What a pleasant way to watch tv…manners, clear communication, actual information instead of….trash, trash and tacky trash

It was so bizarre how they were advertising jobs at pacific telephone for female telephone operators in the middle of this interview with Edith Head. Quite ironic really: the switch board operator was seen as a typical sexist 50s female job and then Edith; the self made, hustling career woman ahead of her time with chutzpah working for big film studios. Such a juxtaposition they wouldn’t have registered at the time!!!!

Lead to this from another Edith Head interview. I am surprised at how aggressive she is in the interviews, cutting off the interviewer several times and talking over her. Of course she was an amazing costume creator, but her demeanor caught me off guard.

Edna mode, if she had the same voice it would be wild.

She was an absolute genius, cool for mentioning her. Although a serious nightmare to work with for different reasons, at a time when women were super disposable in Hollywood for having a voice, it always came down to her knowing clothes so well, what particular clothing did and said for men & women, not so much what said and who was wearing them but where they are being worn Is the biggest part for... Her words " Don't you know...?" "Im not a designer and never have just been a designer, I am and always will be a 1st a "costume-designer"? Snipety as all get out"the distintion needed to be clear & was always so important to Edith.. "She's a a gigantic Bi*** I adore her no one dared question her because the very long line of Academy Awards resting against her"...Heady Lamar-

AMAZING. What a find. I've always adored Helen Parrish. Thank you soooo much for uploading this. I'm in awe at the great quality of the video as well.

Surprising that both Helen Parrish & Marjorie Millar would be deceased at only age 35.

Really? I had never heard of either woman. I will check them out on Google (shades of modern technology).

Re: Helen Parrish. She was married to John Guedel, a name I recognize. He gave Groucho (Marx) his start in You Bet Your Life. She died of cancer, I could not find what type.

Re: Marjorie Millar. Oh my goodness, her life after this video went downhill quickly. For such a beautiful woman with a great future ahead of her she made many mistakes in her life choices. Her car accident began her health issues.
