Turning a hobby into a business. That’s called “winning.” Congratulations, Jody. I hope this venture succeeds beyond your wildest dreams.

Just a follow up on this watch. Received mine in teal with the flat link bracelet last week. It is very nice. The teal is quite striking in person. Very good fit and finish, the included mini-screw driver works great for removing links in the bracelet. The micro adjust is a bit stiff, but works well. I expect it to wear in over time. Things I love: Supporting Jody's channel. Muted brushing across all surfaces, but still fine enough to reflect light as you move about. The dial isn't too busy. Just a very simple layout that does what it needs to do. The lume. Oh my. So much! And even on the bezel markings. The bezel lines up perfectly with the 12 pip and has very smooth operation. Moans and Niggles The date window is a bit small. I know it is intended to line up with the 6 pip, but I think both could have been a bit larger. It's a bit top heavy at 83grams without the band, but not unbearably so. Less than a week of wearing and the bracelet strap is already scratching more than I would expect. Update on the scratches. I was able to polish what looked like a tool scratch on the clasp off. it put a bit of a shine on the band, so I restored the brushed finish with 2000 grit sand paper. Looks fresh out of the box. Overall, couldn't be more pleased. I look forward to years of enjoyment and can't wait to see what you offer next.

As a retired engineer/project manager your design and production process is straight out of a text book. You in particular, and Mr P as well, have done yourselves proud. I wish you every success. Great looking watches! You probably didn’t think about this but it really hit me that your black and blue models could make someone a nice affordable Tudor Pelagos alternative. They are completely their own design but def gives me similar no-nonsense tool watch vibes. Great job!!!

I'm calling out 36mm diameter, 52mm lug to lug, 45 click bezel, 3mm unsigned crown, male end links, no lume, sterile case back, 2 positions of micro adjust, no on the fly clasp. 6 month warranty, 6 lines of text on the dial, short hands, printed dial. $1799US price :D

41mm is above my weight class. The watch seems nice in many ways. Bigger wrist owners would enjoy.

I’ve always quite fancied the Sinn U1 and the Tudor Pelagos FXD has caught my eye too so it’s no surprise that I’ve instantly fallen for an Origin. Never purchased a micro brand before and it’s been many years since I bought at this price point but this watch’s specs are amazing - order placed for the black variant!

Well... I'm not 100% convinced by the hands... I think the white border oversizes them. I would love to see how the black border ones look on the black dial, for example. Part of me thinks they would be more in proportion with the rest of the watch. That said, I really like it, its a beautiful no non-sense tooly watch, congrats! :)

Irrespective of how JWC turns out to be - you should be super proud of the community you have build and how far you have taken your passion - very impressive! Best of luck and can’t wait to see the watch.

Thanks Jody for making these watches for watch enthusiasts. The watch looks fantastic, especially the blue dial. My only suggestion is I prefer the bracelet to taper to 16 mm instead. It’s more comfortable and looks more elegant, in my opinion. Anyway, good luck with your first watch.

my only complaint is I'm sized out of this watch even with the short lug to lug. I LOVE the purple. If you ever make this in a 38mm and in the purple it's an instant buy from me.

Very impressive initial foray. Love the color options. In the future, it would be great to have a chronometer, COSC or other comparable movement for improved accuracy.

Fantastic! I appreciate the second hand squares lining up so perfectly. It seems quite tough to come up with something unique in a design that is over 70 years old, but I think your team has done a great job in actually doing so. My favorite is the black and the red.

Very, very nice. A great combo, very well thought out and designed. I feel they have an exciting mix of a Tudor and Sinn vibe, but at just a fraction of cost. I love everything you've done here. The dial colorways, bracelet and strap options are fantastic. ...And yes, I totally agree the Seiko NH35 is always a safe bet. I have several in my collection with that diehard, reliable movement and have never had an issue.

Those hand sizings! Reaching to the exact correct ends of the indices, with the seconds hand paddle doubling up to equal the full size indices!! My head exploded with joy. I love the matt colours, matt all the way. It's just such a shame I haven't bought an indie microbrand watch for several years now. Though I'm seriously considering it.

I think this has got to be the most complete package I've seen for a watch ever - design, specs, attention to detail, warranty, accessories.... Well done Jody and team! Now, to find $300 for ANOTHER watch... Just one more?!

Congratultions on your new baby. The design appears to be incredibly well-considered, ticking all the boxes, and avoiding the little annoyances of so many other dive watch brands. Ensuring production QC will be your greatest challenge moving forward, as will be watching out for identical knockoff product out the back door of the factory if you're making these in Asia.

Holy smokes!! Jody!! You ticked all the right boxes (for my taste anyway)!! Bravo! I mostly like the small details about the second hand covering the hour markers and the hour and minute hands reaching out right up to the edge of the markers. I’m also happy you’ll be revisiting the tolerances on the curved h-link bracelet b/c, in my mind, it’s the most comfortable. Other than the “boring” movement (which is a solid choice nonetheless), I can’t seem to find any faults to your creation!! My Erebus Origin arrived yesterday. I couldn't be happier. Straight out of the box, resized, and out of the house to friends for a social evening within a couple of hours. Great size and weight, very well finnished, brilliant loom, and excellent bracelet.

Congratulations Jody. The hands have lots of surface area and lots of lume. The design is fantastic! The on the fly micro adjust is icing on the cake. The only niggle I can think of is wishing for drilled lugs but you did use quick release spring bars so that's forgiven! The price makes it a great value!

This is the most anticipated release since Michael Jackson’s “Bad” album. Here’s hoping it’s actually good.

Congrats Jody, they look awesome! Big fan of the NOT GLOSSY bezel (which every new dive watch seems to sport these days). Case, bracelet, lume, WR, attention to detail...these appear to have them all. Hope they sell like hot cakes. And am now very curious as to the next pieces you have in the works.

Well done to you both for putting this project together. Combining this spec sheet, this price and what I'm sure will be excellent quality is a fantastic achievement. I really like the dial texture, especially on the white dial. It's reminds me of the Kuoe Smiths watch based on Washi paper. I didn't realise I needed another tooly dive watch, but come to think of it... do I really need all the Seikos?

Congratulations, Jody! Wishing great success with your new venture. The watches look beautiful! The only two factors holding me back is the absence of a chapter ring and, not having applied indices. BTW, you mentioned in the video that the purple color had a splash of yellow by the hour markers and the seconds hand, but seconds hand appear to be all white, even on the Erebus site pics. Personally I would have liked seen the tip of the seconds hand AND the minutes and hourly hands in yellow. Cheers!!

NH35A is NEVER a problem if you wish to keep your watch. Think about it. Movement is produced in mass now, and for many years to come. Even in 100 years plus, there will be unused, off-the-shelf movements available - you (or your grandchildren) wouldn't need to pay a watchmaker to fix your watch - just drop-in replacement! It's an excellent choice for a tool, every day wear watch.

Received my yellow Origin today (2/16/24 - USA). It is amazing. Was a bit worried about the color - different sites made it look different shades. But it is absolutely perfect - really bright, but not brash. And the markings are surprisingly crisp. Even better than expected! Thanks Jody.

I'm not really looking to add another diver to my collection, but I think this is a solid first offering. Looking forward to watch number 2

Congrats Jody! Delighted to watch this video and finally get a look at it. A very solid offering. Blue is my fave, followed by black. As you say, it ticks a LOT of boxes for the price. One thing I would mention- I’m glad you’ve offered the flat H bracelet. The case looks very angular (which I love), and I’m not sure the rounded bracelet goes as well with it. So it will definitely be the flat H for me. Just my thoughts. But a huge well done and I wish you all the best with the launch. 👍🏻

Congratulations Jody 🎉. It's a great looking diver. I like the design a lot. I have been waiting for weeks up to this morning to order it until I saw those disappointing dimensions. Too big for my tiny six inch wrist, especially when its a diver model. I have really expected a diameter somewhere between 38-40 with 44-45 lug to lug.

Great watch Jody! Would be nice, for example on the blue one, to have the seconds hand in white and turning blue like the dial near the pinion (also for the hour and minute hand).

Good luck with this Jody, I suspect you won’t need it. For me though, either the case size or dial need to be a bit smaller. 39mm would be preferable. Hard to tell on camera but the dial also looks a bit flat, applied markers or at least the logo would be a step up for the v2. I guess cost was an issue. All the same, I do like it and think you have a good chance of selling out swiftly esp with your loyal fan base. 🙂

I would've liked a bit more tapering on the bracelet but again, for the price, it's perfect as is. My only problem now is which colour should I get? My favourites are, the blue, the balck, abd the red.

Congrats for the launch! I like well-made divers, interesting colors and readable, rather chunky watch hands, so you hit the nail on the head with this first model. I just ordered the purple variant and can't wait to get it on my wrist. I love the logo and the name too btw, it took me a bit to notice the letters E and B hidden in the logo. Good logos are really hard to come up with.

something I could buy. But... - the clasp is not snug with the bracelet. Reminds of Ali watches. No well known traditional brand has such a gap. - I suspect legibility of the narrow date window with 2 figure dates.

I discovered your channel by the time you released the first Helm review, you often say it's a special watch for you, and I see some tribute to it, right in the first seconds of showing the Erebus, and I find that beautiful. Very solid watch, thoughtful and reasonnable process, I believe we already invented how to do good business long ago, and you seem to follow that path instead of struggling by reinventing the wheel. I'm very happy for you Jody, and I wish you both a great success :))

I've nearly bought the black dial version. However, it's just a little too big for me as it seems equivalent size to the submariner. I'm looking forward to seeing the smaller version of this or other style watches from Erebus!

Congratulations on a job well done! Great value indeed, and a good looking industrial design. I appreciate the attention to detail and no corners cut. I would definitely gone for the purple one myself had it not been for the size. The diameter is well over what I prefer for my 7" wrist, and I'm still surprised you settled on 41mm despite your explanation, as it's even larger than the crowd-pleasing 40-20 that you're often referring to, but I would have loved this at 38mm. The lug to lug is at the upper end, but with big H-links that jut out, it'll wear even larger as well (17:52). I definitely understand the need to appeal to a broad audience with a first launch, but I guess I just didn't expect that you would settle on the higher end of that bellcurve dimension-wise as it's kind of a mismatch with my perception of your own personal preferences that I've thought were more akin to mine, that's all. A solid design though, nice dials, and I even like the brand name. Please explain the logo in the future though, as it seems interesting as well. I wish you both every success, as it's clearly deserved, and I hope to pick up one of your future models! All the best from Norway

Wow, the Origin ticks all the boxes and at such a great price, your years reviewing watches has certainly paid off. I would have been ordering a purple or teal but sadly it is a bit too big for my 16cm wrist. A 39mm with 45mm lug to lug would have been perfect but you can't please everyone. I hope it sells well and looking forward to future releases.

i love the black white and purple dials with the contrasting colours for the seconds hand pointer and dots .they are are spot on! i kinda wish the other dial colour options had that too. eg if that blue dial had an orange or red pointer and dots, it would be in my cart already!
