Yes, they literally made a Hearts of Iron 4 world cup where all kind of teams and nationalities fight against one another to win it all in HOI4 esports.

As someone who played in horst cup (other games), I am happy at the strategy played by Austria-Hungary Axis, they exposed bad unit structure in africa(after original breaking earlier), they go for coastal counteroffensives in DDay, and they do a huge push into Russia, amazing play, amazing coordination.

While I’m not a huge fan of competitive Hoi4 because of how structured and rigid everything is setup (I know it’s done for balance,) but seeing the intense micro and defensive planning is incredibly fun to watch

Yeah looked like the Allie’s panicked hard during their struggles in Egypt. They made a lot of costly mistakes, losing hella divisions for free. They gave Japan reign to do whatever.

the endsieg buff let Germany go all in on D-day... wasn't fair towards allies. Without that insane buff the east would have fully collapsed especially on Germany's side. edit : the axis is crippled in this mod, but, there has to be a better way to balance it out than a 30% attack and defense bonus, too cheesy.

Finally a different outcome! Crazy how well axis has to play to actually pull of a win. Biggest criticism, should be way more balanced. US could only focused on Europe, insane how long it took till Japan was allowed to put pressure on Russia, helping their allies. Still it was great to watch, very entertaining and nice to see a different outcome!

US could only focus on Europe cuz Japan nuked their pacific fleet lol. They had no chance after that. So all they could do was focus completely in Europe. I just feel that the Allie’s panicked too much and got reckless.

As a former japan main on one of the the best vanilla mp hoi4 teams I gotta say that japan went hard. Made me wanna play mp again. Japan can have some glorious impact, Japan is fun to play on competitive mp teams because your expectations are so low, but if you win big in the naval war or catch Allie’s sleeping you can all of a sudden become unstoppable and rolllllllll

Not sure but this mod is definitely giving too op buffs. Shouldn't e-sports rely on something else like micro and macro management? It looks more like eu4 or stellaris tournament where it relies more on random. Still hope everyone had fun

@@seemops300 I played it for more than 1k hours I surely can tell you that random does a lot of stuff in the game from events to rulers or their length of reign and traits. And don't forget the dice rolls or generals. Every game requires skills and experience but I think e-sports in hoi should be more about planing and not relying on modifiers what people usually do in eu4.

@@user-pn3gz7dq3j EU4's combat would be horrendous for competitive play, for sure. Those dice rolls are awful for a combat system - way too luck based. And like you said, tons of random events could take you right out of a game in a high level competition.

@@matthewcarroll2533 Yea and I don't like that those combat modifiers go into hoi. For example some mods just make German tanks stronger because they are German and nothing else. This is clearly more eu4 game rules where each country has its own army quality

Well Italy Is an important nation to take out, when Barbarossa starts, the priority shifts from Africa to the USSR and D-Day of there Is, meaning the Allies could push in Africa, retaking Cairo and try and invasion of Sicily.

the reason why you hold in the front is that you get a defense buff until the winter if you hold in front of the Stalin line. This is to encourage Soviet players not to just camp behind the rivers

Soviet Union had to fight against the entirety of the axis alone here, allies were utterly incompetent. I feel bad for the USSR player, Japan was crazy good too. The two MVPs here were the Soviets and Japanese.
