Trucking in Western Canada where I'm from is on the down hill slide. Experienced drivers are leaving the field and all we are left with is drivers that make you say where in the hell did you get your CDL. Getting a class 1(A) CDL is so cost prohibitive its not worth it who in their right mind is going to pay 12,0000 dollars plus to go to driving school its mandatory that you have to attend a driving school. That made me laugh about the driver dropping the driveshaft, you know that's Cat power for ya, I guy here driving a cat powered tandem axle dump truck snapped input shaft on the drive axle and pretzeled the driveshaft.
It's tough to find anyone decent these days who want to work but I'm optimistic, I trained a young lady today and she gave me hope for the future, we'll see.
Another great video, thank you. Your boss isn't the only one switching to auto-shift transmissions. My boss is doing the same thing for the same reason unfortunately. It's very sad.
Good morning mike hope you’re having a good Memorial Day weekend so far. I drive trucks in the Boston area right now but have been looking at getting into dump trailers and construction work. Was wondering if had any recommendations for places that might be looking for drivers?
The 880s can look sharp, but like you said, nothing beats the T800s or w900s👌 i seen its no different doing lowbed up there😂 making miracles happen one street at a time😆

Congrats on the new truck more company's need to take care of they're top employees be surprised in the long run also their top dollar actually will save them or mke them $ in the long run but so many are just worried about lining their own pockets......
Thank You for mentioning what Memorial Weekend is all about. This weekend every year is kinda hard for me, my birth parents had me. My dad went to Nam & is MIA, I never got to know him nor my mom. I'm very Thankful for the couple who adopted me. I concider them as my parents & love them much. I'm not asking for pitty or I'm sorry. I just want to say that our service people are great. The orange Peterbilt used to be a green Outlook truck I used to work at the company when he had that truck I used to drive it once in awhile just running around the block

I've been driving end dumps, belly dumps, side dumps, super 18s, and low boys for about 30 years now. Not to brag but this kind of work takes a special kind of trucker. OTR truckers would have a hard time getting around little streets like that or backing into right tight spaces, and going up hills with a heavy load from a dead stop. One of the fleet managers I dealt with from a company which was just starting, had a big pile of driver applications from drivers with otr experience. The smaller pile was for drivers with construction experience.
I totally get what you're saying! I was otr for 20 years before I caught a break getting into this business and it was a huge learning experience and eye opener but now 15 years later I'm starting to get the hang of it. 😁
Manual trucks just aren’t a necessity. I know it’s old school, and part of the experience that drew people to trucking in the first place. The noise, the smells, the shifting. However, Anthony is right, from a business/industry standpoint, it’s becoming irrelevant.
Great channel nice truck nice job.... You been driving awhile but why don't you shift the 18 like what it is.... boss should have just gave you the 13 ... The question is Can you shift an 18 speed like an 18 or are those it don't make any sense cause you can't guy... Island trucks for life
