You can smell the ''Games that you find on a videogame review channel saying that it's really bad because movie videogames suck'' coming out from the game.
By mentioning it, he raised the odds that it would match the video to the game. Especially since how many videos are there of this as opposed to Primal Rage?
The gore was pretty insane for this game. Showing wounds on where they got hurt. Makes me wish NRS or some other fighting game company would pick this game up and remake it
I think the back of the box mentioned this as "You can also play as the "MEGA RAPTOR"" Soy you could say they also implemented the size it had into the lore somehow.
@@rickydargence5948 True but it says Velociraptor when you pick it. Even the ones in the movie weren't that big and even then they're more Utahraptor like than Velociraptor given their size in the films
@@rosenrot234 I don't remember it ever saying velociraptor when picked. Honestly I believe it's inclusion is due to the actual Megaraptor bring thought to be a giant dromaeosaurid back then before more fossil evidence showing that it wasn't a Raptor at all
@AT Productions True. I was just a dinosaur nerd back then and even my dumb 9 year old self was a little confused. Granted the velociraptors in JP aren't really velociraptors. Velociraptors are tiny
"It's an EA game. That means we're in for some high quality entertainment" Said with all the enthusiasm of someone being forced to say that at gunpoint
@@TheDapperDragon I didn't happen to play EA games lately since I don't have current gen consoles. The last EA game i played was DA2 and boy... Was it a disaster. Mass Effect 3 was awesome though.
Max, *I* was that kid in the 90s who was obsessed with Jurassic Park, and played (and sucked at because I was only 8) the shit outta this game! I've been wanting to see you sit down with it for literal years!
Absolutely, we want a Jurassic Park/Jurassic World fighting game, with a great art style, a classic arcade fighting game feel to it, some combos that reminiscent of the MvC series, and some other dinos that deserve their moment, such as the Dilophosaurus, the Pteranodon, and Baryonyx to name a bunch!!!
Yeah dude this game was the reason why i liked dinosaurs. I was so young to remember the title but the gameplay and graphics were still with me till this day. And max showed me all XD.
Yo, i was scared *AF* back in the day when i was a kid. My brother intentionally always asked me to play this game with him because he knew i was scared of certain Dinosaurs and especially their sounds.
My brother and I loved this game. PS: If you're using an herbivore they just gore the compi's and humans. Personally it actually looks more gruesome that way.
Oh man, this game was my jam back when I was younger! Always hated fighting the Ankylosaurus, somehow the AI was stupid broken on that one dinosaur alone
@@gishathosaurus6828 The herbivores in this game are freakin' beasts. Especially the Ankylosaurus. The only thing that really rivaled them was the T-rex with its combo, which is easily the best in the game.
Seriously pls capcom. Although I get that Dino Crisis 1 was a bit more of the “wine” of the series. I’d get trashed with Dino Crisis 2 anyway....no questions asked. But yeah Warpath was my shit back in the day
To anyone curious of why the raptor is so huge, this came out before more accurate discoveries and reclassifications of certain dinosaurs. Megaraptor was thought to be a Dromaeosaur at the time but would later be in a clade of it's own "Megaraptoran" and would be closer to tyrannosauroids and coelurosaurs. The game also featured an unlockable Spinosaurus before its more accurate discovery (as well as before the 3rd movie) and thus drastically different to what we're familar with in both shape and size. But even those aside we have to remember that the movies had inaccurate depections of certain dinosaurs to begin with. Dilophossurus being half the size of its accurate counterpart, having those frills and being able to spit blinding venom. Even the "velociraptors" in the films are actually more akin to Deinonychus compared to the accurate turkey sized (wow this came full circle) velociraptor that was actually discovered.
That opening showing Alan Grant and Ian Malcolm 😂😂😂 I loved Jurassic Park growing up, but never knew about this game until recently. Otherwise I have Lost World on PS1, and used to have Trespasser on PC (clunky but still fascinating). I now own Warpath thanks to eBay!
Thank you so much Max for checking this game out for this legacy! This was my childhood Fighting game, and it meant so much to me. To hear you say its a hidden gem really made me smile with joy. I love your channel Max, Shine on!
@@trialzeez8742 That's actually a Mega Raptor, you can get the actual size in the "Museum" section of the game. That said, while it is a lot bigger then the actual raptor, they dId scale the dinos a bit for gameplay reasons lol
I actually played this on my brand spanking new PS2 back in the day. I played MGS 2 to hell and back and I needed a new game, saw this on a bargain bin and thought "eh, what the heck". HOLY. CRAP. This game absolutely blew me away at how fun it was, the sound was great too, I even connected my PS2 to my dad's sound system on the living room to play this, I actually kinda loved this game at the time :P
This game looks really neat, plus it's always nice to see games where you get to play as giant monsters. I was always looking for those when I was younger (and kinda still do lol)
As kid, I learned the hard way that its better to go through the survival mode and unlock the EX colors on the starting 8 dinos before unlocking the other 6, because the game would add them all to survival mode, and 8 stages is a lot more manageable than 14.
I don't know HOW but I used to own this game when I was a kid a long time ago. As a kid who was absolutely obsessed with dinosaurs and Jurassic Park... this game was a treasure. There were good jurassic park games on the ps1.
After completing the game with every dino, you unlock a low-resolution FMV commercial for the Jurassic Park Ride at Universal Studios, it was the best reward ever. :P
Man, you can also unlock the damn Spinosaurus in this game and it came out before JP3, and some hidden stages are cool too, one of them was the Universal Studios/Island of Adventure entrance. Used to main the Ankylosaurus, had fun with this back then.
I absolutely loved this game as a kid. I was that kid that grew up in the 90s and loved Jurassic Park. Carchar was easily my favorite dinosaur to play as. Never knew the game had crazy combos though.
I do like how they also use dinosaurs that were lesser known as well as ones not in the movie. Suchomimus for example I just thought was a Spinosaurus before paleontologists realized it has a fin until I looked into it. Its neat ^^
Holy shit... Jurassic Park Warpath was my very first video game I ever played. This game is what kick started my love for video games and I will NEVER forget that. This game is the love child of Mortal Kombat and Jurassic park both super iconic names made a magnum opus and in my opinion a hidden gem of a classic. I hope In the future this game gets remastered. It boggles my mind how we haven’t had a Dinosaur fighting game yet after warpath. I will always love Jurassic park warpath
Thanks for covering this game dood! This was an early PS1 title I loved, and kept bugging my local Blockbuster to try and rent it several times. Boy did I suffer a blow when I couldn't buy a copy when they were giving away their inventory when they went under. Wonder how much a disc is now...
Hey max if you're interested, theres 5 other unlockable dinos in the game, each with their own arena. The last dino you fought was the first of the 6 total hidden dinos (Carcardontasaurus) The others are Pachysephylusaurus Spinosaurus (Looks nothing like you'd expect) Triceratops Cryolaphosaurus Albertasaurus
FUCK YEAH! Being a huge dino nerd I loved playing this game, specially for the museum which taught you a bit about them dinos. Also, gotta love their gory wound marks. The alternate dino-skins looked great, as the overall dinosaur design and sound effects. Really makes me happy you consider it a secret gem ^_^
I owned this game. Loved it, unlocked everything. The 76 station is the easiest stage to use stage hazards. There's 2 easy ones, throw the dinosaur into the ball and into the gas pumps for extra damage. Suchomimus was my main, fast and hard hitting. You can also steal the prey/men from your enemy too.
