Mac is right about the doctor's. I actually blew out my left Achilles playing that damn sport. Many other players had suffered injuries. The game itself puts you in an unorthodox position that is ripe for injury. That plastic ball skips lower and teases you to go down and get it. Don't! Play relaxed and let the ball come to you. If not let it go by. Not worth ripping something.

@jaym8094 Год назад
As commentator, he never shuts up, talks over the matches, can't even hear the game being played, what the players might be yelling etc., because McEnroe won't shut up, he ruins the matches! I've been following the men's tour since the McEnroe days, was in the arenas, watched him play some of his live. Now at home, we want to hear the game being played, not McEnroe yapping the entire time, he thinks he's the main show, he's actually quite rude. Should be a rule that ALL commentators do NOT talk during match play, only during the player's breaks. When at a match live in the arena, everyone is hushed, to be quiet to hear match play, but when we stream live at home on the computer, we're subjected to the gosh awful commentators, who overtalk the matches and ruin them, why are they even there? We actually end up muting the match just to shut the commentator up, McEnroe is one of the worst, but then we can't hear the match at all. Have no idea why there ARE commentators, why can't we just watch the matches live stream as if we're in the arena watching them, that's QUIET. We don't need a play to play on what's happening, because we're watching it!

Tennis had destroyed themselves by allowing racquets that make it possible to hit the ball as hard as they do from the baseline. It has TOTALLY eliminated the serve and volley as a strategic option.......that's why Pickleball has taken off. Tennis has become boring because it's nothing more than huge serves and huge forehands.....it's worse than watching paint dry. We've talked at length about this very issue. Pickle Ball seems like a fun pickup game for people to play. But I don’t see it being that fun to watch. It’s like watching Table Ping Pong. Its a fad right now because it’s relatively new and fresh. Local tennis trainers are switching to Pickle Ball because of its popularity. I think that there will be tournaments and people making money of Pickle Ball but I doubt it would make any serious money. Tennis Has had big names making millions, but only a select few. Most Tennis Pros go to smaller tournaments across the world and make a paltry amount of money. Some barely make enough to live off, others need a full time job outside of tennis. Wonder what Pickle Ball organizers will do once the fad wears out. The freshness and FOMO pickle ball is getting on social is big right now. But say 5 years from now, only the super competitive people would be into it. The people who just do it for fun or FOMO will be gone.

I have been playing Racquet sports for 20 years. Pickleball is considered more fun because it's easier to get into, easier to play. So anyone who is new to the sport can pick it up and whack balls over the net pretty much off the get go and that translates into more enthusiasm for the sport and wanting them to play more and more of it. Tennis needs fundamentals, months of practice and a lot of basics need to be concrete before you are able to have a proper rally. Lobbing the ball back and forth is not really exciting nor considered playing the sport as it should be, but whatever it takes for the people to step on the court. Tennis also requires more fitness, stamina, strength, endurance. I can play tennis for one hour and be completely winded, unable to move, but I can play pickleball for two hours and still be down for another. As you get older, and you want to start a new sport that is easier on you, pickleball is a no brainer. For someone to pick up a difficult sport such as tennis in their 50's or 60's as a recreational sport will not come easy. Pickleball puts less stress on your body and is easier to play. Factors that make it very popular in the older demographic. It's also less expensive to play. Nice tennis racquets are now closer to $200 and as much as $200. And there is a big difference between racquets that are $100 vs $200/$300. Where as in pickleball a $60 paddle is just as effective in someone's hands as a $100 or even $150. And a $100 can get you a really really nice paddle (especially the B-stock that companies sell).

Couldn't agree more about pickleball.I play paddle tennis or Pop Tennis I guess they are calling it now.Ive played for 30 years and it's played on a slightly larger court with bigger paddles and a tennis ball that's not as lively as a regulation tennis ball.But the game is scored like tennis and there us Spec tennis now. Paddle Tennis has been around for 100 years and I don't understand how it wasn't as big as pickleball.I guess it's to fast and you have to actually run around alot more.But I'm with McEnroe I can't do it playing with a tiny paddle and a wuffle ball that is not predictable and floats slowly thru the air is not fun for me.I guess when I get to be 70 I might give it another try until that day I will continue playing PopTennis because it's more like tennis than any other paddle sport.Long live Tennis and Pop Tennis

Here’s the deal - PickleBall is vastly easier to master at an entry level degree of competency. Tennis - is not. To be able to control a tennis ball with a racquet, get it over the net and stay on the court as a beginner - is difficult. I have watched many a group show up on a public court and last about less than a half hour because they are frustrated at their inability to sustain a rally. That does not happen in pickeleball. Wives do not have to invest hundreds of hours so they can join their husbands and maintain the simplest back and forth. In the way that most people can keep a ping pong rally going, so it is with pickleball. the end. P.S. Before someone goes ballistic - focus on my word choices - entry level competency. This is not to denigrate people’s mastery as they progress in the sport.
