"It's not ours, it's foreign": how the British Challenger 2 tank works on the battlefield /hromadske 

"This is a very accurate weapon," says tank company commander Volodymyr about the British Challenger 2 gun.
The L30A1's sharp 120mm rifled gun and tough multi-layered Chobham armor are what set this British tank apart.
14 such tanks were received by the 82nd separate air assault brigade, which has been engaging them in combat operations for a year.
Although the Challenger 2 is considered one of the most advanced tanks, its use in a full-scale war proved to be quite limited.
"You ride it - you rest. This is not Soviet equipment, it is European, completely different," praises Challenger 2 Serhiy, the senior mechanic-driver of the platoon.
Ukrainian tankers also note the security of Challenger 2. One of the tanks was blown up by a mine, but survived.
At the same time, security makes the Challenger 2 one of the heaviest modern tanks and makes it difficult to use it on the battlefield in Ukraine.
"It's hard for it to ride because it's heavy and the soil can't withstand it," explains tank company commander Volodymyr.
In addition, to the unique Challenger 2 cannon, Ukrainian tankers received armor-piercing high-explosive shells, which are used exclusively for the destruction of enemy equipment and are inappropriate for the destruction of infantry positions. This makes the use of the tank quite limited in Ukraine.
"The machine is cool, but it is prepared for only one purpose - to hit heavy armored vehicles," summarizes the role of Challenger 2 tanker Volodymyr.
