Hey Daidus, I am a 44 year old Chinese Australian woman who learnt about your channel through my kids, have watched many of your videos and they really have a heart. Thanks for sharing your life using your art! Hope you have lots of fun with the videos you make!
I used to be solely digital art but now traditional paintings, graphite, and charcoal is just so classy and appealing. Maybe it’s growing up, and definitely the AI epidemic, but it’s just so fun I feel so much more inspired doing physical media. Happy for you!
i am hype for the new traditional drawing channel it's giving the good vibes of like drawingwiffwaffles and as long as the new channel brings back your joy for art then I will back it with my viewership as hard as fuck
I’ve always loved the animated RU-vid channels. It’s unfortunate RU-vid doesn’t give animators more attention or audiences give more patience and understanding on how much time and effort a single video takes. But Daidus, your in JAPAN! Make memories! Enjoy the moments! Go hang out with Emily. It’s the Kiki conundrum of using your passion as your living. Take all the time you need. Your animations were always very interesting and goofy.
I completely understand. I took AP Art, and the constant need to produce to not fail affected me mentally, especially when a lot of things happened in my senior year. It left me burnt out and I stopped drawing for a long time. My love for art was dwindling for years until a few months ago
I got really lucky and took AP Art and an extra elective of normal art at the same time. Even then, many all-nighters were pulled trying to get drawings ready. It was a fun experience, but not one I want to relive.
Back in the day I much preferred digital art. Since I got back into art I'm actually liking traditional art more and more. It's like reading manga, I'd rather hold a physical volume in my hands than read it on a screen.
Been watching you since I was in middle school, and I just turned 20 last week. I think I can speak for a lot of us when I say we will never abandon you Daidus!! I've always loved watching your videos because they're funny and I can tell it's the type of content that comes straight from your heart. I'm literally always so excited for whatever new project you come up with, and I am SO hyped that you are reigniting your passion for art!! Too happy for you because you deserve it for the amazing videos and laughs you've been giving us all these years man. We love you Daidus, and Ima always be right here to support whatever content you put out cuz you're just that guy!! 🫶
honestly watching spilled ink video reignite my fire to draw again I quit like 5-6 years ago LMAO cus of parents and pressure but yea I'm doing it as a hobby now and I genuinely want to learn. Good to hear ur back King
Bruh, you’re videos are amazing no matter how long it takes! When it comes to animator RU-vidrs, I usually assume not to expect much in terms of speed since it takes time in order to get great results. In other words, just keep cooking cause I’mma be here when you start serving!
Okay that animation at the end was super cute. Great job so far on the videos so far daidus considering I barely got into your videos in the last year I'm loving watching some of your older stuff while also catching this new channels videos too. And it really is great to find you still love something you thought you were burnt out on. So congrats on discovering that.
It is like sport. Animation is basically running full on marathons. Drawing on paper is like a happy little workout. You have to convince yourself everytime to do that workout but when you do it, you get so happy, you question yourself why it was so hard to start. And it may happen every time that the start will burn you out. Daidus, you are just someone who takes your time. You may be slower doing productive things than others, but acceptance is key
This is why i always make sure to appreciate the animation and effort into these kind of videos. Cause i know how hard it can be so i never take these videos for granted. I think its also cause im a artist so i know how it feels too so. Hope your doing okay Daidus
Hearing you talk about how motivated and moved physical art makes you is so inspiring and it makes me excited just hearing about how it makes someone feel.
I’m glad to know that daidus is doing ok, honestly cannot express how relatable this vid is to all artists out there and it’s such a nice feelings knowing emirichu and you’re loved ones are there to help you out during these times. It’s message to daidus or anyone that mistakes is the first step to success so don’t fear or feel under pressure too much
I think it's great that u guys started a new art channel! Not only u guys get to hv fun with art, there's more content that u guys can work on other than animation! The channel honestly inspired me to go back doing traditional art again n honestly, i missed that! Thanks for updating us on ur situation. :D
I think a lot of people, myself included, relates a lot with the burnout process and finally getting out of it, getting inspired and passionate again for what you love (photography for me) and I appreciate the honesty man, I wish you guys the best on this new project that looks really fun
Okay professional yapper here to do some yappin... I've been watching Daidus since 2020, right at the start of the pandemic. I found him when I was really struggling with stuff, and his videos always made me laugh (had just watched Death Note and was loving the references). Not only did they make me smile, but they also inspired me to pick up my pencil again and start drawing. I hadn't drawn since I was really little, but Daidus' videos made me wanna try again. It resparked my love of art, and gave me something to look forward to. Recently, I've hit that roadblock again. This is a youtube comment section, so I'll spare my story lol, but I haven't been able to draw like I use to and it's been frustrating. This video was really comforting, and it reminded me that people struggle. And like that's okay (woah, shocker :O) sometimes we need to take a break, or try something new. when you look at it like that, it isn't too bad (still really scary ngl but hey baby steps :D) To sum up that big block of text: Thank you Daidus! I wouldn't recommend reading this but thanks for inspiring me (again) to keep drawing
Okay you’re definitely a professional yapper, out here speaking yappanese 😂. But this really is a very touching message. Life’s hard and I want you to know (although you probably already have) that like Daidus you have to take the time to look after yourself and jump back into old hobbies again. I wish the best for both you and Daidus and maybe one day you might start an entertaining RU-vid channel like Daidus. Hope this message help, wishing you all the best fellow squid 🐙
@@gabrielagbaeze2229 aslkdjahfkdas omg thank you so much! i actually did need the reminder -- it means a lot to me T^T 🐙 (you've made the yapper speechless haha)
Daidus you will always have a special place in my heart cause u helped me get passed some darker times for me, you we’re the thing that bringer more joy to my life so I really hope you can find joy on animating again, please be healthy and take the time you deserve!! I’ll always wait patiently for you
This video warmed my heart so much, I'm starting my journey in traditional art too, it's just yeah lots of stuff to do and a week without touching a pencil passes very easily. It's nice to keep getting inspired by a creator I love and just have relatability on a couple hardships. Good luck on Spilled Ink Daidus
I practically stopped drawing 10 years ago from burn out and I never really ever came back to it again, which sucks because I really loved to draw. I unfortunately got into a warped view of my art due to comparing myself, an amateur artist, to much more experienced (professional) artists and that's what made art stop being fun for me. I slowly started accepting that art isn't my thing anymore but recently learn that I have to change my mindset about drawing and stop pressuring myself to draw at a level I was never at. But also that there are other ways to be creative, like crocheting! All of this to say that in some way I feel you and glad you found a way to enjoy art again! I have subscribed to you and Emily's new channel :) Good luck!
honestly this makes me feel much better about the break im having from drawing, ive started to think that it might just not be for me, but this kind of gives me some sort of hope that i can still experience the joy of creating something on paper. thank you :DD
Not only as a "hey I'm alive" video but also just as a regular video, this is a banger, it might be my favorite video in your channel didus!! Idk I love how raw it was. If you ever run out of video ideas, just post whatever what's in your mind at the moment and we'll love it
As a University student getting a graphic design major, creative writing major, and studio art minor THIS IS SO. I knew you got it because you are also an artist but you don't get it like. The times i've gone 7 months to a YEAR without writing or drawing for myself....And sometimes I think HUH maybe it's over. Maybe I can't do it anymore. And then , yeah, when suddenly something happens to bring that motivation and feeling of love for your craft back and you realize ah damn here we go again. This is why I haven't quit since I was 11 in middle school. Like I understand man. 🤧 TBH never apologize for taking time for yourself. We all need it content creator or not and i'm glad traditional art has brought you back. I'm actually so excited!!!!
Bro you are honestly my favorite animator on youtube. I watched your videos over and over again all the time when I was in school. Your art style is very appealing. Beyond glad to have you back and hear about fruits of your labor. Have a great day man 😁
I've felt that burn out for years now and i always believed in this digital art speech, but im learning to go back to just start having a messy sketchbook and idk i feel rejuvenated and excited once again, feeling the passion of art that i thought i lost it.
I remember watching your videos along with various other animation/story-time channels during what I felt was the "peak" of the genre. Always loved your more unique sketch style and humor. Looking forward to the new channel and traditional art videos!!
I wish you all the best Daidus with getting back in track, sounds like you are very determined to find that love and passion again, and that's amazing! As a long-time subscriber, it will be nice to dive into new channel videos and just see you and Emily have fun with traditional art, I'm sure for many it will also be very inspiring (like for me for example, I have problems with getting back to drawing for a long time, and now I start to feel like I want to pick up pencil again). Wish you and Emily all the best of luck!!
YAY IM SO GLAD TO HEAR THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE WHO LOVE TRADITIONAL ART!! Sometimes you just wanna do a little pencil doodle yknow? I’m so pumped for the new channel, thank you for giving me faith in actual artists again in the midst of all this AI stuff
I can very much relate to the struggles of making videos, keeping up with it and the expectations you can put yourself under. Also that fear of starting over for each video it's always so daunting! But good job on taking care of yourself last year and working towards a new endeavour! I want to get back into traditional art too, glad Spilled Ink is doing well already! All the best Daidus!
Daidus… literally just do whatever makes you have FUN!! It sounds like that’s your gut telling you to do this, because it looks like it keeps nagging you to do it! You’re gonna have a lot of fun trying whatever you want to do, you’re going to learn new skills, it’s gonna change things up, you’re gonna add new audiences to your community, etc Good luck man! I’m so happy for you 👏
I've seen this video a bit late, but Spilled Ink has been one of my favorite channels the last couple of weeks. I think it popped up in my feed because of the Connor collab, but I've loved all of the videos so far! Can't wait to see what you guys make.
Brah, do what you gotta do. Been viewin' your stuff for many years now, and have more often than not been left pleased. Do what you conceive to be your duty, brotha!
I could honestly watch Daidus commentate paint drying or grass growing, so an entirely new channel with 30 minute videos (and Emily too) is a gift from Heaven. Love you, Daidus!
I recently have been learning how to create animatics and I soooo appreciate your video. It's SO MUCH WORK!!!! And everything your first time feels so much harder. Thanks for inspiring to create my first animatic, you and Emirichu.
Even though you are burnt out can I thank you for the Honkai Star Rail plug in your last video, I enjoyed the game and at least got Aventurine before phone storage ran low.
Glad you've found your groove in drawing again. I've been wondering for a long time now how sustainable it is to animate by yourself. I did some animation units back in the day and by god you're slaving away while Conner just plays games for content lol. I digress. Good onya!
daidus you're one of my biggest inspirations to pursue youtube, so I'm just really happy to see you fall back in love w/ art 💖 glad life is treating you and your strawberry grandma well!! ...anyways see you on spilled ink!!
