@burgunbeerd: I actually like when Mae went up to people and said "Attack me!" it was like a challenge. Her as a noob alot of old shows / movies / samurai stuff does this. It's usually the ignorant over confident character. So her actually winning and in such a lame way ruined the scene. Had she lost there it would have been perfect. Then a rematch knowing the Jedi master's weakness for round two. 👌
@@MrTrancelator Omg are you serious? Leslye made an interview where she said how much she loved Kill Bill. She literally copied that and threw it in. It makes no sense in Star Wars. WTF is wrong with Disney?
It is so bad. It's not about if you can light a fire in the space or whatever people have been arguing about. It's extremely bad, like a highschool roleplaying game. So shallow, full of holes; the plot is everywhere, full of shortcuts and gimmicks. I felt like watching someone playing a daydream while they shower: "I am what you would call..." *unsheathes naked an imaginary sword* "... A sith! O:"
It doesn't help that the antagonist/protagonist is, probably, the most uninteresting 'character' I've ever come across. You cannot invest in a character that has no logic or continuity to their actions or morality. On top of that we have extremely poor acting and dialogue. Osha/Mae are not "characters" at all in fact, they are devices dragged along by the plot to do A, B and C.
is that really 'justice'? If so then any mass murderer can just have their mind wiped to forget what they did and all's good they can go on their way? hmmmm... don't think so.
I loved how he says hes not sure if he can do it first and then just does it. Like perfectly on the first try. Good thing the plot called for him to use this force power.
Apart from some decent fight choreography the worst thing I found about this series is that characters just act the way the story needs them to act in order for the story to move forward. Like the point of Osha from one episode to the next go from "I lost these Jedi allies, some of whom I knew, to this Sith guy who slaughtered them. He even killed a childhood friend with his bare hands by snapping his neck. Literally killing a friend of mine like he was some kind of animal" to trusting him enough to teach you. She isn't acting like someone who lost maybe the few people who she must've recognized gave at least two cents of a damn about her. But in order for the story to work she needs to trust Qimir enough, and they are clearly trying to do some kind of pseudo romance between them with the flirtatious jabs between them but these things don't seem natural and born out of the personalities of the characters but out of the writers pushing them together saying "They like eachother now!" I found like 60% of this series to just be harmlessly inoffensive but kind of dull. They actually seemed to have put effort into the stuntwork, after that part been severely lacking in the sequel trilogy and the Obi-Wan and Ahsoka series (Yes. Do center your main character around using two swords, a fighting style that in life action can't look good because it doesn't work in martial arts) But when it comes to the core of the characters. Apart from Sol who I really liked the actors performance (Never watched Squid Games so this is my first exposure to him) and he was easily the best part of the show for me.
One of the many things that bug me, didn't the witches or lesley say the two are only powerful together because they are two parts of the same person and didn't the zabark mother said because of that they need to stay together with the coven? Then isn't erasing her memory in the end and leaving her with the Jedi the worst thing to do? I don't get the show...
An amazingly relevant review! Subscribed! I think this will be my favorite show once I get space d!mentia and most of my brain's gone! On the bright side, this show has already lobotomized me, so I'm on my way there! The Acolyte's a great parody to Disney's Star Wars IMO!
They clearly just fucked up there when they wrote the episode. They prob meant to kill everyone but forgot that she turned to dust. And why did she. Did she mist herself so she can possess the Wookie or did the coven possess the wookie? And there are suppose to be like 30 something witches unaccounted for. Lazy writing.
@@LiamGoogle oh have they released proper numbers now? When I checked a few weeks back there was only info on s1. It's insane though and HBO even release BTS where you can see where all the money went
I have NOTHING to connect to this show emotionally. I have EVERY connect to Obiwan. Even Plaguies and Yoda can't save this hot dumpster fire 🔥 I still think the did Obiwan HORRENDOUSLY DIRTY
When Mae get to the Wookie's cabin and finds him dead, the Wookies wounds were fresh, but Mae left ol dude hanging in a tree, then ran ahead. So...Who killed him? Did Qimir run ahead, kill him, then run back to lead Mae to the cabin? And what was the plan after they got there? Was Qimir gonna admit to killing him or act like he didn't know?
I think qimir must've cut himself down immediately after being strung up then sprinted ahead to kill Wookie then ran back away for his dramatic floaty entrance behind the Jedi. But also I think we have already thought more about it than Headland ever did
@@matthewsmith1779 i think I say this in the vid, he fails and the force makes Anakin. But anyway I think that's technically legends so Disney will make something worse in season 2 of the acolyte
You guys obviously don't understand, it's about the significance of the scene with ki adi mundi and the words that he says to the council. It's not his age that's his problem. And now that Yoda shows up it screws all that up even more.
You guys have great chemistry. You really nailed several of these points why this show sucked. Why did Bazil crash the ship? No explanation ever. No logical reason. The continuity issue was just crazy. Did they write the last couple episodes in a day and not proofread anything? How do you show Venestra plod around on Chewbaccas planet and then fly back to the Jedi Temple and still have time to arrive on Brendock right after Seoul? And Qimir finding time to bathe and flirt in his man sith cave and then flying straight to Brendock. Seoul must of taken a long ass detour.
Technically Khamir, or whatever Smilo-Ren's name is, is a Jedi runaway. So he's not really a Sith, just an edgelord at best. Venestra however feels more like a Sith infiltrating the Jedi.
Also... Did the Cortosis helmet stop working? Why wouldn't Qimir just let Sol hit him in the helmet, short out his saber and kill him? Guess they forgot about that
People seem to keep looking at badly made stuff and assuming its woke. Stuff can just be bad, you don't have to attach the word woke too it, and usually people will agree more if you just point out why its badly made.
That was some fire - it completely melted the steel door to Osha's room AND it evaporated all of the witches' bodies... also - did you see the Smilo does not have his helmet on their walk to the ship but has it on the planet (and we know it was in the cave with them)?
Obi Wan is shown to use unarmed martial arts (Teras Kasi I guess? ) multiple times in the prequels and his show. He karate kicks Jango Fett. Maybe it’s an elective at the academy?
Let me explain. Brazil doesn't care about the plot. He is a simple minded creature that just wants peace and safety. Peace and safety as in not flying through ice rock belts. So he just does what he needs to stop it. Once they are landed there's no need for sabotage anymore. He doesn't suddenly dislike Sol, he dislikes danger.
@@YTpajamas dislikes danger but volunteered for a mission to track down a Wookie they knew was going to get murdered on a mostly uncharted planet full of hostile flora and fauna? Dislikes danger but chose to confront an assassin alone in an engine room instead of just telling the Jedi master? Dislikes danger but chose to sabotage a ship forcing it to crash?
Venestra is suppose to be centuries old. Cant remember exact but shes really old. Not sure why she died before the Prequels though. Like Im sure she could make another 100 years at least. Anyway, this got me thinking about another hole. So Venestra is super powerful and can sense Qimir without his helmet on. But apparently she cant sense Mae or Osha? She doesnt know where they are or heading to? Jedis then run after them and she orders them to make a perimeter but they dont know what that is so they just walk off together after Bazil.
Kennedy, Iger and the rest of the Disney board should ALL resign and find real jobs! Walt Disney the founder would have fired them ALL! He must be spinning in his cryogenic chamber! Look at the Disney stock as of 7/26/2024 it's at 89.93 and dropping! Before they went WOKE it used to be at 201.91 on March 08, 2021! Once you go WOKE you go BROKE!
I don't know. I found the finale pretty decent. Yes, the writing continues to be blazingly obvious, and none of the surprises proved surprising, but at least it wasn't anywhere near as bad as the opening few episodes.
You can't call it 'woke' when the underlying message is 'Side with evil because you can use it to your personal advantage'. That's basically a Trump commercial.
Sounds more like the culture war in general. No matter which side people are on, they point out the other sides failings all day long while brushing their own side's indiscretions under the rug. But that's the political battlefield for ya, and politics is evil, fueled by bad intentions, bad faith and profited from by lying, rage-baiting scumbags of all types. Sadly though its also a needed evil cause society would fall apart without politics.
enjoyed it, mostly. It was...fine? I loved Sol, briliant actor. I loved the character of Qimir I think he's fantastically acted as well. I like the almost explored ideas of the flaws and hypocrisy of the Jedi having unchecked power. I think the overall story just needed a lot more work, it feels like...the 2nd draft of what needed to be at least 7 or 8 revisions.
I like it because it's a commentary on current social and political issues. I can't help but laugh at the intentional cringe. I'm also into eastern philosophies which makes it easier for me to understand. They also know lore pretty well and it ties in very well with the rest of the saga. I don't think it's great but it was better than what the haters are saying. there's a lot of Star Wars fans out there that don't really understand Star Wars and are riding the hate train. "bAd wRiTinG!" even though half the lines are from the original saga. Solid 5/10.
