Seth M., the wires became exposed and arced completing the starter circuit. That's why it kept trying to start. The kill switch also was arcing. Only way to stop it is to disconnect the battery.
you are only watching this video because how interesting it is. a lot of people being nice for 10 minutes and you wouldnt keep watching them. i dont know what you expected when you clicked on the video. there are way more nice people than the idiots in these videos.
PSA: If you ride a Dirt bike (or Dual Sport, Adv, etc etc) into the woods, trails or no trails, CARRY A *B* *&* *C* CLASS FIRE EXTINGUISHER, it can weigh as little as 5 pounds, and B Class is for Flammable Liquids, C Class is for Electrical Fire/Equipment. I'd highly recommend a *Carbon Dioxide Fire Extinguisher* so you don't have a white powdery mess.
You say this and I took the spark arrestor out of my exhaust, fr though keep even water on you or use your jacket. Especially if you get 20-30 miles deep in the woods
That's why we don't hop on bikes that make most "fast" cars look slow with no experience boy's and girl's. SlowR1rider was nice to turn around but dude that crashed should get himself to a MSF course if he plans in getting on a bike again.
@@booshting3520 100% agree, a third if not more of our drivers should be on a bus for the safety of others. Riders being able to hop on a liter bike with 0 experience is almost sanctioned suicide.
Yep, that new rider needs some good mentoring from a proper instructor before getting back on the road. Learning on a FZ6R my not be the best plan, either. Park the 150 mph sport bike for now, and learn on something slower, cheap and used - and more basic and easy to learn / control.
“Don’t pass on a trailers blind spot” what does that even mean, that car was just driving normally and the truck driver merged lanes right into them. Entirely the trailer drivers fault
Trucks or cars with trailers have what’s called a blind spot. That means that they can only see so much around them. Like semi-trucks can’t see behind them because of the trailer. That’s considered part of the blind spot. A car with a trailer isn’t gonna see you overtaking them when your basically hugging the trailer. The truck probably didn’t notice the car coming up on the right which is why the guy with the trailer ran into the car. It’s for that same reason that he probably didn’t notice he hit the car. Hence why he didn’t slow down or stop.
@@befamousornot That wasn't a pass. The grey sedan was travelling in his lane as he should and never made an attempt to pass the truck/trailer. The truck/trailer was moving at a slower speed than the sedan is all.
In Europe it is allowed to overtake cars on the right in urban areas, as it is to drive on the lane that best suits your destination, so if you want to drive straight or make a left turn you can be on a lane that isn't the right most. As for the blind spot, that car was absolutely not on it, he was exactly where the right mirro is suposed to look at. It was the Truck's fault for chaging line without cheking.
Happens quite a bit with dirt bikes. The fire burned the rubber off of the wires going up to the handle bars and the positive grounded out to the starter button. Most of the time hitting the kill switch won’t do anything at that point
2:00 No, Slanders Pete. Locking up the rear wheel is not "having trouble downshifting". She is having trouble understanding that front brakes on any vehicle account for about 80% of the overall braking and learning to modulate the front brake effectively is absolutely paramount to good motorcycle riding. It's your best asset. Downshifting is second and she wasn't downshifting either. She was coasting in neutral/clutch disengaged. Another sign of riding weakness.
am i the only one who laughed my ass off at the guy on the scooter? lmao! looks back and turns back around and starts scooting without a care in the world
4:46 Oh, I laughed so hard. Cyclist being a cyclist with no sense of safety, makes a turn against traffic without proper caution or looking to see if any other vehicles were coming, and has a collision. Unclear if he was mad at, or apologizing to the scooterist (hard to see what hand gesture is made, tbh) LOL... Edited to add: I am glad no one was seriously injured. That could have been a motorbike coming around the bus and could have been far worse.
I'm a cyclist and i do not approve of this reckless cyclist LOL. The biggest problem with pedestrian/cyclist isn't them "breaking the law" It's how they do it. And clearly this one has no sense of judgement. Expect the unexpected. If i have clear sight of an intersection (particulary stop sign, and i frequently pass there) i may just roll through it without slowing down. But when you get one big ass bus/truck blocking your view you gotta brake and check. There's nothing more careless than a cyclist blowing through stop sign and red light without looking if it's safe. When i was yougher i passed through a T-Intersection riding by the top of the T. A truck was parked along side my direction and a cyclist on foot popped from behind the truck the second i was crossing. I was at fault and destroyed this man's front wheel. Lucky for him i was repairing bikes back then and it was close from home so i changed his wheel for free obviously. His old wheel was totaled.
@@casualrider5970 all I saw was a hand gesture. There wasn't any audible conversation. Very difficult to see even in full screen, but on second look his palm may have been outward.
I'd say if you wanna put out a fire with dirt, try and gather as much dirt as you can and throw it all at once. Makes smothering it a lot easier than tossing lots of small heaps.
That's great fun; one sees directly at 2.35, ay that's Sweden ha ha ha. Falu red Fe-sulphate & white paint. Home! Great vid ha ha ha, we are great jokers after all :)))
As a rider for a very decent amount of time with a driving course and raised around bikes, this channel was the the best thing I came across on youtube for a long time. It isnt the channel's fault as most riders with video use it for insurance purposes, but this channel is getting to be nothing but inexperienced riders with waaaay too powerful bikes messing up, or attention seeking douches making mountains out of molehills. Moto, go back to roots if you can, and screen videos. this was a learning tool for me, and now its horrible riders who think they are good, and 37 dirtbikes and 4 wheelers causing multiple felonys.
I'm quite new to the channel but agree. Seems to me that at least 30/40% of content here is rider's fault/ego. An inflated sense of entitlement and rubbish attitude isn't going to keep you alive. Ride safe. Cheers.
9:55 , am not a biker but if the cables are out of isolation and they come in contact you have what you see :D , this is why ALWAYS when you see any vahicle on fire you should unplug its battery.
Maybe, but my guess is the owner screwed up. Supposedly been out on the bike only a couple of times, but look at all the purely anesthetic mods. Going on a dirt ride without water. It doesn't scream "knowledgeable and experienced rider." Best guess ... he didn't reattach fuel lines properly after doing all of his "upgrades."
This is the second KTM video that I've seen them catch fire and keep cranking the starter. That load on the ground cable to the starter will cause it to get hot to the point that it catches fire.
You’re just lucky you don’t drive around a bunch of idiots. Even in a car I almost get in 5 accidents a day here. People just don’t look or don’t care at all and pull out right in front of you or ignore traffic lights.
That happens in my home town too, there are some very bad and ignorant drivers. But I just keep my eyes open and ride as if I am invisible and pay attention because I know most drivers dont.
@@johnnyjohansson16 Other people make really bad mistakes. Not because they’re bad drivers but because 9/10 times, they just don’t see you. A good motorcyclist knows how to anticipate other drivers making mistakes, but that doesn’t mean they don’t.
That was an electrical fire. After some burning, the starter circuit shorted to something with constant voltage. Kids lucky, I don't know if I'd have been throwing fistfulls of dirt at 2-3 gallons of fuel next to burning electrical fires.
Why was SlowR1’s friend riding? And R1 was a terrible riding partner, there’s no way he didn’t know this guy couldn’t push the bike like that. Especially after nearly skidding out. Unreal man he’s got a death wish
@@Shrumbody cause us young dudes think we are cool just because we own a bike lmao I got humbled real quick acting like a Moron/being unexperiaced lucky my bike and I was not to messed up after that ipracticed in a lot for weeks lol
Dude on the white bike was so lucky. A friend in school went through one of those fences on his bike, it was a closed casket funeral. Rescue said he was about ten pieces.
Tbh, the adrenaline when involved in a crash makes you not feel if you are really injured or not so he stays like that or dies by trying to get up not noticing he had many broken bones, not like this was the case but has happened so many times, i'd personally do the same.
There's at least one video of a KTM Duke doing the same thing. They were heaping handfuls of dirt on that one too. KTM really should start supplying fire extinguishers with them. There's also a review of a long term test Duke where it took like a month to get the dash replaced because it fried itself.
I enjoy the channel very much you have great content I ride a chieftain dark horse and I just got a new helmet cam so I might be sending you some footage this spring
😳 wooo! That's the first time I've seen a KTM catch fire! That's hectic, I'd be crying and swearing a blue bloody streak if it was my KTM for sure... There a few thing's in life I appreciate as much as a beautiful off road bike.
3:47 No, Cruiseman's Garage. There is no such thing as a "blindspot". It only means you didn't adjust your mirrors properly. If you were correct, then what you're saying is that no one can ever pass that person, for you would always, at some point during the overtake, be in their "blindspot". Such silliness.
Do you have a drivers license? Do you drive a car or ride a motorbike? All vehicles have a blindspot. That is why you turn your head when changing lanes, entering traffic and so on. Why do you think modern cars have a thing called "blindspot-warning system"?
@@ischwhit6747 i didnt think of that. Good point. That actually makes a lot of sense considering the starter was trying to strt itself so most likely leading to electrical malfunction
Oh my bike is on fire. I’ll just take my sweet ole time trying to put out the fire. A handful of dirt here….maybe another scoop…..la de daaa….oh look some acorns! The lack of sense of urgency is astounding
"every new ktm now comes with an attached foldable shovel should your new dirt bike decide to spontaneously combust you can use the shovel to try and extinguish the flames by throwing dirt on your ummm dirt bike" lol
