To explain MTI as briefly as possible, the difference between MTI and PD is as follows: PD - Using the doppler effect to pick up on the velocity of targets to the radar relative to the ground. It therefore ignores ground clutter. MTI - Basically standard radar but it sends out a wave, looks at the image, and then sends out another wave. It will then compare the two and see what has changed, presenting a change as a target. This is kind of why it is more vulnerable to chaff in WT due to how Standard search is modeled.
Opposite on my experience actually, MTI is almost chaff immune (or it will be deviated but the missile will still hit, that still counts as a success right?) while pulse doppler can just be undone by flying at 90 degrees to the radar (cone). MTI is literally a godsend and will grant me a kill 95% of the time with the R24Rs. I know more or less enough physics to understand doppler which is fun and I still don't understand why MTI doesn't work when the relative velocity is zero, but overall I think I'd pick the MTI, in game anyway, I'm not a physicist (ew).
I also find that if u lock a jet with irst or radar the missiles and especially r60s will track better and not so vulnurable to flares. didnt get to r24 so can you tell me some tactics how to use it?

The R-24R's are fine if you're decent with using the radar, but I prefer to go up to super high altitude abusing the Mig-23MLA/D's insane climb rate to loft the R-24T's onto targets below. I have numerous times slapped people 8-10km away in rear aspect due to the missiles holding so much speed on the way down. My climb profile is as follows (Take 30m fuel. Text is assuming spaded): Take off at a slight side-climb to the battlefield --> Climb at 10 degrees --> Fold wings all the way in at ~700km/h TAS --> Increase angle to 25 degrees at 0.8 mach --> Increase to 35 degrees at 0.9-0.95 mach --> Hold till 7500m+ (I go higher if I feel I have not been detected. Watch for phoenix launches the whole way up and prepare to notch if engaged).

@@chaos..... Notch works for any and all radar guided missiles. It just matters how tight their tolerances are. Since CW seekers are working off the doppler effect, they measure in velocity. Aim-54 can hold lock on lower speeds than other radar guided missiles in-game and also has inertial guidance. This means that if you do not chaff while in the notch, the missile will remember your last known heading, attitude, and speed, and try to guess where you will be in X number of seconds to either impact you or re-acquire you. The missile itself if less maneuverable, but the seeker takes no prisoners

The MiG 23 is a plane I like and I have seen one, National Air and Space Museum in Dayton Ohio. They have so many airplanes and some helicopters, two places to eat, and a big gift shop. If your in the area on going on a trip. I recommend this place for people who like planes too.
Yeah, I think a full commitment to learning radar to the point where it's second nature would have made that sunset match too easy for finding the enemy at the start. It's quite literally the largest game changer in aerial combat that the next innovation in modern aircraft was to avoid it with stealth. Easiest way for me was making sure I didn't have to move my hands to operate the radar, in other words hotas.
Quick comment about the radar locking beneath the plane at low altitudes. This is due to a phenomenon called multipath propagation in which case the radar waves being emitted from the enemy's radar are reflected off of your plane into the ground or into the clouds above, where they are then reflected back to the enemy's radar, causing false targets in the ground and/or way up in the sky to appear on the radar.
The SARH locking a ghost below the target happens to all missiles, if I remember correctly, it's cause the radar waves bounce on the ground, giving the target a fake image, identical to the true one
Hey Jet Noob, the radar locking ground is on purpose, RADAR that only uses pulse dopplar will get a return from anything hard (why chaff clouds work) and the radar can't see the plane in the clutter of the hard ground that is sending RADAR returns. Phased array radar doesn't have this issue, and has what's called "look down shoot down", which means it can lock on targets that have the ground as the background. Getting beneath a plane that has fired a SAR missile that has pulse dopplar can be a good way to attempt to break lock. Another reason why notching and chaff work is the same way, you create too much returns that hide the shape of the plane. Disclaimer, I may have gotten the RADAR types mixed up, please correct me if I'm wrong
I just want to point out that using landing flaps in high aoa and low energy is actually counterproductive since the flaps ad a downward pitch momentum.

MLD is my favorite and most played top tier plane. I’m more of a MiG fanboy. MLD works for aggressive and passive players. Yes R24R’s are much more consistent since the missile buff. Not to mention the majority of your opponents do not expect you to be using SARH with the MLD. I grinded the MLD the patch it released and still to this day, it’s still in the meta. I absolutely love 1v1’ing in it. If you can maintain that energy / get good shots off you can easily tear just about anything down. Beware of the mirage 2C, j7 e (after the nerf), f14a (competent pilots), kefir c7(competent pilots), MLA(it holds energy better but slightly better than the MLD.
I unlocked this thing recently and while using the r13ms stock i actually got some pretty nasty kills, they're pretty darn flare resistant and they feel faster(?) than the r60s
I'm still confused how my MiG-23ML R-60M Sniped your F-14 kill during the Severe Damage Tests, when the F-14 was flare spamming and the missile ran out of fuel 2-3 KM back from when I fired it.

Day 29 of asking to play the yak4 at 2.0 Start by a dive directly at q base that has another base clise to it ( 2 bases beside each other) 4 bombs for each Go straight to your base killing some ai on the way with your 7.62 Some planes will come on your back going in a straigh line with minimal evading is recommended and try to hit their engines with ur turret since they have weak engines a damaged one will lead them to crash i return to the airfield with 2 bases with 4 to 5 ai kills and 1 or 2 planes after taking off i go for bases if left but if not i will focus on ground targets cuz aa is the bain of this plane so bombing airfields is not recommended Bonus:do not forget to have smoke always on to piss the enemies 🤣
Locking the ground underneath a target at low altitude isn't a bug, it's an actual problem with radar systems of this era. Forget what the effect is called though
