Hey guys! So the Ipsy Showdown is back after many months! But I need your help! I love doing tons of unboxings with you guys but I hate how wasteful swatching/trying things once is and I would love to be able to donate more of the products I receive. So what do you guys think I should do? I want you all to enjoy these videos and I know a lot of you enjoy try on portions so let me know your thoughts! I think you should definitely donate. I made these gift boxes for this women's shelter for Christmas and they loved them. I filled them with little perfumes, skin and hair care items, and other things. And it made me feel good doing it. 👍🥰
I hope things have gotten better.. I do have a question, what are some items that are the most appreciated? Needed? I have some young ladies looking to do a collection for a few locations. I am assisting and guiding bit they are responsible for all the work.
same, I had a rough patch in 2011 and it was incredible getting personal and beauty products. once the beauty school came and gave haircuts and manicures. when you have nothing it's the little things that mean the most. hope things are better for you now.
I'm sorry to hear that. We have a charity in Australia called "share the dignity", whereby we can give new or used good quality handbags full of everyday hygiene and toiletry products. I try to give good quality pre-loved handbags full of new products as often as these campaigns come about. It seems such a small and insignificant gesture, but your comment is encouraging and I will keep doing this whenever I can. All the best to you.🙏
@@gmcmisty Once they gave me a box of hair dye, I almost cried. Anything at all can make an abused woman feel loved. I remember getting little fancy shampoos, soaps, and makeup products. New clothes, even used was awesome too. Most of us leave with just the clothes on our backs ♥
As much as I enjoy the try on's, I think following your heart and helping people in need feel beautiful is much more important. Even these small samples can mean the world to women at the shelter and I think that is worth so much more in the long run.
I’m so happy that you are donating the products! For a try-on portion, maybe you can dig through the stuff you already have from previous boxes and see if you have something that could create a similar look; that way you’re going back to the stuff from before and getting more use out of it, and also not wasting new products. (Bring back good ol’ Barbarella 😂😂😂)
When I donated a ton of bags to a shelter, I emptied them all, and sorted the products by type. Then, I put one of each into the bags. After I did it all equally, I had a few bags leftover that had duplicate types, or a one-off tool. It worked pretty well! And that could be a fun friend or mom helper project.
I do not remember which uk beauty box it was but, yep, they included a toothpaste as one of the “luxury” items. In all fairness to the company, it was full size .
I cancelled Ipsy awhile ago. I was tired of paying for samples and no matter how I did my profile, I still got teenager type items. I enjoy your videos and I think it's great to forgo swatching and donate! ❤️
I LOVE that you're donating. And I know a lot of ppl like the try-on portion. What if you shop your stash for the closest items to what was in the box/ bag and try those on? That way you're not wasting product AND you're using up already opened products.
So excited to see another Ipsy showdown. I actually missed them... They are always very entertaining. I also appreciate that you are so conscious about the environment. I also say for Ipsy showdown to not worry about the try on portion though swatching the pieces you are considering of keeping is fun. Maybe have a try on portion for a different single subscription box that has more makeup tailored to you and that you are more likely on keeping because the try on portions are actually quite fun!
I love the idea of you donating the packages to the shelters! If it was for me I would love if they included little alcohol pads in there too to sanitize the brushes and stuff if wanted. If that's something you could do, just throw a few inside, I think that would be really lovely.💖
I love the Ipsy showdown and think it is great that you donate them. I fully support you in that. I think someone at Ipsy needs to review your requests. There is no way that first bag was “adventurous” and the second was most definitely not “everyday” makeup.
I don't know if you know this hack: Cut the top of the tube off, part way down, you can scoop what's left out and if you still have some after that use, just pop the top over the rest of the tube to keep it from drying out.
I really just like seeing WHAT came in the bags, not so much how it swatches or looks like as a make up look. I'm cool with you skipping the try on and donating the products to someone who can/will use them! :) BUT, I do like seeing how people do their make up, so you doing a GRWM video once in awhile with make up you already have open and use would be fun to see.
Love the Showdowns! They're always fun. I think it's a great idea to donate what you don't really like. We get to see it in a fun way and someone who needs it benefits....it's a win-win !
I think it's great that you're donating the bags! I honestly don't mind that you don't try the products on. It's fun in itself to see what products come in the bags. If there is a product you want to try on, you could always show the picture from their website of the swatch so you don't have to swatch it or try it on yourself. That way everyone will know what the color looks like & you'll still be able to donate it.
Alexandria, you always make my day. You are one of my favorites on RU-vid. I think it would be great for you to donate the items from your Ipsy bag. I don’t think you need to demo it. I’m sure the folks that receive them would be grateful. Great idea!
you could do a monthly/quarterly video where you try on makeup from the beauty boxes you've gotten lately but not actually swatch everything in each video, maybe? tbh while i like the try-ons, it's really more practical to keep everything sealed so you can donate it rather than have a bunch of open stuff you won't use.
@@Alexandria-Ryan it might also be interesting for us to see what you're donating each month/however often you drop stuff off. it could be an opportunity to run through the stuff you've gotten recently again and to, like, actually see how much stuff will get to help other people.
I 100% support continuing opening the boxes however you want and donating stuff to women's shelters. The boxes can be a fun treat for people but if you aren't going to use them it makes way more sense to open and review to help show others if they're worth it and then help others you can't get nice things like this.
I watch your content because I genuinely enjoy watching you open what's basically mystery bags/boxes each video. I don't wear makeup and already have a skincare routine that works well for me. I love that you donate the products and try to waste as little as possible. You often mention in your videos how you forget to do things in a certain order and can be a bit of a mess, lol. I actually find your videos very calming and relaxing while still being very interesting and enjoyable! I often find myself watching them just before bed. That's just my perspective, hope it helps!
I think donating the products is far more important than a try-on portion. It's so awesome of you to be donating so much and I'm sure these products will mean the world to someone! 😀
@@Jezabella2002 I remembered the name of the song wrong, but regardless, this is the answer ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i9HGwRbMiVY.html
Always love your content ❤️❤️❤️ Idea: This would be a bit of work, but you could organize/unbox all your samples and then create "Full Face" bags to donate. Like each bag could have a primer/moisturizer sample, eyeshadow, mascara, liner, lip product, etc. Then it's like a little goodie bag that also gives people a complete look (i.e. a better Ipsy bag lol). You could also film the entire process of getting everything organized, creating the bags, and all the chaos that may ensue. Love you! Going to go rewatch like 5 of your videos now! ❤️❤️❤️
I agree, Great idea! I would love to see piles of tubes, etc...sorted & see what all goes into the bags! It would be like we were "sharing" the experience! I dont expect to see ALL of it actually being bagged but just see the amount she's working with & then maybe one bag after being assembled! 😊
Love that you are donating the products! Not doing a try on is absolutely fine. Especially since the product gets put to a better use. Thank you for the wonderful content! Also. Cooking with Alexandra was my favorite!
I love the ipsy showdown, and I also love that you donate the bags. That's really sweet of you. I saw that a foster mom uses the bags to hold toiletries for kids when come to her.
I love the Ipsy showdown amd as much fun as it used to be to try and watch you put a look together, donating to the women's shelter is much more important!
100% you could donate the products to project beauty share. Taylor Wynn, another beauty RU-vidr works closely with this organization and recently posted that they have significantly less donations than usual. I’m sure they’d appreciate the items. Although I do think it’s worth noting Ipsy is really ass… like they’re cutting corners and putting items that are so boring and tiny.. I had to cut my subscription off years ago just for that reason, it feels like a ripoff.
It’s great that you are donating to people who are less fortunate and can appreciate and use these fun items. I canceled a year ago because my profile said skin care and no make up but what did they send me? Anyone? Anyone? You guessed it! MAKEUP!! Thank you so much!
I love that Sand & Sky emu apple mask! I tried it the other night and it really made an instant difference in my skin’s softness and it was very moisturizing! I think it’s a great idea to continue donating to women’s shelters!! I don’t need to see you swatch everything and it would make me so much happier to know these items are going to people who could use it and appreciate it! Thank you for all you do!! Have a great rest of your day! 😊
I am very excited to see the showdown back. Yay! I love that you are donating. How about keep a few products that you are interested in trying on occasion from all your unboxings and do the ‘testing’ of them?
Please don’t worry about watching swatching! I for one see your donations and movement toward sustainability as a major good! I see your anxiety and just want to give you a hug and say that everything’s okay. If you want to swatch or do looks, maybe do it with stuff you’re going to keep, stuff you already have, or if you’re giving it to a friend or family you can use a brush or something to take some of the product without touching it so it’s still hygienic but hopefully they won’t care that the gift is open since they’re still getting most of it and know that it’s safe.
hey girl, i’m so glad the showdown is back! i’m not sure if this would work with your schedule/ how much time you can dedicate to youtube videos, but i think it would be cool to see what your current skincare & makeup products are and why you like them- i love those kinds of videos. i do miss the try ons, but i agree with leaving the products unused to be donated. hope this helps a little💗
You are one of the sweetest ladies on RU-vid. You should always go with your heart regardless of what anyone else thinks. Hopefully, if they love you like I know we all do, then whatever you decide, we will be OK with. I LOVE the idea of sending them to a woman's shelter. It would brighten their Dat. Much love to you, Alexandria. 😘❤
I'm pretty sure "power moves" bag is a pencil case. The strap is meant to go around your binder. But I guess you could use any bag for makeup and/or pencils. It's still pretty funny though lol😅
@@mariahstone2233 I have a pencil case that is a similar size and it also has the same strap. I definitely agree that it wouldn't fit a binder. However, I'm pretty sure that's the intended use for the strap 🤔. I could be wrong though. I'm honestly not sure what it could be for otherwise🤷. I'm definitely still sure they're pencil cases though😅.
The showdown is always fun. The green eye look is gorgeous!💚 When I had Ipsy I didn't want makeup and I rarely got skincare. It is why I quit getting the bag.
I always got highlighter, really orange bronzer, or very bright liquid lipstick for makeup. I mean you can only go through so much highlighter and I never used the other stuff. Otherwise, I got primer that didn't work with my skin type EVERY SINGLE MONTH!
@@stephanielohutko3085 They sent me a highlighter every month! I wanted to try skincare. I had enough makeup after the first year. They would not send skincare. I would see others online wanting makeup only getting skincare. When I gave away 3/4 of it I stopped getting it. I can't afford to do that. It they had sent cream makeup products I wouldn't have minded but how many crazy eyeshadows and powder products can a 50+ year old woman use.
I think that is an amazing way to help support women trying to get back on their feet! Feeling good about yourself is a great start! You’re the best! Hoping to see some wedding info coming up!
I agree and think you should only try on things that you actually like enough to keep. If there really is nothing or one or two items I was thinking a good compromise might be you do a full face of make-up using your 'own/old' makeup except for a single item you choose out of all three bags. Less waste and people still get to see a try-on portion?
I fully support your decision to be less wasteful and donate! Other people who make this content are too wasteful, in my opinion. Thank you for being conscious of the impact you can make! 💖💖💖
Definitely save try-ons for things you’re interested in keeping! It’s so sweet of you to want to put the things to good use and I’m sure the ladies that receive them will be so thankful 💗
In all honesty. It's your money so do whatever you want to do with the products! I enjoy seeing things in action but if it's not going to be used then it is a waste but also think if something interests you then keep it and perhaps save all the items that you like and make one video doing a try on. Love your videos as always! You're probably one of the most transparent down to earth youtubers out there! ❤️
I think you had a good plan in this video…try what you think you would like to keep and replace it with something extra that you know you’re not going to use. Love that the showdown is back!
I swear i wanna hang out with you for at least 24hrs lol you are hilarious and so relatable. I would recommend only trying on the things that REALLY interest you and then creating the little bags with stuff that you dont or repeats of. Best of both worlds there.
I love that you’re donating the items! I think that’s a great trade off for the try on portion! Maybe we can do an “Ipsy rewind” where you try and use up your older samples to recreate the current bags? We can all laugh at how often you get the same item or similar items over and over again.
So this was my very first month subscribing to ipsy and my bag was exactly identical to the second one you opened. I literally opened it and thought wow Alexandria would be so impressed with how much makeup was in this one.
So glad you brought back the ipsy showdown. I hope it continues nd you can also include the try on portion as well because I do enjoy seeing the make-up looks you do using the products. You should do the same with boxycharm😊
Yayyyyyy!!! You wore the green eyeshadow stick again!!! It looks sooo good on you!!💚💚 also, I love the idea of you donating the majority of the products. If there is something that you REALLY. REALLY, want to try on...like the green eyeshadow stick....then they would be great. Otherwise, donate them all.💜
I've been watching you for many many years. Do what you feel like you need to do cuz this auntie will continually watch you regardless. We love you here
I was a social worker at shelters for many years. If you have time you can contact the social worker where you're sending items. Ask them what they need. I really appreciated when donors asked and gave stuff our clients could really use. For example, lip stick/gloss and mascara will come in handy for lots of people. You can try on the other stuff.
Yes! I love these videos! I agree with you and not waste the product by testing ones you won’t use. Maybe you could keep a stash of the ones you really want to try and when you finally have enough for a full face, do a video trying it all out.
The sand & sky Emu apple bounce mask is amazing, it left my skin feeling so soft for days. I have just received a full size for mother's Day and I am so happy 😁😁
I love the idea of you donating the stuff. Don't sweat testing it. Your doing the world more good donating it! Eyes look great today by the way! Went to Tuesday morning yesterday and they had a ton of advent calendars! Thought of you!
I love these videos! They are so entertaining. You should think about doing an Allure Beauty Box unboxing. I feel like they’ve been stepping up their game lately. Also the Walmart beauty box is pretty good and it’s once a season.
Oooh Just got into bed and thought let me check RU-vid and see if everyone has stopped talking about Slapgate. And Alexandra has uploaded. Yayyy Happy days 🤗
I’m just here for the fun unboxing and your great personality. I think you should donate the bags if that’s what your heart is telling you. I really respect that.
Love your video. Was so excited to pull my bag out and see what was the same. Only the first aid. I completely understand and think it’s a great idea to donate. I used to like the try on to see you use the product, but it seems like there is less and less new things to try. It’s a wonderful thoughtful act to donate them.
@@Alexandria-Ryan omg thank you for being you, I’ve been watching you since your unboxings in front of the chalkboard and I can’t stop watching! You’re so sweet and you don’t pretend to be someone you’re not and I love that🖤🖤 thank you for being my favorite RU-vidr :))
Wow! You arms look similar to mine with the burn marks...every time I cook something in the oven on a sheet pan at 400+ degrees, I seem to somehow rest my arm against it. So far, I'm at 4 times in the past 2 years. I love that you donate the items. That is very sweet!
