Looks terrible, had no character like splash mountain had. Because much of what's been happening to the parks and their failing movies I no longer do Disney which for me is sad because I grew up with Disney. I'll honor Walt Disney and stay with the classics.
David you are a treasure. All the content you provide for us is top-notch! And you do it with such excitement and passion. So happy to have you as a Disney & Parks creator in the RU-vid community. Hope to one day catch you at the parks!
The explanation is that it is an old salt mine that Tiana has taken over to grow stuff for her recipes. Apparently, there are big mounds of salt even near the bayou, but one that's has stuff growing on it and a flume running through it is a stretch.
The backstory of Tiana’s Foods is inspired by Tabasco. The Tabasco factory and plantation was on a old salt dome which used to be home to a salt mine and which rises 160ft above the surrounding bayou on the Louisiana coast.
Nobody understood the mountain for Splash Mountain either so I don't see the issue. Too many people are so nitpicky about this ride when nearly no ride makes any sense under that much scrutiny...
"People tend to react to the moment, rather than the potential." WOW! I've NEVER heard the state of online commentary summed up BETTER. I'm TOTALLY stealing that... Thanks for that amazing bit of wisdom, David. Well said!
We love the way you get so excited about demo, re-no, piles of dirt. We are watching new construction behind our house and get excited about new curbs and brick walls.
Fol-i-age, David, not folage. Haha. It's something that's annoyed me in videos from years ago too, but I correct with love and kindness.😊 The "i" needs to be pronounced!😆😆😆
I thought it was fascinating watching the the Grizzly River start to run! I’ve never seen that before, you got so very lucky. Thanks for sharing that with us 😸
It looks like old broccoli All covered with cheese I lost my Splash Mountain It's so sad to see But-the-ride-mechanics-are-the-same-so-its-fine-its-fine. Apologies to the classic, "On top of spaghetti" When it re-opens, you just might hear people singing Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah while waiting in line and on the ride.
Was at Disney World 3 weeks ago and Tianas mountain looked like Disney emptied Hobby Lobby of all their plastic flowers and glued on mountain..........
@@Pokie75 Webslingers although a bad ride, was definitely neither cheap nor trashy. It often still has high wait times and gave us a one-of-a-kind animatronic seen nowhere else and the success of which basically greenlit more animatronic projects.
@@thebluetarp Don't be so negative all the time. All you do is complain based on your comment history... Anyways, the foliage on the mountain was just recently installed and has not been given time to weather to fit in with the environment. Also it's not plastic because it has to withstand hurricanes but I wouldn't think you would think of that because you're clearly not a designer. Most of it is still real plants just like it used to be and probably even more so than Splash Mountain.
I still can’t believe what they did to Splash Mountain. The one at WDW looks terrible. While the animatronics look pretty solid (minus Tiana looking too old), the boring storyline and the exterior aren’t looking promising. They didn’t even attempt to redo the exterior to make it look somewhat decent. Cutting off its signature top, painting the middle green, sticking a bunch of fake plants to try and disguise it, and then having no plan on what to do to the mountain’s sides just shows how half ass this project was done. I’m calling it Hobby Lobby Mountain. If they would have done Mama Odie’s treehouse and followed the original concept, I would have accepted it because it at least shows commitment and creativity. This is just cheap, like everything they are doing now. And…. Add on top the irony of theming this “mountain” to a salt mine with ties to historic slavery is just the cherry on top while the original Splash Mountain had stories of overcoming oppression relating to the black community through Uncle Remus. Current imagineering at its finest. I mean it’s ironic the president of Imagineering they hired is now leaving. At least Bruce has history with the company; frankly, I started to lose faith in them when they ruined half of New Orleans with the Club 33 renovation. Maybe we will finally get some innovation. Sorry, I just needed to vent. And this is someone who enjoyed Princess and the Frog.
All the way over to the wall in front of what is now Tiana’s palace. I haven’t been since summer but it used to smell over there something awful. Like we would try and sit on the wall to eat and have to leave.
Dave are they ever going to get the water buckets working again over at the Treehouse? All of that time building it and it only worked for about two months if that?
I had to leave California for a couple years. Feels like I picked the perfect time 🤣 I was in that perfect window of being able todo everything in Galaxy's Edge, & the rest of the park before the updates. By the time I come back, everything should be fixed up and it'll be a new era at the park. Feels like we are crossing the threshold to a new phase of the park.
My guess for the Redwood Creek Challenge closure is partly repair of the rope lattice that you walk on. There are several areas that have broken through and been repaired. Maybe they'll renew all of the rope?
Dave I watched a vlog from Hey Bricky, and he mentioned about the secret of Rodger Rabbit. Did you know that it was to be two levels! Also he talked about where the Avatar Experience could possibly go , so check it out. Dave thanks for the update on Tiana's adventures and you are probably right about the pipes where the mangrove stumps will be installed.❤😂
FreshBaked. David, I went back through my records and I note that the pattern in the breeze block wall's at the "Plaza Building" near to the D/land hotels, "Marina Tower"( 1980). Are simular to the breeze block walls being used today at "DownTown Disney." I hope all the bricks that have been removed from the "Haunted Mansion" are going to be recycled, not just dumped? Cheers, Chris Perry.
Fair enough. David calls things by incorrect pet names (Harry Potter Land, etc.) all the time, and I still refer to Epcot as Epcot Center. If it makes you happy... go for it!
Hey David, love your construction updates. For the Slippin Falls enclosed area, it looks like those rectangles on the side of the enclosure are gonna be windows... Im not 100% sure but it looks like they are gonna add some windows there.
Right where they're doing this slip and falls and the way they did that structure I'm wondering if they're going to make it feel like you're inside the restaurant before they say oh we ran out of this ingredient and you have to go get it 🤔🤨
I like the swampy plants at MK but I hope they put more Spanish moss down at the boat return loop after the drop. It doesn’t look swampy enough and especially at MK that would be really easy to do. As for Epcot I wonder if the tiles on the front will be functional like the ones on spaceship earth. They use the water collected from those during rain to either fill the lake or water all the plants. I can’t remember which. But it’s a ton of water they collect with those tiles on spaceship earth. I can’t wait until the area is done I’m so tired of the walls. I moved to Florida from SoCal a year ago and I’m already over it. Imagine the people that have put up with it for 5+ years.
Oh look... at 24:26 Young Sam Simeon, 'Secret Squirrel' is on guard over the area! Be careful, he's a very wily security agent! PS: Thank you FreshBaked! For this fab-u-lous report!
Don't tease me! 😂 I have a trip planned the week after Memorial Day weekend. My fingers have been crossed that they will get it open by then, but it seemed impossible. I was hoping that will the long closure of HM they might speed things up a bit! Here's to hoping!
lol she sounded super confident! I definitely replied with disbelief and she doubled down with “yeah that’s what they’re saying!” She said splash was her favorite ride so she’s probably following it closely!
#savecrittercountry #savewinniethepooh at #disneylandresort critter country isn’t going survive without song of the south & the many adventures of Winnie the Pooh ride #downwithtianasbayouadventure #savewinniethepooh #savethemanyadventuresofwinniethepoohride
Here's my theory for the Slipping Falls tunnel: What if Disney is planning to add a firefly scene? Hence why they are making a tunnel, and why they're covering it up.
Aloha Dave..first a question Does any one believe that Haunted Mansion will be done when they are saying....I mean done..not open with things to address later like Toon Town(that still is not done) but done.... I for one do not see it considering the way things have gone with Disney the last few years... Disney..just please do it right the first time and leave it closed until you do.... Thank you Dave I love your construction videos!!
So we went from a mountain that was considered one of the iconic landmarks at disneyland park. It was one of the four mountains. There has been books made on this subject. And its being transformed into a Hobby Lobby Rainforest Cafe Hill with piles of green slime and fake foliage. I cry at what my beloved disneyland has become😢
4:55 they have added a lot of heavy duty shoring to that hill side. There's I beams and what looks like permanent shoring. I have to imagine that's for the elevator but wow.
I saw online people were saying that some of the wooden structures were being replaced with steel/metal ones in Redwood Creek and thats why theres a longer downtime
4:31 David, the wall you''re mentioning around the cemetery section is where the elevator is going for ADA access. You reported thats where they are putting the elevator is going.. to put in the elevator they need to open it up
Love the content David, bit got to ask when are you heading to Tokyo Disneyland and Disney Sea? Its amazing and the food and merchandise is far better than what we get here.
@@briansmoviesandmadness7415 I partially think the retaining wall is to make it easier to install the elevator, but it does mean there might be more flexibility when they rebuild the queue.
No more zipadee doo da?! That was such an iconic piece of Disneyland that did not need to be changed. I would understand if people didn’t enjoy the ride, but it was arguably the best ride at Disneyland. Sad times
I’m super excited for this. I know some people don’t like Disney change, but I do. I love that they are constantly updating, changing, and keeping things fresh. It’s so much fun to have something new to look forward to!
I have a personal theory- I think that enclosed area could potentially be a Dr Facilier area possibly because the big drop is Mama Odie (i wish the big drop was Dr Facilier because it makes sense "are you ready") but yeah, thats my theory.
They didn't lower the mountain, so unless the difference between a mountain and a hill is one old dead tree, then it either never WAS a mountain or it still is a mountain. In either case, complaining about semantics does nothing to change the reality that a new fun adventure is coming to Disneyland, and NOBODY complains about having fun.
Is it possible that some of the repairs of the HH are due to sewage repairs . People commented about smells in the cue. It appears at one time or another Disney made use of septic systems. Elevation is only 300 feet they may have had to process that which gravity could not help. It is somewhat common in Anaheim.
Quick question: are they doing all this construction work at night after the park is closed? I don’t see any workers onsite during the daytime hours that are shown in these videos. I’m assuming they work through the night.
I don't think enclosing Slippin Falls will be a major show element. The story of Tiana's takes place at night, so there can't be a section where you see the sun. MAYBE they'll add something else, but I doubt it.
Can you do a video on DVC! What's this about? How does it work? Who is this good for? IF you buy in...how hard is it to get reservations in Cali DVC. Love more inside info ...
I know it will look better when it is done because I have seen the MK videos and my daughter has seen it in person although I have been hitting Epcot more over the last few months but I have to say right now it looks like broccoli!!!!
lol I was at Disneyland on Monday as well and walked right past Tiana’s bayou adventure and didn’t even notice the new green lol But we did get stuck on Rise and had to do a walk off!!! Thanks for the videos David!!!
Does MK Splash Mountain/Tianas NOT have a Slippin Falls?! Forgive me but it's been 10 years since I've been to MK And I don't remember. I ask because there's never any footage of an enclosed area/tunnel of the MK Tianas. Made myself curious 🤔
😢it hurts to look at the mansion rn😢 tiana is looking great with the green though not sure I love the enclosure but I'm sure it will be good in the end. I very much enjoyed watching the river fill, I'm glad you caught that on camera❤❤❤
"That's alright dear, don't make a fuss. I'll have yours. I love spam! I'm having spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, baked beans, spam, spam, spam and spam!"
why why are they closing the mountian up? one of joys of the ride was the open air parts. If that now turns into just projections? come on, no, I hope not.
I understand wanting to build a new tower for the Poly but the style is sooo generic. If they had built something inspired by the royal Hawaiian hotel or something that looked like it was from 1960s Honolulu I doubt people would be complaining
I’m trying to reserve judgment on Tiana’s and I’m hoping for the best. But, I really hate that they are using fake plants for all the foliage instead of real plants like Splash Mountain had. The real plants on Splash were one of my favorite things about the ride. Honestly, one of my favorite things about Disneyland as a whole is all of the beautiful and unique plants and trees…..real plants and trees. This fake plastic stuff just isn’t it. Plus, I don’t imagine fake plants will age well or stay clean and fresh looking being out in the elements. Real plants would have been a much better route. But, hoping the ride inside will be awesome.
There’s still a chance they could use real plants :) it makes sense to use fake ones for the first layer but I imagine they could add real ones once the rest of the ride is settled
Fresh bake. I heard through a Podcaster that in Disney World they’re supposed to permanently close down is a small small world. Is there any truth to that and so does that mean that it’s a small small world in Disneyland may also shut down
Good thing Tiana's Bayou Adventure will have way fewer audioanimatronics. Moving figures in Splash Mountain were overdone & overused & aren't as good as widescreen images & static scenery. Another thing: DCA is way, way better than DisneySea.
I had looked at using get away today instead of undercover tourist like I normally do but I’ll stick to undercover as they will save me way more money undercover saved me 45 a ticket and getaway was only gonna save me 5 a ticket.
