Glad to hear the good news. You are one of my favorite channel from the day i got my 23 690. I had a 1190 years ago, the thing about the KTM, it don't like us messing with its electronics if we don't know what we're doing. And, never ever allow low engine oil. Peace
I appreciate the love! Thank you for the support and congrats in the 690!! I definitely agree, any sort of electronic mods have made this a nightmare.. But oil glass is checked each time! Ride safe!!
@@LifeWellRidden hey did you see @cyclecruza used you as an example to say KTM reliability is terrible 🤣. I asked him when he was gonna say they fixed your bike for free even tho it's out of warranty but I guess he didn't wanna hear it cause he blocked me from commenting anymore
Haha agreed to the #dadlife coming through clutch! Well then.. I have been debating on what I should do with them, to keep in case I go back OR sell..... BUT if you make a good argument on why you should have them than maybe hahaha
I'm going to 61 Kartway next week, suggestion from some of my friends who go to the "big tracks". I will also try Autobahns kart track at some point. To be honest, I have never been to one.. so I'm interested to see what its like! Their is also one in Norway, IL that I have ridden past but have never seen anyone out there haha
Ehhhhhh not even sure.. (again I am not a mechanic or professional) but If I would use my own opinion, I would not. The springs around the screws SHOULD do their job and to be honest what I am going to do is add this check to my pre and post season checklist. So if I have to crack the cover off 2/3 times a year I will haha
@@LifeWellRidden welp, I had a big brain moment and looked in my Shop\Service manual for the bike. I thought there would be instructions for the decompressor and assembly. NOPE! What I did find on the googler is a page from a 2007 690 Shop Manual that does mention the decompressor weight bolts. It states to use Loctite 243 (Blue) and tighten to 3-4nm. Figured I would share with you. Thank you for responding and I hope you have a trouble free remainder of the season.
@@ironken1796 CRAZY!! 1) I hate the new digital manuals.. give me the ol paper so I can highlight, mark up and fold important pages and not need service to search through.. 2) I feel like KTM (and everyone else) have stopped providing true "service" manuals where now its just black and white pictures on how to wash your bike or check the tire pressure.. Anyway haha that's awesome info you found! Alright the good ol 243 and 3-4nm and awayyyy we go! Thank you!!
As an appendice, I am just as 1000 miles. $500 KTM first service right at 600 miles. Now oil light stays on much longer after starting. It was never more than a second. Now it’s sometimes 4-10 seconds. During the whole time the light is on there is a loud grinding noise. I think it’s the cam shaft tension chain, but that’s only because I have heard other people say that’s what it is. Typically not on a cold start. After riding. Any ideas?
12 month warranty with my 23 also. I'm about to hit 2k miles , so oil change is recommended since there could still be some trace elements in the oil from break-in. 6k miles is the normal 2nd change... Edit: you commented as I was typing. I know the sound you're talking about but mine does it after hot starts. I'd take it back to the shop just to be safe.
No real help on the warranty from KTM, 12 months is all ya get.. But if there are major issues that have been a problem in the past, they may help you out. May.. but if you are concerned about the sound I would take it back to the dealer and have them inspect. If they just touched the bike then they should know or be able to find what is happening!
I've been using the Brembo RCS 15 (short lever) for the past month; which I found is only a slight improvement over the stock master. (I was hoping for a bit more bite than OEM, even when RCS is set on the race setting). Even after pressure bleeding and swapping pads and still negligible. I hope your experience with the 15 is better than mine. (Next on the list is a better caliper) LOL.
I'm throwing it on next week So I'm excited to see how it feels! I have never owned a bike with one before so it will be totally new to me. Honestly I am almost looking for less bite?? I want something that acts slow but firm. I have a tendency to "grip it" too hard at the track and make me feel uneasy so something that smooths that out would be perfect for me. Time will tell!
Me too!! And for the price.. I found a track like 2 hours from me that's $20 to ride ALL day.. WHAAAA like why am I paying almost 300 non-refundable dollars to ride every 60 minutes.. I think this will be a game changer for me.. I'm excited to share my findings!!
@@22smcrrider96 there isn’t one close?? Maybe a weekend journey would be worth it! But I’m hoping it will be sweet, I will be able to bring out cameras and everything!
@@LifeWellRidden nothing really close plus I work weekends so that sucks. I'm off on Monday and Tuesdays. But I would like to take a couple Vaca days and go to one of I can find something semi close I'm def looking forward to new content and new bike!
I currently have a 2023 KTM RC390 and have been thinking about adding a 690. Glad to see KTM honored the 2 year warranty because I've heard they tend to exclude covered items. Ride safe!
Adding a 690 would be awesome!! They are a blast and just enough to get into trouble but not absolutely crazy like a 990 or even bigger.. I'm glad they covered it too, the recall from years ago probably prompted the decision
I may.. but to be honest probably not.. I would buy a new bike that I don't feel like will blow up before I do a long road trip haha more like a 890 SMT or maybe a Tenere 700 to fill that need!
@@LifeWellRidden i've done on my 690 multiple times. Don't worry too much about it. What happened to yours is actually super rare. I sure hope to see and episode of you tour on the sumo to another state before you hop on another bike. :)
@@JinKazama92 I’ll try not to, you and many other people have never seen this happen, I feel like it is so rare like you stated that it shouldn’t happen again.. I’ll build that confidence back up haha eventually..
Lol damn, maybe try adjusting shifter, I always do it when I leave my shifter in the high position from using mx boots offroad, then I go ride on road with normal shoes
@@jarrod1687 Haha I feel like I need this thing sooooo low that I don't miss and get the full motion with shoes, boots it needs to be wayyy high hahaha like no happy medium..
@@LifeWellRidden yeah, have a set of them for both my clutch and brake. The price is a bit high (for me) but def worth every penny. The finnishing is refine and feel great. High recommend them. They r from Japan
@@reiayanami6946 I will have to check them out! And the price is steep for me too but then again if its high quality and I can take care of it then its worth it! How do you like the clutch? I see 99% brakes but hardly ever clutchs
