Oh my gosh, this was such a brilliant parody! And points to them going out and shooting this video in public; I'm sure it was tough, but it was 100% worth it for the result! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Exactly!!! Plus that drives the prices higher!! The other day there was a brand new pair of Walmart brand "George " jeans at a thrift store for $15 when the sell new for $12.99 😅🤣😂
I just have to say that I love your channel. Your videos never fail to put a smile on my face and given the state of things in the world there is a real art and value to that. Thank you for always shining through the darkness!
I wish we had been in St. Vincent's when you recorded. We love it. I got so many complements on an outfit I bought there years ago. I always grinned really big and said. It was only twenty five cents from St. Vincent's.
Love the idea of thrifting, but i have a personal vendetta against goodwill after they were selling a used terracotta pot for more than a new one at home depot. They also try to sell mass produced mugs for more than you can buy them at hobby lobby or target
Shirley is my mortal ENEMY!!! Edit: I've literally had a few Shirley's take an item out of my cart..well, she at least TRIED to, lol. P.S. You and Jason are my kind of people, seriously. Love and RELATE to the podcast! My guy and I have been together as long as you two and same ages, and he could talk your ear off about chemtrails and fluoride, etc! 😅
I think this is my new anthem. I do worry about people walking around in the store barefoot, though. I know it’s part of the crunchy girl’s aesthetic, but those thrift store floors…yikes!
I live near yall! I would recommend freezing everything for a few days up to a week you thrift just in case there’s bed bugs or fleas on the clothes, that’s what we do. Especially at St. Vincent’s 😂😭.
She’s actually barefoot in salvation 😂 Unfortunately I used to buy most of my clothes at salvation used, but since Covid the prices are ridiculous and it’s always picked over and there’s nothing left. It’s sad 😕
The Goodwill stores in my city have my photo hanging behind the counter. I am notorious for finding things they had no idea was worth a lot more than they asked for. I found some Ugg boots for 5.00. They had never been worn. I didn’t want them but I knew someone on Ebay would. Same thing with several Hobo bags. I don’t buy to resale. I buy there because it is THRIFTY! But if i see something i can resell I will buy it.
All of my clothes are thrifted. I never buy new except undies and socks. Trick to fashion is learning how to layer clothes, and matching colours to both you and outfits. Recently found the most beautiful pair of purple jeans that fit like a glove, ignored for months. Turquoise, liliacs, and soft grays with a bold jacket = lots of combos. Love thrifting - but the store here is owned by a reg. S/O so the closest one is up to 2 hours away 😢
The original "no shirt, no shoes, no entry" policy was actually to keep blacks out of stores. Many of the farm workers only wore shirts & shoes to church, if they owned shoes at all.
😂that's not why stores had those signs, it was because of the hippee movement. Nowadays it would be more of a healthcode and liability policy @@Chelleme
I thought Crunchy Mom might be against the heavy fragrances in Goodwill, I’m pretty sure they gas everything to make sure it’s “clean enough” I have found many a dead bug in items. But I see Emily won’t let that get in the way of her love for thrifting! I do like to thrift but it’s still nice to get some new stuff.❤❤
I found a basically brand new sewing machine at the thrift store for 20 bucks! I’ve revitalized a lot of my wardrobe and throw pillows and saved a lot from the trash
Really love this song & vid, thanks for my new theme song, guys! I just moved from KY to southern IL (actually not far from y'all in Paducah) & our GW here in IL is always skimpy; slim pickins! There's another church run thrift shop that's very nice, but also very pricey! I used to be a reseller with 3 booths at vendor malls in KY & did fairly well at it, but had to give it up since moving into my RV...no room to do it or collect the little things i love, like clothes, so something like thrifting, which i loved isn't even fun anymore 😥 When i first moved here my daughter used to take me to the GW ten minutes before the doors opened to stand in line with the regulars, which looked to be older retired people. They all, including my daughter knew each other by name & would run, seriously, inside when the doors slid open to the new carts at the back. Funniest thing i ever saw! My daughter wasn't a reseller, just a GW addict & would go twice a day...not me, thanks, lol.
GW now has gift cards. One of the most fun gifts I have received. I’m in the divesting phase of life but I still need stuff. For me, I pop in every so often and don’t expect to find anything. (Lots of synthetics.) When I do, it’s such a good feeling.
The PROBLEM though is that so many people use toxic chemical laundry detergents that all the used clothing at thrift stores gets contaminated with them, and it never comes out. That stuff kills me.
My husband and I have a dream of going to Japan in a few years. We plan to pack only one outfit, underclothes and socks and thrift the rest when we get there so we don’t have to pay for a ton of luggage. I just hope that I don’t fall too much in love with the clothes I will be donating before we leave.
We're supposed to be learning a new song for church but this is what is going to be stuck in my head for the next week 😂 Seriously though everyone, including most employees, at our tiny town thrift store smoke and I can't bring myself to shop there because of the smell it will bring into my home.
