Sometimes you gotta tip your cap and realize that Hocker was the best man on the day.

Is somebody not tipping their hat to the gold medalist? He had mentioned that Hocker had put in the work. And just curious, what’s your mile time?

Hocker has been trending upward for a bit now. Being American myself it didn’t surprise me that he had that type of performance in him. Respect to Kerr for being gracious in defeat. He seems like a balanced and generally likeable person.

Definitely bittersweet. A silver medal and national record in one of the greatest 1500m races ever is a fantastic achievement. Yet he spent the last 11 months routinely reminding people in interviews and on social media that he’s the world champ, the best in the world and mentally the toughest while almost never racing and putting all of his eggs into one basket and coming up just short.

class act, I went into the race pulling for him, it's a good consolation prize to have 3 of my countrymen in the top 5 and top spot but I'm still team Kerr.

Jakob is the best at 1500 imo but has his work cut out getting tactics that will beat the likes of now Hocker and Kerr in a championship race without pacemakers. Front running the entire race was clearly a miscalculation but for the last 2 laps only and who knows. He’ll have to wait till the next encounter. Hopefully Kerr will start turning up to more races, better with him in them! Hocker was great, had never seen that coming. Nguse also flying through the line. Top event these days.

No way to tell now, but if Ceriyout hadnt closed the gap Ingebrigtsen got during the race i wonder if they had cached him or how the last strech would fall out. Not sure that move burned out Cheriyout but he falled back I also getting suspicious when someone gets a 3 sec pb and not even look tired. hard time beliving in that

cole's fate was in jakob's hand. he opened up the inside line for cole to run throught the finish line. at 100m to gocole tried to pass jakob from the inside lane, but jakob cuts him off, which caused cole to slow down and chopped his steps, and then with 50m to go Jakob opens up the inside lane which was all cole needs to run right through the finish line. had jakob not done that, josh would been olympic champion.

Kerr seems like a nice enough gentleman but I was disappointed that he didn't even mention Cole Hocker's name. He also talks about breaking the Olympic Record but, again, Hocker did that and Josh just won't say his name?!

Plan A+ for Josh should have emulated World indoors and make a strong move with 220 to go. Waiting for the home straight cost Josh 🥇 as Jacob slowed 200 to 100 to go. That was all the incentive Cole Hocker needed to unleash his killer kick and well, the rest is history. A fantastic race to watch. Can’t wait for these guys to match up again.

Being 2x on the Olympics podium and not winning it is never the same as winning Gold once and get last place the rest of the times. You can be on the podium with Bronze and Silver for Olympics but you rather have them substituted for that 1 gold medal. Jakob done it in Tokyo and now in Paris for 5k.

He won't even be a factor in 2028. He will be in his 30s by then while people like Hobbs, Laros, Myers, Cole will either be in their early 20s or mid to late 20s. This was his one chance and he couldn't deliver
