It’s nonsensical for the President in the first place to unreasonably exercised his power to announcing the extension over the new currency other than to simply support the decision of the Supreme Court by stating clearly that CBN amongst others should comply with the interim injunction of the Supreme Court. Therefore, the exercise of the power of the president over an issue that the Supreme Court already issued an interim injunction over, is unreasonable and unjustifiable and not conform to, not in the observation and application of the provisions of the Constitution, so that now, both the announcement of the president extension for 6o days as well as the all the governors reactions amongst others related to the president announcement, are unconstitutional. Illegal, null and void as one cannot put something on nothing and expect it to stay there, it will collapse. See MacFoy v. United Africa Company Limited [1961] 3 All ER 1169, wherein Lord Denning LJ held that, “If an act is void, then it is in law a nullity. It is not only bad, but incurably bad. There is no need for an order of the court to set it aside. It is automatically null and void without more ado, though it is sometimes convenient to have the court declare it to be so. And every proceeding which is founded on it is also bad and incurably bad. You cannot put something on nothing and expect it to stay there. It will collapse” Section 1 in conjunction with section 6 of the Constitution is clear. Obviously this man Datei Baba Ahmed here is talking hogwash.

The supreme Court is bigger than the president and the supreme Court has removed governors and can even remove a president. He said when they are elected they will stop the killing and blah blah. Let him explain how they will stop the killing. They will only stop the killings by stopping the CBN and accepting old notes back. So why then wait for people to die. If truly they are angels that just fell from the sky they should be human enough and have sympathy even engage the government not create a divide and rule and people die just for their own gains that is evil. This is a national issue not Asu. ASU went on strike because of money they owe them. I am disappointed at the comments here. Governors are elected executives who are bound by the constitution and not by the president's order. The Supreme Court judgment holds and binds all of them. Generation of power is the heart of every viable democracy

I don’t think many Nigerians have a clue on what we are seeing unfolding before our eyes, with regards to Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed. These guys are not going to back down or cower to the so called political gangsters. God is setting us up for greatness in Africa and the world in general. This guy's understanding of what the roles and powers of federating units in a federal republic is all about is shallow. State governors can challenge decisions of the federal government, which was done through the courts. The court has ruled, and the ruling support what elrufai has said to his constituents. Calling it treasonable felony means Datti is still thinking in military terms. Nigeria left military rule long time ago, and Datti needs to update his vocabulary.

I believe he is okay with the president's disregard of court order because it probably favours his team. But those rode on the back of the tiger usually find themselves in its belly. I hold no brief for anyone but I want a Nigeria where everyone follows court ruling whether they like the outcome or not. It is called checks and balances.
@@lekanlawoyin1182 Datti is boldly fearless and appears more logical and less emotional. The court of law should be obeyed although they are known for making controversial decisions. Nevertheless; this was a well needed judgement. It favors the people. The problem here is that El Rufai's own directive against that of Buhari appears to be more politically motivated rather than in the interest of Nigerians. It just happens that his political interest in this instant aligns with that of the people. He basically implies that those old notes can be used as long as anyone sees fit without any need for a deadline. This is deliberate defiance and El Rufai is also known to disobey court orders. Eitherway; this is all a big mess. The policy implementation is a great failure.
