I knew him and his entire family before that shoe dropped, when he was editing Passion. He was god in that town before it, and became an unprotected pariah from that point on. He'd always been an alcoholic and always cheated on his wife. But he had been protected from that being in the news. After Passion, they let him hang himself. He was unemployable for a long, long time after that. Only a couple of people in Hollywood stood by him.

@Madeleine Shaw yea, now that I think about it, that is definitely when it all came crashing down for him. At least he filled his coffers before being black listed. Not everyone is so lucky. They really did a number of hit pieces on him, though, and that trauma can't be undone. It's really unfortunate. I really liked seeing Mel in lead roles. Braveheart is one of my favorite movies.
