Today we take a look at The Helix: Home of The Kelpies
After looking on the website and learning the area is still considered a "NO DRONE ZONE" i wanted to go fly and complete the video ive waited 2 years for.
I speak to management to let them know my intentions.
It was a freezing cold January morning Zero degrees, but with know clouds in the sky and no wind it looks like a summers day.
Had a look at the union canan, The lock system and the many Boats parked along the way.
So... Is it really legal to Ignore these Signs? If the Drone is Sub 250g and you have your Operator ID, then YES! (always check flight restrictions via an app like Drone Assist) Can't be close to airports, Cant fly over prisons, but filming a tourist landmark in the middle of Scottish countryside? thats fine! :)

I have an overwhelming desire to throw a rock to see how thick that ice is- glad there was a sign! I'm not one for sculptures (there are plenty homeless folk who need those pennies more), but they are really pretty, I'd never heard of them before today. But then I live up in Shetland, we just discovered fire last week 19:52 PSA- THIS is how people should interact with one another. Folk parody Scottish people as violent drunks but in the most part, in the 40 years I've lived on this part of the planet I find we are some of the the most kind, helpful and respectful folk you could meet- the sky is almost always grey and we're too cold to get angry so we try see the best in things. Helps that when the wind and rain isn't shouting at us it's one of the most beautiful landscapes on said planet too.❤🙂
