The guard who got beat and got Burrow hurt in 2020 was named Michael Jordon. He was a 4th round pick out of Ohio State in 2019. The Bengals trade up to get him. He was 1st team All Big 10 and he had a well above average athletic profile. Billy Price was picked the year before Zach Taylor got there and injuries were the worst thing with Price. In 2018 he wasn’t that bad. He made the All Rookie team. The Center they wanted in 2018 was Frank Ragnow and he was selected right before they picked and the Lions got him. In a panic they took the next center on their board who was Price. Ragnow is an All Pro and one of the top 3 centers in football. So the Bengals can indentify good linemen be air they were about to pick Ragnow and Detroit stole him. That’s cool we got Detroit back in 2021 by beating them

In 2020 the Bengals offensive line was 31st in the league. It’s been steadily improving since then. PFF has them as the 13th best unit in football. That’s not subjective it’s based on their grading and is objective. Trent has never played guard. He has only played tackle. Volson also is steadily getting better. His rookie year ended with a total grade of 53.1. Not great but not just aweful. Awful is the 20’s 30’s and 40’s. Last year he rnddd with a grade of 58.9that getting towards descent. If he can get that up to 65or 66 this year that’s league average and we can live with that. I for one would rather have an average player who never misses a game and pay him 5 million a year tha. Have an All Pro guard and pay him 24 mil a year. With that extra money he you can make the TEAM better. There is nothing wrong with average guard play. The best 2 guards in the league last year one plays for the Colts and the other the Falcons. How is that going for them there? And the highest paid guard now plays for the Eagles. They are paying him 24 mil a year. We could pay Volson 5 mil a year and take that 19 mil and sign an elite DT or whoever.

Trent Brown is NOT playing RG. They were working on a jumbo package for short yardage situations and Mims will be right beside the Right tackle in this formation. I know it may have looked like Mims was at RT and Trent was at LG but I assure you that’s not the case. I thought this too at first and then I found out I was wrong. Trent Brown is a tackle. He will be the starting RT this year. Mims is the future starting RT. And Mims will probably have to start there at some point this year because Trent rarely finishes an entire season. He has played 3 full seasons in his 9 seasons. Many this will be the 4th whole season he plays. Odds are he wont make it an entire season. I think Mims could start on day 1 but I also understand to ease him in which is the correct approach in my opinion.

Agreed with everything you said took the last couple years of thought on the Bengals scheme

Those toss plays just aren't afc north football to me. I'm guessing that the team likes the idea of get their guy on an island to make a play, but the defensive ends in are division set the edge like nobody's business. Think we can figure out better solutions to our short yardage game

My football IQ is not Einstein level, but when you need 2-3 yards isn't that where running it counts? We always try to pull some stupid trick play in these situations and it makes me facepalm.

@@kylanmcnichols6525 I just wish our trick plays had a little bit more creativity in them. They’re too predictable, it wouldn’t even confuse a toddler. It’s like they’ll send a receiver in motion pre snap and everyone knows it’s about to be a reverse. We could actually learn a thing or two from the Ravens with something like this, come out in a pistol formation, fake a handoff to one of the backs or maybe even a QB read option mixed in there, then have a pulling receiver follow behind the QB on a rollout, have the QB pitch it to the receiver and then the receiver throws it. THAT’s the kind of shit I wanna see, something like that. Not this bland ass vanilla “trick plays” that we normally do

Why does it always feel like toss plays work for every team except us? 😂😂😂

Trent Brown mows people down in the run blocking game. In short yardage situations I would put Mims out there beside him. We have had jumbo formations for the last 3 years. Only difference is it used to be Hakeem Adeniji or Jackson Carman out there and now it’s Mims. Mims is obviously way bigger and stronger than those guys.

Joe Burrow has only had ONE significant injury that resulted in lost playing time....that occurred in a game. One. Think about it. All his injuries have been non contact, except the knee in his rookie year.

@@AustinCutter1 sorry was never impressed with Joe Mixon. Always felt he needed to make a decision and hit the hole. However that was never the case. Any contact and he was done!

@@TimCrabtree-j6t don’t apologize to me. I wanted him gone years ago. Last year I would’ve preferred samaje Perine to be our starting back.he didn’t do the best when he went to Denver but he showed more signs of life in our offense and could read holes. But you’re right it Felt like Mixon would get 1-3 yards every carry and run into linemen. It was horrible to watch week after week.
