I just started playing minecraft again after 5 years, and I gotta tell ya, it feels so refreshing, especially when I tried doing roleplaying instead of speedrunning through the game. After having a blast in Kingdom Come Deliverance, the idea of roleplaying as a bailiff building his own settlement really inspired me, so now I'm playing the game as if I'm a lord rebuilding a settlement, taking the game as slow as it can be and have fun. Dan your original hardcore world started a 4 or 5 year Minecraft only phase for me when I was 12. I barely played Minecraft and never even heard of you until I came across the series. You and that hardcore world have a special place in my heart and a part of my truly died along with you to that vex.

Used to love and be a big fan of yours as a small kid. Grew up and ended up dropping a lot of youtubers such as you as content and media started becoming way too much for me as a troubled teen. Though, coming back around to your channel with such a peaceful, relaxing start makes me so happy. I think I've genuinely missed your voice from my younger years. So much nostalgia. I haven't watched Dan in quite a while now, but it's great seeing him return to Minecraft. I love these rules, while I don't mind the way Minecraft videos are generally made now, I prefer these kind of videos where it's just more fun to watch. Also, of all the discs, of course he got 11 lol

If i remember correctly, I started watching your videos when i was 7 years old, and you were the biggest reason I wanted to play minecraft. I’m 18 now, and distinctly recall you being a core part of my childhood youtube consumption, and you have since become a big piece of my childhood nostalgia. Dan you should use a mod called fullbright, it lights up everything without the use of a torch, its good for viewers and you cuz u dont need to use torches

Such a fascinating culture these villagers have.
Dan. I’ve watched you for a while now. I wish I still had friends to play with on Minecraft. I used to play with my step brothers ten years ago. But my dad split with their mom. They would be 23 and 25 now. My sister and I used to watch your Minecraft horrror maps and try to rebuild them and pretend you would play them when we watched you videos. I know it sounds weird. She moved out a while ago and has been struggling with her mental health recently. I still go on my xbox360 worlds where we used to play all my friends have been off for 5+ years. My sister is now an adult and we don’t see each other much but Thank you for making happy memories between us.

There's always something comforting about an OG playing Minecraft. I think a lot of the newer generation Minecraft RU-vidrs depend on hyper-editing to keep their audience hooked but in the case of Dan, he can do whatever he wants. The 45 mins flew by. I know hermitcraft is fast paced with progression in terms of gear and farms, but all the members still manage to make the episodes feel chill, so that might be a good one for you to watch

As someone who’s been watching Dan ever since I could form full sentences, it just feels right to see him just playing Minecraft again. With how much crazy is going on in the world right now, it’s comforting to know that we have a new OG feeling Minecraft series to come to without the threat of it ending from dying in hardcore

Quick suggestion if you want music discs have a skeleton shoot through lava onto TNT above a pit full of creepers when the TNT explodes they’ll drop a whole bunch of music discs.
I love that this is just a chilled Minecraft playthrough, I haven’t seen many in recent years, especially with all of the new updates to the game. This brings me back to how the old game used to be, and gives me a feeling of very comforting nostalgia. It was so nice to just sit back and chill watching this after a long day at work. For anyone wondering what resource pack it is, it's called "Fresh Animations". It works by default with Optifine but if you want to use something else you need 2 mods: Entity Texture Features and Entity Model Features. I don't know if you need both but I always use them together. Or you can get the "Fabulously Optimized Modpack" which includes all the mods that can replace Optifine.

He reminds me with the playstyle of Flowstate, very chill relaxed slow pace, the difference is that Dan is exploring while Flowstate explores and builds. I love the chill vibe, cant wait to watch the man of my childhood.
0:41 you can still move villagers but instead of moving in to a one by two trading hall you could instead move them to a custom built village of your own. Its a really fun project that even i did twice.

To stop the villagers from coming in your house, you can place the door sideways and the villager will try to open it but it is technically already open so they can’t come in.
I never would've thought of that. Now I can kick out villagers from their very own house and make it mine without having to blockade the door every time! Thanks!
If you're in hard mode, you can also use this trick to stop zombies breaking down your doors, because their AI says it's already open. (Same idea as trapdoors in mob farms)
