Ryobi makes a decent 18V battery operated heat gun. I use that for all my projects even indoors.

I’ve used that and the Milwaukee one before - they work well. I could’ve found a way to plug in a heat gun if really needed

Those batteries are only good for about 3 years and they don't even stay on when the door is open. Not something I would do. I would rather have hard wired ones. Now if the batteries could be replaced from the top or slid in from the side without removing the entire sticky thing I would do that for sure.

I agree that it’s a miss to not have a slide out tray from the bottom or side of the sills to allow battery replacement

Hey Branden, great video. Do you know if the batteries can be changed on these or would you hypothetically have to buy replacement sills?

I didn’t take them apart to verify, but it seems like you could remove them and replace the batteries but you’d have to replace the adhesive. Essentially, they’re not intended to be serviceable.

@@brandenflasch Do you have any idea how long they would last? If they included a light sensor on them, they would at least not light up during the day, potentially increasing their life span. I usually keep a car 2-4 years, so if they made it through that, they might be worth it.

Wait, what? Abstract Ocean and wheel well puddle lights? You mean that Tesla doesn’t include those?😮 No wonder they make so much profit on their cars, they really don’t offer “basic” amenities most premium vehicles include. I absolutely love the Rivian puddle lights and my Audi eTron rings puddle lights. Can you do a video of adding the light you already installed 😅?

So I sprung for the OEM Tesla door sills like you installed so I wouldn’t have issues. So far only did the right side and followed directions to the letter. It works about 33% of the time and fails to light the other 67%. Decals still in place for magnet and have photos ready to show Tesla. Kinda feel magnet to sill is too far away or magnet is not strong enough. I’ll try to adjust magnet a bit more tomorrow but not confident that will solve. Did you have any issues? Your thoughts.

Mine seem fine - I wonder if your doors are slightly misaligned or the magnet isn’t strong enough?

Misaligned doors on a TESLA??? Is that possible? 😂. Actually very impressed with this 2023 build quality compared to my 2020. Virtually flawless.

SOLVED-Had to re-engineer magnet assembly with larger and stronger magnets. Old ones were weak and tiny.

Hoping to see more installs and accessories! Our least favorite thing about our m3 rwd is definitely the door handles. Super annoying when you have your hands full. Any chance you are installing auto present handles?

I agree that they can be annoying, but I’ve yet to see auto presenting handles from a company I would actually trust enough to put them on my own car or recommend.

@@joel89039 I’m very hesitant to put anything electronic from EVOffer, Hannshow, etc on my car. Non-electronic items are pretty low risk even if they’re mediocre, but electronics are questionable.

Brandon ones I got from testla and another of effort to take the original off but did buy ones from Amazon and works great and side note I enjoy your videos
