After months of documented problems with their Lion Electric school buses, Winthrop Schools took the buses off the road in February when one of them reportedly lost steering and braking and had to be driven into a snowbank.

This is very old news. Part of the problem is that for every electric bus they received, their old busses were destroyed. Why would breaking ever be affected? It should be a separate independent system.

Electric powered air compressor for air brakes failed. Electric power vacuum booster for hydraulic brakes. Remember mostly women drivers so when the vacuum booster goes out on the brakes even if it was standing up with all their weight on a brake pedals they won't be able to put enough force to stop it. Just take your passenger car parking on a hill turn the engine off and let it roll down the hill in neutral and see how hard it is to push the brakes down on the vacuum booster is out. Now scale that up to something the size of a school bus. Same goes for power steering.

School buses will all go electric sooner or later. These problems are not inherent to electric vehicles. This was a problem with a company that had/has poor quality control. Many cities already have electric public buses that work reliably.
