This show really could have just been a bad Letterkenny spin-off, but it was honestly amazing. Keeso loves these characters like they're his babies and it shows in the writing, and I appreciates him fors it.
Def nice to know that no matter how scummy the industry is true quality actors and writers like Keeso can get their stage to shine on and we proudly thank him proud canadians
@@thattrainerblue4859 the fact that Keeso actively searched for hockey players over industry actors makes a big point too. He doesn't want actors to "act" like hockey players, he wants hockey players to just be like themselves and they can make a good natural relatable show out of it
It’s a holdover habit from arguing with refs over every penalty on the ice. I noticed the high school kids saying it to Shorsey when he kept penalty boxing them. Really great little writing detail.
From my point of view, Keeso seems to have written this entire show as a love letter to old-school hockey. Several cast members are former pro hockey players and Keeso himself played Junior A hockey before turning to acting. I've also noticed about this show how much he highlights Sudbury in a positive way, which I thought was a very class thing to do, since that's where they've filmed Letterkenny since it's been on Crave/Hulu. Certain elements almost behave like a travel brochure for Sudbury. This show debuted two weeks ago in the US and I know about as many places to eat, things to see and do and events in Sudbury as I do in my own hometown.
@@Gigadanopoly and to take it further.. because some of us already feel the weight.... and realize that the rest of society doesn't. that's the burden we bare.
@@charlieposey5078 watch again. you clearly didn't get the complexity of the metaphor and symbolism that reflects on sports, family, culture and society. the entire show is a statement about the state of this generation. if you don't see that, you either aren't looking closely enough or aren't capable of understanding.. and therefore part of the problem instead of the solution.
My favorite thing in this whole clip and the one with Laura Mohr, Shoresy likes older ladies. The fact he thinks Nat is too young (even though they are around the same age presumably) and was "notorious for wheeling two of his friend's moms in Letterkenny" is just gold.
"They don't hate to lose." That right there, the fierce gut punch revealing all of a team(of any sorts) issues winning. Shoresy Is the best, he can wheel my ma anytime, cept shes 5'2" and easily 300lbs... So Yknoe Wear your lifting belt Haha
As an older vet in a sport post college, shoresy is speaking on something real. having a team of guys that like winning but don't hate losing causes a lot of bad behaviors and cultures that can drive down any program. Competitive sports are competitive for a reason
That’s why America’s financial system is so screwed up. Take lots of risks and don’t worry about “losing” because the rules will just get rewritten every 15-20 years.
For the longest time, my parents and a few teammates thought I was just an asshole that was too competitive. And then my team finally found a coach that vibed with me and could see that I just didn't take losing well. It's not that you don't get beat sometimes - everyone does. But winners are pissed about it every single time they come up short.
@@MikeA92485 no one cares. It's a game. That's why people can't stand people who are competitive about everything. Life or death is one thing. A silly game is another. Be competitive if you want to, but don't think the problem is other people not caring about losing. They just have their priorities in order and have better things to be worried about.
Brilliantly acted and directed. Tasya Teles’ expression when her character is trying to be angry but at the same time flattered. So subtle but just what the audience needs.
I absolutely hate this show for what it has made me feel for Shoresy. Like I thought I would go to war with Wayne K Dary or Dan, but Keeso seriously took his crudest character and made it into one of the best characters in modern, genuine, representative fiction. And the whole show follows suit, and it’s all just so fucking satisfying. So dumb.
It's great to go back and watch scenes like this between Shoresy and Nat after watching the last episode. It casts their interactions in a whole new light.
i hadn't noticed that until you mentioned it, but you're 100% right. he legit cares when certain ppl say "fuck you shoresy". everybody else he says "give your balls a tug"
I’ve rewatched this show about 15-20 times now and i just realized last time watching it, the guys fighting outside the club are all three Jim’s, thats why and how Nat was able to find 3 “tough natives”
This is easily one of the best scenes in tv history. The character and world-building is amazing. Shoresy going from the prick in Letterkenny to having that look of only I get to talk shit about my little brother like that, not you. without saying a single word. We meet the Jim's The exchange between Shoresy and Nat They flote and they don't hate to lose. Being part of any team like that drains your soul. you can hear it in his voice. fast becoming a massive fan of Keeso and his work. See Nat work out the math, then give your damn right look.
Love how Shoresy is at the bar watching that guy do that to Sanguinet, then the scene after this clip is him walking into the bathroom after the guy and beating him up.
The very clever implication here is that Shoresy is a scumbag, but he will fight viciously to protect his family. Sanguinet is his brother. Don’t touch his bro.
After binging the entire first season the day it was released in the US I immediately called or connected on social media with as many of my college team mates as I could find. This show makes me miss playing the game more than I already did...which was every day of my life.
I love thats its the 3 jims kicking those dudes ass in the parking lot lol such a great intro for the characters even tho at first watch u dont realize
Shoresy and Nat have a great relationship in this show, very much like brother and sister. Even with all their disagreements, he’ll say things like that to keep her spirits up. The running theme of the show of it’s not about winning, it’s about hating to lose. That’s why Shoresy respects her. They both know you can’t win them all, but it’s about instilling that “hate to lose” mentality into the players. Her promising to fold the team if they lose again is the same mentality that Shoresy has. “If you can’t win, don’t play”. That being said, Shoresys way of implementing that was to provoke the other team into a fight that would result in them having to forfeit the game 🤣🤣
correct sir. but i think there may possible also be a "sudbury big nickel" tourist attraction because sudbury is known for it's nickel (the metal ore) mining and exporting. so not only would it be 400.. but it would be a BIG 400. i haven't researched this yet, but that was my initial assumption.
confirmed. the Sudbury Big Nickel is a 30 foot replica of a 1951 canadian nickel. which is what he said "if i had a Sudbury Big Nickel for every time..." so that's a HUGE 20 spot. i would try and find out the actual scale of the 30 foot replica to tell you how big that 20 spot would be.. but i'm not gonna "do the math".. lol
fair. i transpose this to gaming, where i teach my kids the strategies, comradery and the need for putting effort and diligence in if you want results.
i actually say this at the end of clearly factual statements now, even if there are no numbers involved. it just stays stuck in my head. also, have you done the math on how large the Sudbury Bick Nickel is? and how large the 20spot would be in proportion if you collected 400 of them? lol THAT'S A HUGE 20SPOT! lmao
I love this scene because as much as Shorsey is a clown he loves the game and actually gives a shit. It’s like the moment on letterkenny where you see him skating till he pukes it changed my opinion oh him.
I like how this clip showed up in my feed and I watched it and liked it yet I have no idea what effing show this is and not one comment or anything says it. Sweet way to promote a show!
Is it just me or is Nat at her sexiest when she said I hate losing so much? I've pissed off girlfriends on purpose just to see that look. Here's another Sudbury Big Nickel.
Edit: it was @CUniverse that said it I think someone else mentioned it but at 0:14 is awesome subtle foreshadowing/justification for why Shoresy gives the bouncer the potty kiss later on. Only when that person (sorry, I didn’t look hard enough for your comment) mentioned it did I notice. What is really interesting is that in a way, Shoresy accidentally sets in motion the events which will bring the team together (bar fight, street fight, Hockey fight, trust in Sanger) that is worth 2 wins but also inadvertently leads to the final games missed by JJ due to the hockey fight recording and attention he is given by the model.
