Bump the cert cap for non-membership players from 10K to 20K, with 50K still being the membership cert cap. Reduce exp required to gain 1 cert point from 250 down to 200 for all players, and give new players a massive exp boost to get them into the game much faster.

@@CMDRCyrious I believe this game IS on its way out so I think giving new players a bunch of helpers and boosts is the right thing to do. I hope they have something big in the works soon, maybe PS3 with a account linking bonus, maybe cert refunds or DB refunds. I mean you cant just give everyone all their stuff back for PS3 or else there would be nothing to grind for.

I disagree with 2x exp but i agree with base 200, that's 2 clean kills worth and it's very understandable while being an appreciable boost that would make the small exp boosts here and there matter more.

I said this years ago that double xp rate should be the normal xp rate. The grind in PS2 is insane!! I would go even further to say that 4x xp isn't to much. It shouldn't take hundreds of hours to get to BR 100. (And for fucks sake stfu anyone who comments about someone who made in like double digit hours. No one fucking cares.)

Sure I get it. But having a lot of time in this game myself, changing it to be way faster would make my achievement feel cheaper, I mean this in a entirely personal sense. A possible solution for example is a toggle that reduces XP to what it was previously and a series of Titles, with the metric being how much XP earned while on reduced XP.

As a new player this would help out a lot. The grind can be harsh starting out, especially when 99 percent of people you run into know what they're doing. Being able to unlock stuff like medkits faster would be awesome.

As a new player as in the last month, but already solidly hooked in the game. (I tried to play about a year ago, but it was so vast and confusing and the grind for certs was nuts I left) I can attest that buying a membership gives you rates thats feel enjoyable but still a grind in order to gain certs. Without the membership bonuses it felt like 5-6 hours of gaming to upgrade one level of my ammo pack let alone buy the archer. That felt like 2-3 days of sessions. Which there is a good thing to have a grind, but it feels excessive. Now with the membership the rates feel like with one good session I can maybe have 500-600 certs instead of 150 or so.

I wonder tho, I'm a br 90tr player (should already be maxed but lost my acc with br 100 nc and br 70 vs 50tr as a ,,prank'') but tbh I never much cared about the grind, I just enjoy the game with a sqad of people, we lead sqads and play the game together, manny of us are already maxed, I have certs lying around not used even tho I don't have manny things upgraded yet but the game itself is fun to play. Of curse the grind helps lone players but I must say ytbers should advertise sqad play more, as that's where the game shines, yes having 50kill streak as a lone useless infiltrator is cool and all, you can say how good of a player you are, but then thers me a player with like barely 1kdr, few kills per minute etc actually capturing the bases and being useful, dying 10 times in the same spot but laughing about it with sqadmates. That's where the fun is, the community and we should embrace that.

I think instead adding more grind an arsenal update 2.0 would be more effective at bring back old players aswell as new ones. I remember the first arsenal update , whilst not being perfect, brought many players to the game. I think the same will happen if they give the game another balance pass. They could remove dumb stuff like the unstable/kcap ammo and nerf OP semi auto snipers/rifles. Those two changes alome would bring many vets back. I could also see the devs adding impact ammo to all 3 factions on certain weapons. For example, I don't think a 200-167 dmg Guass saw S would be OP if impact ammo was equipable on it. Of course it would have it's magazine massivley nerfed to ~40 rounds per mag.

Id really like to see a drop in the amount of kills for directive weapons or just make it 5k for weapons of that type. Theres alot of things that could be done to drop the directive grind

THIS. I started my NSO charater around the same time my life fully changed and my schedule didn't let me play as much anymore. Shame to say, as much as I love the robos, I'm only BR 80 without a single directive weapon, and a lot of time spent juggling around. Bringing down that final tier of directive would be out-standing.

Better yet remove the outfit orbital strikes and nerf the construction ones. Also remove the flail and replace it with a glaive IPC that shoots havoc effect ammo with impulse (similar to oshur flotilla canon) .

This might have worked a year ago, but not now. The population does not stabilize due to double experience. I wrote about this everywhere, and almost everyone I talked to about the death of Planetside 2 in the second half of 2024 laughed. But the time has come and I was right. These are not “predictions”, this is an elementary deduction that most people from the community lack. If problems are not solved for YEARS, new ones are added, and the development of the project constantly changes hands - the death of this project is inevitable. It’s also surprising that Planetside 2 lasted so long in this situation.

honestly, 2xp will do nothing for things like auraxiums where you need X kills, not X amount of XP. It's harder to get kills as a (bad) player with so few other players.

I've always had the opinion that xp should be gain about 2-3x as fast as it is. It's just too damn slow to enjoy progressing through, if not for getting credits at least for getting to lvl 100. I've got literally hundreds of hours into the gamer and haven't reached it through a mix of a lot of competitive play and just having fun dicking around

I hopped on emerald a few hours over the weekend, and there were some descent battles going on. I think the 2XP really did help, and I agree, they should keep it permanent. I already quit paying for membership months ago, I would pay for it IF they had a substantial plan in place. But if the game is on the way out, I wont give them my money anymore so may as well let us have some 2XP fun.

The main thing needed by Toadman is to look at old footage, talk to the long time Outfit leaders, and try to figure out how to make the core gameplay compelling, fun, and balanced. Deployside really sucked. Getting HESH and ATG farmed sucks, but is counterable. ALso, a commitment to putting out balanced new weapons is essential. No more HLX crossbow w/ shatter bolts, no more Helios alt fire.

either people are put off so much by the progression grind that temporarily cutting it in half is worthwhile in and of itself, or people are so fomo sensitive that they don't want to feel like they're "losing time" or something like that, neither of them are particularly good mindsets to exploit for player pop. It's generally better that people want to play PS2 because they enjoy it and want to play it rather than getting ahead in the rat race. I wonder how the game with change if every continent was like koltyr where progression didn't matter and you can make whatever you want in your loadout

Missed my chance to ask in chat when it went life but: Me and my buds wanna get back to PS2 because we saw the new roadmap and although it wasnt alot of "new" new content, it looked promising together with the new devs! So we wanted to give it a go, without knowing really what we're getting into, last time we were here implants JUST got released, so I wanted to ask. What's the new grind? What should we focus on? Theres asp the prestiege system. Directive weapons that are even better versions of the starter weapons. Developing skill, this game took me atleast 4k hours to get decent at.

I'm switching to PC from PS4 and having a blast playing this game. Another thing to mention is at battle rank 20 you can unlock the NS Operatives faction which are robot people that always join the lowest pop faction. They have a Chimera tank which kinda feels like a magrider with tank controls (not exactly though) and the Dervish, a two person ESF that has high theoretical DPS but looks like a pancake in is easier to shoot the bottom of than a scythe

There’s so many weapons and cool stuff the average new player would never be able to use. They need make weapons and equipment easier to get, while still expanding upon cosmetics and other non combat related items. As a free to play player, I’ve still not unlocked everything on my TR main.

I couldn't agree more on your words on this. The veterans, like myself see no real end point of really grinding ones your done with most of the araxiums and ASP stuff. It just feels pointless after your done with that. If this would come into action i think a large chunk of players would come back for a second round, Because as you said. Why would i spend 30 USD/Euro on something that's just a reskinned gun? Sure i could, but just as you i rather just play then.

As someone who desires progression, I would set out to make the most efficient cert gain, using dailies and events without purchasing stuff (in my morality, purchasing xp boosts is not something I can support), but double xp and other freebies can make the per session benefits viable, which is big for me. I can average 800-1000 certs every 4-6 hours back in the day, depending on mission types and my pace of play. The problem is the player pop can only support peak times (and this was before the dropoff), so this would mean I could unlock a gun every 2-3 -play sessions which is a tall ask for those who wish for progress. Double xp made it a chance to get something every session, which is a big change. But how about using merit to purchase timed xp boosts again? Or can we go full crazy and go the helldivers 2 route and make A7/DBC and earn able item in game that can purchase anything? That would be something...

I've never found the grind in Planetside to be excessive but I know a lot of people do. Goals to strive for is what keeps me coming back. It's been 4 years, I finally made BR100 and unlocked ASP (slow I know, I've stopped sniping and that really helps exp gain). What now? I'm auraxing weapons and trying to get directive weapons. I haven't been around for so long I've got nothing left to grind for. The way things are going lately, I'll probably never get to that stage which is kinda sad. But I digress... For players who have nothing left to grind for, hell yeah, give them a reason to keep playing/come back to playing. I don't even care what it is. Just get big, crazy battles going and keep this thing going. Give them way more than what I've got, I don't care. I'll take 'em all on. And lose and have fun doing it XD For new players to stick around, giving them a ton of extra certs sounds like a good idea. There will probably be some people out there thinking "hey wait, I had to grind like hell to get all that stuff and now it's this easy?" But honestly, is a day 1 noob with a commissioner gonna take you out 1v1? Get people in the door and give them a damn good time playing a one-of-a-kind game. Everybody wins. They're happy, we're all happy and Toadman look like heroes and turn it into a profit for them somehow. One final thought. New players are the most important thing for an MMO's health. Sure, veteran players are important too but veterans will leave over time. If all you have is a core group of veterans and no new players coming in, eventually you'll be left with a dead game. I would love to see PlanetSide 2 grow and even succeed. It's such a unique game and to be honest far less frustrating to play than dealing with the toxicity and one sided matches I get in games like OW2. But it's hard for new players to get into and that I feel is one of the things that has always held the game back. NOT saying the game should be dumbed down or anything like that, but it should be easier for new players to feel a sense of progress and improvement within that first 2 hours which is all the time you really have to capture the attention of a player in an MMO.

So, one consideration I have to offer in this matter, is that I'm 'bad.' From day one, to today, I'm STILL a bad/passive shooter. In such, certs....are not so easy to come by. This in turn makes even 100 A-7 look effectively impossible. (Which it is, in my case). "Lone wolves" get hit the hardest in lieu of this kinda currency tune-up (that I 100% agree with btw Commander). Mostly sound logic here. Let us see if dignity wins out over money, on the higher-end.

Making a commisioner reskin 900000 certs is a shit way to combat that problem. At the same time you can add more weapons for 5k certs to give high end players more stuff to do. I agree on a A7 rework.

Addition to all that i suggest a remove of the level cap after ASP3 gaining 1 A7 every 10 levels 1 level takes the amount to reach from level 1 to level 15 and every 50 levels add a new title to it

As a new player it was really cool to level up in a 4x exp weekend but what they need to do is to actually optimize the game and get a better anticheat... That will keep players, new and vet... Anything other than that is useless

Yeah, so it's the grind all over again, and basically, nothing changes in depth. It's an FPS-MMO with some RPG mechanics. If the certs could be used to unlock some new game mechanics for the old players, that might motivate them to come back, to discover what's new, how does it work, what the implications of the new features are. If I leave the game, and the devs announce " Skins for certs, but not in a straight forward manner, though", I won't reinstall the game just for that. But it's me, myself and I, so maybe other may go for a hunt for some skin for their gun, I wouldn't know. 150 k certs, what a player can do with those, if there's nothing left to uncover ? In the strategy games, there are endgame features that allow players to reinvest their overflowing stockpile of resources in exchange for becoming slightely more powerful, something like a repeatable technology. In that manner, the resources do not sit still. They continue working to make the player slightly more powerful. It shouldn't work in the same manner for a FPS game such as planetside, since the difference between a veteran and a newbie would become ever so increasing. So, I'd ask, what kind of new system should be introduced into Planetside that would make veterans curious enough to discover it, still be accessible to new players at least to some extent, and without breaking the already fragile balance by making veterans overpowered ?

Sad true, but the game in its dead end, they need to start working on the PS3... planetside was around 13 year (2003-2016), and planetside is near that (12 years... 2012-2024), i think its the time for new sequel, with new graphics, misc and the good old faction on new, larger battlefield

They should give new players double XP for 2 weeks, so this gives them an incentive to play in those 2 weeks and learn the game. Also they should make the first 25 levels require less XP to reach that level, because I feel for a new player the game is very harsh for the first 25 levels. Also they should make certs easier to gain with XP. Now for Veterans your ideas are interesting! They could make also new cool comestics that you can buy with E7 or certs so Veterans have new things to grind and put the price high so it takes time. Also I believe that the special event directives like Halloween directive could happen more often with new stuff to grind

Like you said in the last video just keep the double XP running forever, remove the currency caps and maybe even drop everything by half price. The game is gone away fingers crossed maybe this way with the right amount of hype you can shock some revenue or at least recognition back into the game.

Unsure because 2x XP tends to burn people out, i'd say ISO needs a new system before certs do, a slow burn isn't that bad and with missions you can inject goals and boosts. I think 2x is a bit harsh, i agree with others that lowering what gets you a cert is probably the best way though. But everytime you say anything like this a turbovet comes from the bushes and says 'you can get everything in 2 weeks if anything it has to be longer' and then you get nowhere and im tired of trying to say it at this point.

Im not going anywhere ive been playing for years and years. After this long one nagging thing becomes the visuals. Always seeing the same things its not refreshed enough. Double xp ive always felt the grind was double hard in ls2..so im fine with that...just give me a high lvl something to chase.. after being around in ps games for so long in my life..i feel ps2 needs a fresh coat of paint.

The problem with the game for new players if you're already going to lose due to skill. How ever you need like 50 hours in the game, just for the bare minimum to get a class some what maxed out. That's a ton of investment just to stand a real chance again randoms

I thought about that too. Or I considered should the XP per cert go up each time you level up your ASP? I worry people will cry unfair treatment to veteran players

Double XP wont bring back the veterans. What would bring them back is something to grind/level up. Most vets already maxed out two ASP 2 soldiers for every faction. The only thing that might bring em back is ASP 3. Or Planetside 3 ....

I forgot to add: They could give us ASP 3 and maybe ASP 4 for endless grinding, and on top of it weapon pickup feature (which is what the game needed from the start imo).

Yes, double xp, make other stuff farmable, AND start hyping this game. WhereTF are the ads? You can't draw people in with carrots like double XP if they don't know they should be drawn in.

Why do they need to motivate veteren players to play??? You're a vet because you play this game alot cause you like the game not cause you've got some "incentive" to play
