I had hernia surgery 11 days ago and have been using all of the tools I’ve learned through long covid to ensure I don’t end up with phantom nerve pain etc. you’re videos have been very helpful Dan.

Dan, I have had struggles with anxiety and worrying about how I will feel mentally and physically in future situations so it creates anticipation anxiety. Can you please make a video on living in the present moment and feeling safety in the moment and ways to ground ourselves when we can feel the fear trying to take over?

Hi Kayla, since my pain symptoms left, I’ve continued to watch Dan, but with a slightly adjusted goal: rising negative emotions doesn’t mean I need to freak out. I’ve worked on teaching my brain it’s ok for the occasional negative emotion to rise up and then fade away. I’m not in danger. I’m safe. They’ll come and then they’ll go

Oh what a beautiful setting for fishing. Reminds me of the Lake that we had a cabin, when I was younger (spent many summers there, fishing every chance we could).

Dan, I have been listening to you pretty much every day for 3 years...its the only thing I do in regards to my "symptoms" and it's just to help me keep the right mindset. My fear is gone for my "symptoms", though the sensations themselves are still hanging around. I typically don't give it much if any thought at all, but there are times when the definition of insanity comes to mind (i.e. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results). I have been able to live my life and I am thankful for that, but it feels like I have just trained my brain to not care anymore about the sensations and nothing else....

Sometimes I feel the same way. And then I tell myself I’m just not doing it right. But I am still grateful that my pain is more manageable and I can live my life more…I’m not sure I will ever get over the fear, which is why I think I’m stuck. How is your fear level?

@@davidrager8813​​⁠I’m sorry I know this is hard. I wish I had the answer but I know that ALOT of it lies beyond our understanding. It’s almost like you need to cross over an invisible bridge (TMS belief) to get there (pain and symptom relief) and have faith you won’t fall into the river (pain) and get swept away. It definitely goes against our better judgement and our common sense. Good luck to you and to all of us 🩵

My fear level is really high because I have no family or close friends and the job market is abusive and the postings are fake. 😢 I'm focused now on the gym and getting plenty of fresh air & sunshine. I want to be thinner & stronger.

Hey David - We haven't spoken in a long while. It's great that you are living your life and not overtly afraid of the symptoms. What is your belief about the cause? Are you still concerned about a physical reason? Or are you on board with TMS/PDP as THE cause? If there is doubt, that can keep things lingering. Also, not being afraid is not always the same as feeling safe. Do you authentically feel safe and know that your body is perfectly fine?

I just took a day off work, indulged in addictive behaviours for a while. Then i decided to get a grip, did a little breathing, exercised, but mostly in essence just told myself I'd had enough. My symptoms reduced by at least 50%

I had a heart attack and the doctor says I am okay, but I am constantly on edge. He didn't tell me I had to restrict myself. It is not living. I need to stop it.

The fear loop is hard to break. I was doing great until I had to have two lesions excised and sent for biopsy (on Friday). My anxiety was through the roof, but I told my friends to pray for me. The morning of the procedure, I awoke with an incredible peace. It went very well, and now I am sitting here with 4 stitches in my leg and 3 in my back. The next hurdle is getting the results in 2 weeks, but I am really trying not to give into the panic. My chronic pain was through the roof yesterday, but I knew instinctively that it was due to the stress of the past week or so. I think the key IS to just keep doing life. Do the things that bring you joy, no matter how big or small. I heard something yesterday that really resonated with me. 'Fear is the mind killer'. SO true! It is also the 'joy killer'. I pray you will have peace and joy as you do life! 💖

I was feeling good on Friday enjoying the weather going to the gym shopping and then Saturday I slept for 24 hours - chronic fatigue knocked me out.

Is anyone able to clarify this for me? I have done the assessments, but when it says the pain “moves locations” I say yes because I get migraines that developed into nerve pain that will bounce all around my head during the day. Or does it need to be moving to different parts of the body? Thanks!

It’s month-to-month. No contract or commitment for a certain amount of time. People join, leave and sometimes return. I actually left the group at the end of April but am considering rejoining for a couple of reasons. It’s a good group, kind, supportive people and of course Dan as our coach.

You can come just for a month and leave at any time. If you live in the right time zone, you can go to 4 sessions a week. It's really good value. You have a choice how much you engage (or not) in discussions. Some people find that just listening is enough for them.

But if there is some physical damage or structural change, what then? I can tell my knuckles have changed after an incident. It's not some psychosomatic thing, or at least not 100%. Maybe one day I'll get there in terms of that total belief, but it's so hard considering I also have PTSD flashbacks.

@@PainFreeYou Oh yeah I'm definitely still fearing it. However I'm trying my best not to let it stop me doing things, eg house work, gym. I've been very successful so far. I'm also going to get therapy for PTSD. Eventually I hope I can reach an acceptance and indifference to it. Thanks Dan
