell/Santos album in late '70s, it doesn't look like she did much else after Beautiful Day ended. She seemed to have disappeared altogether in the '80s. Pity she was a great singer.

Only Val Fuentes - other than Pattie - is from the original band. A personal story - in the 90's I did a fair amount of open mics and I ran across a guy named Tim Dawe. He was not in the band directly but did write a couple of songs on the 3rd LP...something to do with the fact that they needed more material. Dawe (not his given name) was a character. I would have been interesting to see where this would, or could, have went. Certainly more aggressive & Bluesy than the original incarnation. In case anybody's interested I did track down a post of the full Cockrell & Santos LP... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-q1UXRRDzoZA.html

It's A Beautiful Day broke up shortly after this. Sadly Pattie died in a car crash in 1989. She and Bud Cockrell were married in the '70s. Searching the web I found very little info on her. She and Bud did the Cockrell/Santos album in '78, and she seemingly vanished after that. I did see a mention that she was in a band called Pharoe's Whistle in mid '70s after Beautiful Day, but no info on them either. Sad that she didn't do more she had a great voice.

Two of the members seen here are from the original line-up, Pattie Santos on vocals and Val Fuentes on drums. Fred Webb on keyboards replaced Linda LaFlamme in 1969 after the group's first album was released.

@@jameskennedy721 Best psychedelic band out of the bay area (check out first two albums for more). Third album is transitional as it features two different lineups, plus some members of Santana joining in on a few tracks. Live At Carnegie Hall (1972) flat out rocks hard. On Today, Bud Cockrell and Greg Bloch replaced leader David LaFlamme.
