This has actually made me realise there are a reasonable number of mattes in the palettes! Certainly there is a specific layout to the PML mothership palettes, and the issue of there mainly being pink or brown mattes is definitely relevant. Her holiday mega motherships have stepped outside this formulaic layout and colour story.

Love and share your passion for makeup✌️ I have motherships 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9. Personally, apart from the identical blacks I find all other shades unique and find myself wanting that specific champagne or that specific brown etc😃

They’re so expensive that I wouldn’t expect to buy all of them. I know when I was first getting into Pat I chose carefully out of the first three since they have duplicate shades.

I have all the Mothership palettes and agree with you. Although each color in each Mothership is intended to be part of a color story, I wished there were NO identical or similar colors over and over again because the palettes are expensive enough. If I'm honest, I'm annoyed by these facts. It takes away the magic and frustrates the customer. A big thank you from me too! This video was/is very useful. 🙏

Mothership palettes are meant to be used as a complete color story, that’s why the repeats are there. I agree, I wish the color stories are more different from one another. Having said that, I love the rose, the rose II and hutopian dream palettes, all three 😂

PML comes out with different and beautiful color stories in holidays and so , I agree with some people saying that we don’t have to collect all of the Motherships and expect very different results when the last few years all color stories in every makeup brand are pinky tones ,even ND , the browns and the champagne shades has been always similar in so many brands , we buy the fórmula and the packaging. So if I wants different shades I have to wait until PML makes something for her holiday’s edition 😅 and be happy with my 7 motherships that I already have . I understand the frustration but nothing happens if we don’t have the ultimate mothership because is similar to others . It’s ok , we ‘ll have PML for a long time yet .

I don’t own any of her bigger palettes but it was interesting to see how similar or exact some of the shades are. I’ve just watched Marlena Stell’s new video and she mentioned Pat McGrath palettes in it. The reason for the high price tag was for the packaging rather than the eyeshadows, great video as always xx

I really wish Pat Mcgrath would bring out some more colourful palettes I love the xmas 22 palette but haven't bought any palettes from the permanent as they're all way too neutral for me xx

Absolutely wonderful video idea! I thoroughly enjoyed it! Im trying to stop myself buying pat mcgrath on a vicious cycle! Considering you haven't swatched any of Pats other holiday palette or collection 🤔 im presuming there will be loads of similarities. I have only 1 mothership and its an absolute nightmare to avoid buying during sales 🙃

Well not everyone collects the palettes therefore it’s absolutely great and she has no choice but to include the blacks or similar colors in different palettes She just has to again no all of us collect the palettes

I only own 2 pallets (5 and 7) and am already annoyed. It really lacks variation, the packaging is heavy and clumsy. I wouldn't like to travel with it especially since one palette cannot complete a look for me. I'm so disappointed, i was so excited to jump on the Pat hype train and just don't see it. Maybe my indies have spoiled me already, but my ND + indie collection beats those two pallets in every category. What an expensive conclusion

Now that you put it that way, yeah it very repetitive. I don’t own palette number 4 and 9.

Uuuh no, pls dont make Mother put matte fun colors into her palettes, i mean my focus are her special shades and just all shimmers, appreciate a neutral transition for her glittery shades, mattes are also way cheaper to make, just buy for example Clionadh Cosmetics, or another niche brand, where you get countless colorful shades, and countless duo, trio, multichromes, iridescents & Co; but the quality of PML is not comparable, just on another lvl....

The title is so clickbait. I feel like you fail to understand how make-up palettes, branding, and even the make-up consumer market work. Less than 10% of the whole market is made up of collectors, which is why palettes carry similar colours, or even the same (in the case of black). Yes, many colours are similar, but not the exact same - ever wondered why? You've said it yourself in the video that "they're not the same", so your whole point is moot and, some might say, a lot of nonsense. Palettes (especially those made by the luxury, expensive brands) shouldn't carry all completely different colours, because the intent is to appeal to a consumer range where every skin tone is able to find one or two palettes that work for them, rather than having to buy 10 palettes to create one look. Companies wanting to attract a lower-end clientele do that, but the price usually reflects that, because they need to be more affordable if their end-goal is quantity purchases. With Pat McGrath, you really only need to find THE palette that works for you, and then you're set and wouldn't need to buy more. Even in terms of consumption, you're setting a really bad example, not taking into consideration all the trickling down effects it has. Not sure if you're coming across as tone-deaf or just plainly ignorant on the subject.
