I love the photo of Amanda in the pink jacket. She really brings scale to the shot, which makes it look even more majestic! Looking forward to your future adventures. A friend of mine renovated a church into a home - it was quite the project. Looking forward to seeing that, as well. I do think Grumpy misses you. He has had a far-away, forlorn look in his eyes in his videos lately. 😉
The pink jacket shot was amazing. That should be on the wall. Like wandering in a fairy tale. Great way to say goodbye, but hopefully you and the gang will have many many more encounters in the future. Looking forward to Hardcastle and Gibbs, although it sounds like the title for a cop show or a law firm. And even more incongruous - you bought a church? The most irreverent gent I know bought a church. This should be really interesting. Thanks as always for the smiles and laughs - and the superb images.
Why?? Itˋs Color Science. Pink and light green are so called Complementary Colors. That‘s why the image works so amazingly. Besides the composing skills of Mr „Heartcastle“ of course. 😁😆😂
I am so sad you two wont be going on adventures all the time... but I pray the best for both of you and will keep watching to see what new adventures will be in the future. Love the picture of Amanda with the pink jacket amoung all the green mossy trees. Well done!
I have to agree with the others, the shot of Amanda is fantastic. Having a figure in the image gives scale and somehow emphasises the chaos of a forest scene, but at the same time brings sense to it (that seems so pretentious but it's what I felt). Hope everything goes well in Nova Scotia and that you and Adam re-establish your partnership soon.
Amazing shots! I second Mark, that Pano was "bussin" as my kids say. It could mean something entirely different than what I think it means. I don't think 40-year-old men are supposed to use that word. But HEY congrats on the big move!
Jesus Christ, this is worse than when the Beatles broke up…😬. Hope you have a great time renovating! Adam needs to get Heaton and the crew to come sneak a visit some day! 👍🤛🤝
Stunning shots! Glad to see at least one person in the group has taste when it comes to camera brands! You’re going to miss those guys but am looking forward to following you new adventure.
You will love the color and the dynamic range of those nikon files. The Z7ii can take 15 minute long exposure in camera with no trigger. Id say try one, and wait to see if Nikon is going to announce a z7iii anytime soon if you really like what it has to offer. I am still rockin the 1st z7 and its amazing.
As a Z 7ii (Z 7 before that, and over 40 years of Nikon F and D before that) I have to say, stop talking Z 7iii. Nikon still owe us better firmware. Nikon have improved the Mk i series' firmware to the point >some< feel Mk i 3.4 is better at a few things than Mk ii 1.4. It's simple. Nikon, IMO, have not been able so far to reorganize their firmware in a way that two separate processors to the fullest benefit us from these 2. The Z 9 works around that software engineering problem with two processors in one chip - but has dual I/O paths like two separate processors have. My take is that Nikon has (had to) made (make) priority choices in the development of the Z 9 and its firmware and placed Mk ii firmware development on the back-burner. I migrated from Mk i to Mk ii at firmware level 3 and have to admit, if 3.4 had been available at the time, I might have stayed with Mk i. To me the Z 7(ii) as a package is ideal in size and weight. Don't want D850 or D5 size cameras 99% of the time. If we look at Nikon's D camera development, it's likely for them to come up with a Z 8 with the Expeed from the Z 9 - more MP, less speed, slightly smaller. Maybe with the EN-EL15 battery. Well, MP are an "area" number and human perception of sharpness (detail resolution) follows "linear" lines. A camera with a sensor of 6,000*4,000 has 24 million photosites (these are not "pixels"!) and to get 2 times the detail resolution we need to apply 2x linear resulting in 12,000*8,000 or 96MP. This explains why we can be disappointed in the image "quality" improvement of what we think is a lot more MP and it explains our surprise about how good a 12 MP image from 10 years ago actually is. And, let's face it, it may be cheaper to significantly improve Mk ii firmware than to develop a new camera and in such improvement, they would significantly improve their competitive position and brand value.
@@jpdj2715 I have a 1st gen z7, some of those functions in the z7ii I will never be able to have. And why I am waiting to see what the next z7 has to offer, plus id get better deal on a z7ii if its not mind blowing; and if I can save $600 or more on a z7ii then hell yeah lol. The only firmware update I can not understand why they do not give us back is 3d tracking. Xspeed6 in a D850-D5-D6 has it, but for some reason they are trying to say it can't be done done in the z6/7 1st gen or second gen which is rockin 2 is BS, we want our 3D tracking back.
@@bigbrownmab189 - appreciated. About 3D tracking - totally with you. Can the D850 do that in Live View (because that's the only thing a mirrorless camera has)?
Ohhh, such a bittersweet video. You two are awesome together and I will be definitely be looking forward to Hardcastle and Gibbs. I hope you love Nova Scotia and can’t wait to see videos of your church renovation, how fun! The photo of Amanda looking at that magnificent tree limb is absolutely stunning. She almost looks like a little fairy in a magical land or forest! I don’t even know if I would change the color of her jacket. It’s just beautiful! Nikon is awesome! I have the Z7ii and I hear nothing but good about the Z9, everyone loves theirs. Good luck with the camera decision and hope you both are having fun settling into your new home. Nova Scotia is one of our bucket list places to visit!
moobs. MOOBS, is the word. sheesh.... what a bunch of nuts, except for Amanda... who looked lovely in pink... Some great images in there Gavin :) Hope you're getting settled out in the Atlantic Ocean.
Nice video and holy moly dude I love that shot... That is a HUGE Tree Branch lol .. Keep Up The Good Work Mate.. What L Bracket Do You Recommend For The Sony a7RIV ?
East coast huh? Don’t know where this Nova Scotia place is but if it’s anywhere near Maine, Vermont and the amazing New Hampshire (featuring the elegant White mountains) you probably have a trip through and see what you could see 😬
Good luck with your new adventures in Nova Scotia. I heard that you will be selling advertising space on the renovated stonework of the castle. Your patrons providing some suitable prose to engrave. 😛 All the best to you and Amanda 😀
You drove Adam to it. Or at least you should have, he'd have gotten there faster. To me it looked as if the branch wa s flicking you the Vs. I knew maples tasted good, who knew that also had such good taste 😉 That pano looked as if she had just walked into a wardrobe and that, just off screen, was an overgrown streetlight. A pure fantasy vibed shot.
Great images as normal, good luck to both of you in your new adventure, and look forward to following you along the way. One thing, having visited Vancouver island a few years ago, you must find it awfully difficult to leave
Come in handy that lot of dodgy books they fckd up.Would say good luck with the move but i spoke to you by email already and said that. Enjoyed the video mate speak soon
As always a gorgeous episode. I could really feel the pain between Adam and you two to say goodbye. Luckily there is the Hardcastle & Gibbs challenge and I can't wait to follow the new channel about the church project too....
Another great video, if a little sad that there won't be as many Gibbs and Har, I mean Hardcastle and Gibbs vids. ;-) Vancouver Island seemed like your perfect location, it would interesting to know the reasons for the move, and the choice of location when anywhere was potentially an option. If you would like to share of course. Private life and all that. :-)
Brilliant comedy as usual guys and Amanda! Shimoda are the best camera bag manufacturers, so thoughtful of all body shapes. They even thought of the Hardcastle somatotype 🤣 Now we just need to make Mr Gavin Hardcastle a Nikon ambassador! 📸
Good luck to you on your new adventure. It is too bad about your Sony, Sony does not make a pro body and they are not durable as seen by a lot of people who switched who are now switching to another camera brand
Great stuff Gavin, beautiful images as usual. Don't know if I'm biased but the Nikon shots were really top notch. Best of luck with the move, wishing you a happy life on the new frontier 👍
Oh my, laughter through tears, that was about the saddest and funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time. Right up there with Steel Magnolias. Lol Photos we’re fantastic. Will miss you and Adam’s shenanigans but looking forward to Hardcastle & Gibbs!! Hope you and Amanda are doing well on the east coast. 👍💖
Z9 is just too much a camera for most people. Plus now you need to wait for wopping 12 plus months to get one. If you're really going into that system, I suggest you start with a Z7 and try to get hold of their Z mount zoom lenses first. This helped me to save money for a lot of recent E mount lens releases. They're just that good. The new 14-24, 70-200, 100-400. If you really ended up liking the system, a Z7 body can be a nice second body.
Yeah it's kinda sad, the sheer entertainment you guys have provided over the years is irreplaceable. Adam looks pretty desperate 🙃. Looking forward to the series, I hope it flies (and entices me to visit Newfoundland). The rainforest of the PNW is truly spectacular, I can't wait to get back there this fall. I dumped the Nikon D850 and all my lenses for the Sony system (A7R4) and I'm totally happy. Might add an A7S3 for video or some other Sony like the A1 (if the photo gods smile on me). Good luck with the move and remodel.
Gavin, well with you buying that church, I guess its never too late to find religion (and my goodness if there was anyone that needed it, it would be you...haha...that was a joke!😆). 🙏 If you convert this church over, will you hold workshops in it? (Or, are you pitching to Acorn TV, the church be used as a back drop, and that instead of the long running series, "Father Brown", it will be "Father Hardcastle" who is a photojournalist on the side, and one can't imagine all the hijinks he gets himself and his parish into, with that Nikon Z9!)😉 In this recent video, you included almost everyone from past videos to wish you au revior, except one person you owe all your success to...Mr. Brent "all-I-do-are panos" Henderson! I am heart broken that Brent will not be in your videos going forward😥
The amount of work you put in to these videos is incredible. The photography is professional and fantastic, the videos tell a story in a humorous way yet manage to support the photography core content, and the out-takes make the viewer feel like they are getting the inside scoop. Great stuff -- thank you again. And the photo with Amanda in it is breathtaking.
Sorry to see you leave BC going back east. I thought i would purchase one of your on line courses. I believe it was for $ 28.00. CAD Imagine my surprise when my visa came thru & price jumped to $61.00
No f4 no uncle Grumpy, no Sony, will there still be flake dogs ? Not sure what to you do to your Sonys never had any trouble with my 4, did have Nikon have to go back for a recall and another for dropped from a small height and the screen shattered, dropped another form about afoot off the ground that had to go back for repair, hope the Z9 is bomb proof!
@@chrisroot7182 Thanks. The Z9 is the Nikon I have been waiting a few years for. I can't blame the equipment any more. Have an excellent adventure out east, it will be a lot more sunrise shots!
Mate, Nice farewell to the boys but we will see you all together again when you settle in. Think of all you buddies as free labour. Invite them for a photography session and get them to do the dirty and tough renovations. You can be Foreman Hard castle and make those slackers do some honest work. In Aussie we put on a slab of beer and voila cheap labour until the beer runs out. When grumpy visits makes sure he pays top dollar accomodation for your heritage listed church. Throw in a few blurred ghost photos for the ghost tours. Amanda can provide haute cuisine rolls at inflated prices. Amanda and Gavin's Notre Dame stays for the rich and famous. You got it made. Enjoy your Tardis trip to new places, new times.
It was worth the wait, that shot with Amanda and the tree arm was just fantastic keep up the good work and enjoy your new home. Cracking vlog as usual.
Sundays will never be the same again! No Mr Hardcastle to soothe away the weeks stresses!!! No more laughter in this house 😭😭😭 #savefotoripper #dontgoplumpman
Always fun videos. Well written and executed. The best learning has humour sprinkled in. In this case, the humour might be first with a little instruction slipped quietly in. Anyhoo, welcome to NS, my province. Do have have plans you're willing to share? You'll fit right in.
I dunno, isn't going from Sony to Nikon a bit of a step backwards? 😆 Canon R5 for the win! Gerrin touch with Canon and tell them I sent you. I'm sure they'll be duly impressed. That tree is crazy, definitely some laws of physics are being violated! Great images and great video. I look forward to the show.
I was shocked and appalled that Adam was dissing Bri Barnham's Carlisle accent. As a native of that fair City I'm telling him to 'Just watch it EH !' 🤣
