the over the shoulder restraints in picture or more like the west coast racers at magic mountain. seat belt style and not the hard metal type... much better
I'm getting whiplash with all the "it's opening/it's closing"! I really hope this is the final update on the saga though. It's got sentimental value for me; this is the first looping coaster my dad took me on and started my love of all coasters.
Montezooma was one of the first rides i went on as a kid, so it has a special place in my heart and I hope it finally re-opens in 2025. Sucks to hear that you've been sick for over 3 weeks, hope you're feeling better.
I’m 33 now and was 11 when I first rode this ride was my first upside down coaster! I really hope it’s reopening and all is well with this classic coaster
Agreed. They shouldve gone to Gerstlauer no matter what. Gerstlauer is tailor made to refurb Schwarzkopf coasters as they operate out of the old Schwarzkopf plant. I've heard that SooperDooperLooper’s Gerstlauer trains are nice and that they ride super smooth. I don’t understand why they weren’t the first choice🤦♂
Honestly, to hell with the re-theme! Why bother? What? A new station and straightaway? Just clean it up and revitalize it for today with a new, comfortable train, and a smoother track and a LIM launch and paint it it's original color scheme and be done with it!
I'm not sold on the idea that the structure will be preserved, maybe they found a company that will get something done. I keep thinking Premier came up with something like a modified Skyrocket II or maybe even Vekoma or Zamperla. Either way I'm excited to see what they came up with.
I am excited to hear that this is still happening. I just wish they had it finished last year as originally planned because I am going to Knott's Berry Farm this August.
I have been so sick over this and had heard so many reasons and rumors about this coaster. I'm happy that Cedar Fair has finally found the right Co to redo Monte. Just wondering if they are going with Zamperla because of the new Coaster for Camp Snoopy and also at Cedar point that they used them for Top Thrill 2. ❤
I know people were panicking about the loop but... from the photos I saw, it looks like there was a lot of rust and damage on the old track, so I honestly think they started to refurb it and realized it needed to have its track mostly or completely scrapped and redone. Not only has it been in the weather for decades, but been through several earthquakes too. Now it's possible that the contractor made that decision without pulsing Knotts first, but I'd lay money on a re-track being a lot of the delay.
Good friggin GOD. I lay awake so many sleepless nights scared that Cedar fair would do the unthinkable. While I will miss classic Montezuma, I am ever so glad they have not taken the dark path of scrapping the ride altogether. Even if they have to rebuild a replica from scratch.
That's actually an interesting theory. From what iv'e heard, the loop was completely manhandled, so If they want to keep the original layout they probably will have to make a new loop, so if only the two spikes remain, and they have to remake 50% of the track, who knows if they will even keep the layout at all? It might be a more drastic reimagine.
Am I the only one that remembers when they first announced multiple launches? Where you could have a launch going one way and then the next train goes another way. Well, vokoma just announced their new coaster that fits the description of Zuma's retheme, opening in Australia 2024. So I'm not sure exactly what to sesrch on youtube, but maybe vockma Australia, 2024 rollercoaster? I've seen the coaster cgi in a video and pray that this is going to be a clone.
Not sure why they’re bothering improving this ride. It’ll still be the same experience - get shot out of the loading station at a pretty high speed, go through the loop, go up the one end then coast backwards through the loop, and go up the other end, and then coast back into the station. That was a big deal back in the 1980s - not so much now.
I hope the video is not indicative of the actual modifications. Would be nice Really hope they modernize the spike and loop making the loop bigger and vertical spikes. Wishful thinking i know.
I don't believe nothin til I see some construction goin on watch 2025 come and that old ride is still up untouched then it's another excuse and a 2026 release date🤦🏿🤦🏿♂️
I use to work there ...why did they have to change a classic??? ,.ride was always open to reliable,..knots use to be free...dude orange county all paint and stucco...can't leave a classic alone...😢 Sad ride held up for over 40 years!!!
