We first covered our body to protect from extreme climatic conditions it safeguards us from outer climatic conditions. One wearing a lot of cloths in a snowy reason and another wearing a bikini on the beach are both reasonable because they fit that climate. But now coming to niqab, ur question is valid why should it be wrong to cover your body? Let me give a scientific reason, I live in India and we have a lot of different climate with respect to which state u live in and one has to agree that as u said niqab is a dress code of islam universally hence they wear it even in extreme hot conditions too. As someone who has worked in diagnostic centres in summer season there is always an extreme peak of patients coming for skin rashes and other such diseases and majority are Muslim women, why is it so, it's because the niqab helps absorb the heat of sun and the sweat is what causes those rashes (especially with hijab that is black). Secondly many times some cultural practises are enforced on people from their childbirth even if it's at times problematic to ur own health and issue is the same with women it's not a choice given but something administered from childhood!!,

I would really like to ask those persons (we can't even know whether they are women or men): How would you feel if I, because of my religion or cultural beliefs, entered this room to have this conversation, fully naked? I'm Brazilian (or could I be African or Australian, for that matter) and in these countries there are many peoples, tribes, communities, ethnic groups who live naked, or almost. Would you accept comfortably to be here talking to someone completely in the nude, out of respect for the religion or culture and his human right to freedom of religion?

No excuses, and dress-code compliance was cotrolled at the entrance to the building. Everibody not in compliance were sent back to the residentioal area to change.

I am a Speech & Language Therapist and it has been demonstarted across many, many studies that between 85-97% of communication is non-verbal and facial expressions constitute a major aspect of this. This doesn't even take into consideration the safety aspect and ability to identify a person specifically. There have been issues where men (& women) who are Islamist extremists have exploited the niqab to hide their identity. We are a society which is tolerant, but I do feel we have been pushed too far in the name of this now. Western civilisation and community does not accept this as a majority clearly. Why should we cater to this? If they wish you wish to live within our community they should abide by that community's societal norms? Surely true democracy means that the majority should outweigh the minority when implementing the will of the people?
I know for certain that working as a Speech and Language Therapist would never be a career option for any lady wearing a niqab. Caseloads definitely would be unable to accommodate female only patients. The same as other NHS professions given how stretched we are. It speaks volumes that the Doctor employed within the NHS is unable to work wearing a Niqab. Surely the acceptance of this rule/norm speaks volumes in itself?

As a Westerner , i find the full Niqab very offensive and intimidating . It's like having people around you dressed in Ninja suits . There is nothing more comforting than a smile , or being able to make Eye contact when mingling with people at a supermarket etc .

Indeed, walking in Iran I had stones thrown at me by completely covered women, I have to admit to throwing them back at them in disgust, I was actualy covered up more than an Indian woman might be in India, it's all relative I know, but I just don't understand women that cover their faces, I believe it's tantamount to hiding one's personality, it has definitely been driven by Muslim men!

These women are missing the point. Many people fear them because they don't know what's underneath those garments. Some of the reasons why people are against the niqab are; 1. Wearing a niqab poses a security risk. 2. Wearing a niqab can make it difficult for others to interact with the wearer, especially those who are deaf or hard of hearing. 3. Wearing a niqab is incompatible with Western values, such as gender equality. 4. Some say that wearing a niqab can impede communication and integration. Many say that in the light of increasing terrorist attacks over the last 10-20 years, wearing a niqab is a sign of growing Islamic extremism. I'm of the opinion we should follow some of our European cousins and ban full face coverings in schools, universities, banks, hospitals, GP surgeries and public buildings.

Someone invited for as a progressive politician has now become the deputy of the greens party in my country. That party expressed no support for Israel and immediately (within two days) started campaigning for Palestine. It shocked me deeply to my core. I am a woman living in Istanbul, Turkey. I am not Turkish, and I am a Christian. In Istanbul, you can dress as you like-whether covering up, wearing full face coverage (though it is not forced on anyone), or dressing as people do in the West. The population of Istanbul is around 20 million, regardless of what the official data says. In recent years, more and more Arab people have bought houses here, and you can see more fully covered women. If someone lives here long enough, it is possible to distinguish between locals and non-locals. I want to share an incident that happened to me a few years ago. I went to my workplace to pick up my salary and then had to go to work. I decided to buy something to eat, so I stopped by a small bakery. While I was waiting in the queue, 4-5 fully covered women (in black long robes and full face coverings) came in, chatting loudly and pushing around. I felt someone push me from behind, heard a "sorry," and then they left. When I exited the bakery and wanted to put money on my travel card, I couldn't find my purse. I went back to the bakery and asked if they had any cameras recording. They checked the footage while I returned to my office to ask for money, even though I had just been paid. I went back to the bakery, where the boss kindly showed me the footage. It became evident that one of these fully covered women had taken my purse. This happened in one of the poshest areas of Istanbul. Thanks to this incident, I feel uncomfortable being close to anyone fully covered in a market or on public transport. I want to see everyone's face and hands uncovered. I can't trust anyone in these long robes. If women were to reverse the situation, it could mean a death sentence in some cases. Even though I dress modestly, it would be impossible to walk by myself in places like Kabul without being fully covered. I have mixed feelings about fully covered women shouting about their rights in Europe. I wish them well, peace, and mostly that they find Jesus.

All western countries should band the niqab. It's obvious in this video that they don't care what we think or how we feel. It's only about them. I've had it I have no more tolerance for these types of Muslims.
According to the Qur'an, women were made to ware the niqab for one reason. Back in the day, a special field was used for toilet purposes. One day, a friend of Muhammad, followed the women of Muhammad's house into that field. He was discussed by how much flesh the women exposed. So he complained bitterly to Muhammad about it. Muhammad then demanded that the women had to cover themselves, so their flesh couldn't be seen. This includes covering their eyes! The niqab born. It's a mobile outhouse!

As a woman I will never understand a woman being okay with being told to hide your face…..it’s oppressive unless the men are also forced to hide theirs.

Allah prescribed it and men enforced it. Women are easily brainwashed and as a woman unless you believe in individuality you'll just follow what is being told to you. We are made to submit either to men around us or to ideologies and these are both the case for these women.
As a woman, I have been told to "smile" had my chest groped and had my cloths commented on walking down the street numerous times from being 13, so being hidden from the "male gaze" and their sense of entitlement over my body, sounds like a positive choice to me.
I am amazed how someone can talk about „reaching out to others“ while essentially being invisible. Because without showing our faces and facial expressions to others, without those subconscious minute movements that we learn from childhood to read and recognise, it is impossible to really connect with other people. That‘s why children are afraid of those women and they make even adults feel uncomfortable. Instead if recognising this as a serious and insurmountable break in human interaction, these women want to educate us?

Men enforced this extreme dress not women. France is wise, correct and responsible. Many Muslims quietly and in private, totally agree with French rules.
How do their doctors recognise them or examine them during a consultation? I am a physician from India and this problem has started only in the past few years. Muslim women did NOT cover their faces or burqas during my schooltime or my college time or during my professional education. I have been practising my profession since 19 years and since the past 5 years, I have been facing this new problem. Now, I have asked such muslim women that I can't help them because I can't even request them to remove it to see their face and communicate or burqas to examine them.

The debate is about a religion, not a specific country or culture. Islam inforced by the extremists and western imperialism and capital interest through the means of war is why Afghanistan is in its current nightmare state. I would know as a non-Muslim Afghan.

What is going to happen in Britain, Europe and the USA is inevitable. It is already too late. The Trojan horse keeps making return journeys and those in power allow it to happen. Yes, absolutely. I'm hard of hearing, not total but enough to dread the invisible mouth - and also disabled on crutches so slower moving. Covid with the masks was rather isolating and difficult. Being locked down alone, then going out and not being able to understand anybody at all. So then folk shout ( trying to help, but it's just more senseless muffly noises), then they start to get hot and bothered and the queue starts to grow longer, and you can feel the communal huff pounding on your back ... So you just nod and hope they didn't just ask "would you like anything else?" 🤤!!! Or "are you trying to rob the place?" 🤡 Or "does my bum look big in this burka ?" 😲 ( seriously, i'm too unwell to cope with being arrested ). Deep down it feels odd somehow, almost like the weaponisation of our hard won human rights ....

Their faith isn’t even 2000 years old. Maybe eventually they will discard this stupid practice when they catch up to the rest of western society. But I doubt that, they’ll just displace western society with their sharia law.
This is the issue it's all a complicated web of fear, shame and cowardice. These veiled women are only doing it out of fear of their families, community and themselves. It's why they flock to the West because they know the culture is antiquated and disordered. But they can't bring themselves to admit it as they are in fear. That's why this faith is so violent because they know it's not fit for the current century. That's why they don't flock to Riyadh but come to quaint England, for it's freedom. They are all waiting for that single person to admit that it's just not working anymore. Meanwhile the west has to babysit this pivotal dilemma of theirs.
I used to be completely tolerant of any faith in our country and believed in complete freedom of expression, but the more I learn about Islam, the more consern I feel, about these issues.

Absolutely. Secular means no special treatment. I value the principle of freedom of religion. I want anyone to have their beliefs and be able to be part of the same social fabric. The same people and society and community. But that means that we all must be comfortable being individual citizens first that are behaving free from religion in the general community. That community must supersede our religious traditions. Including our own religion. Our laws, our public spaces, our clothing choices. These must be able to be religion free. Especially in matters of security. I think that western nations have done an outstanding job integrating a wide range of beliefs and peoples. But there are limits to that. If you want to believe in ritual blood sacrifice of humans, as the Aztec religion (and others) did for holy reasons. Sorry, thats beyond the scope of acceptable. You are not free to do that religious practice. Society has rules that are far more important. Covering your head like a bank robber, sorry. If you want to do so on a ski slope thats fine. But not in a bank, a school, a courtroom, or many other places. But the clothing isnt the only point of contention with the religion. There are far more issues outlined in the Quran, and modeled by far too many of their believers that is outright against the formation of an integrated and secular social fabric. At best, its isolationist. Separate communities, separate ethics, separate legal codes. Separate, separate, separate. Sorry, but we just cant integrate the majority of Muslims because they are unwilling to integrate (or tolerate) anything other than Sharia. That doesn’t work.

I am not deaf, but many times have to semi-lip read folk whose English is not their first language. My doctor for one. On the phone i can barely understand him at all. Terrible. Take them off.

I lived in Zanzibar, a 96% Muslim island, for 8 years full-time and hardly leaving. It is uncomfortable and disturbing to pass by someone wearing a Niqab and it never got more comfortable the more I was exposed to it. It is an absolute threat to women's rights in the west.

So there are many reasons to show your face. The reason men used to lift their hats, was showing the persons he met, he was HARMLESS (a knight opening up his visor to do the same). Do I know, there is a woman under that heap of cloth? Could be a man (THEY are forbidden to dress up like that, but do they really comply?) or even a new robot prototype, that would not yet pass as human. It is a good dress, if you happen to be caught in a sandstorm - climate-change might bring those even to Middle-Europe, but not today! Everything of this "religious covering-up" yells at you: "I am the better person, because my place in heaven is secure and YOU won't pass, because you are way too naked!" What was the reason, Adam and Eve had to leave paradise? Not for being naked (as the Lord made them) but for the opposite reason: covering up and hiding!
