Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.
I hope you enjoy my content and ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate you subscribing to my channel and liking my videos. You can also find me on Facebook borderviewfarms and on Instagram @borderviewfarms

Very cool. Perhaps next year you could dissect a corn plant just before harvest. I would find that extra interesting.

I love watching this video every year. It’s always so fascinating to see the exploded view and how all the parts work together seamlessly. I bet that you could come up with a very interesting T-shirt design that incorporates the exploded plant picture. Thanks for all the great content and keep up the great work.

Never gets old Nathan, always amazed me how intricate the corn plant is, when it is nothing more than a grass. Thanks for your time👌🏻

On your 360 rain, use a 2 ft automotive 1 inch flex hose to stop the drop from breaking I do on the sand drop bleed off hose on my end boom. wind breaks my hose off on mine.

It's fascinating that there are so many ears. That means, if you could make corn not die at the end of the season, it would just keep going producing corn, right?
@BorderViewFarms
@BorderViewFarms 24 дня назад
Not exactly, those bottom ears may develop if the plant it stressed and decides it can't keep growing taller. Sometimes you'll see plants that were damaged early in the growing season stay short but still put on and ear.
@markpontes4457
@markpontes4457 24 дня назад
Maybe you can do that to a bean plant..
@angus4202

do you think seed genetics will get to a place where 3+ ears is the normal

What determines the number of leaf collars is it weather or genetics
@BorderViewFarms
@BorderViewFarms 24 дня назад
I'll say a little bit of both but mostly influenced by weather/ stress during vegetative growth.
