Detached silicon valley companies pushing their political agendas and narrative. did you expect them not to waste money on something no one wants or will actually like? Even the 'journalists' and influencer parasites don't really like what they shill for....
Yep, pretty much what I thought too. The rest is just whatever they pulled out of their asses, most important memes and youtubers from the year are not even there! And half the video is to talk about LGBT stuff and how cultures are supposedly stopping to be oppressed. Just plain political crap pretty much.
Hopz not really most viners actually loved making things that would be controversial now adays... but then the advocates hit and youtube wanted to turn all corporate.
Less locations, RU-vidrs hardly anyone knows, forced agendas and shitty music result in the 2018 disaster. Can't wait to see how they somehow make it worse in 2019, assuming they even make one
It genuinely breaks my heart that this is where RU-vid has ended up. There’s no creatives, just personalities trying to be rich. I miss the sketches and the authenticity of it all
I honestly think that is one of the reasons why TikTok has been blowing up. It feels like it is bringing back the DIY feeling of very early RU-vid and YT now feels like highly-produced old media TV.
They aren’t even “personalities” anymore just empty husks of the people they used to be or sell their souls to the devil and make bad videos for a living
They also just shot themselves in the foot by framing the whole thing as "what would happen if the people controlled Rewind" and then giving the people the exact opposite of what they wanted lmfao
The saddest part is, RU-vid and its executives probably concluded that the millions of downvotes are from _"alt-right trolls"_ and actually thinks they nailed Rewind this year.
*Exclusively youtubers, they do have channels, but some of them are not as impactful as a certian person who wasn't invited... And the rest are litteraly unknown
You never know. Could have been the group that put it together longed for the old days & knew the approving executives were so clueless they'd never see it right before their own eyes.
@Rekken and Yu Yea yea just keep trashtalking... I can't wait for next rewind, to prove you were wrong! OF COURSE THEY CAN DO WORSE! I still believe in RU-vid if you don't... 😌
More like in a comatose state where all we can do is grieve for the good old times. If Google didn't buy RU-vid, I bet Microsoft would have. If either of them hadn't bought RU-vid, I bet Yahoo!, Facebook, or Myspace would have.
I wonder when RU-vid will understand how lost they are. They successfully produced the most hated video on the site. Maybe karma for all the crap they have been landing on producers for the last few years.
Its kinda hilarious though.. "Give a moment to the people who put aside their differences" - Meanwhile in the youtube comment sections. Either they have no clue what's going on or they are trying their best to suppress/ignore it to death, i'm guessing the latter.
Julia Mimi or its that youtube is so disconnected from there creators that they ignore almost everything big this year to force stream celebrities and diversity in a video that’s supposed to be about celebrating this year in youtube.
*Do people not know that the dead man Logan filmed wasn't even real? It was an actor & Matty Debunk exposed this so Logan actually didn't do anything wronh coz it's fake...*
What i dont understand, these youtubers who were not mentioned should do their own! Rewind! Put in on pewdiepie channel and that would be the ultimate frrruck u to RU-vid
RU-vid doesn't put RU-vidrs in their RU-vid rewind. They put celebrities, twitch streamers and the same people year after year. At least there was plenty of animators
That girl in the cart hasn't uploaded in almost a year and superwoman took a break for mental problems then pushed her merch about how "humble she was" i think we can all agree youtube rewind was full of top notch youtubers
@@flossyjay7280 the use of the word 'gay' was unnecessary and hateful towards gay people. Now I understand there's free speech and all but there's other words that would convey the meaning better, and would not offend a mass amount of people. I would greatly appreciate if you consider changing the word gay to something else.
It looked to me like one of the dysfunctional chicken dances from the original "Arrested Development" series. I wonder if Fortnite lifted it from that. I feel like Arrested Development parodies are more John Oliver's speed.
Funny how that’s almost directly, RIGHT before YoTube went to shit in many ways... unfair, stupid, and unannounced major changes to the algorithm and site design that everyone hated, the beginning of “fascist China RU-vid” where they censor those they disagree with, constant pressure to force 50% diversity hires when the pool of women in tech, for example, is 1/20 that of men and it’s literally impossible to meet the “sexist/racist’’ quotas, and obviously extremely unfair... the list goes on. She’s cancer and an embarrassment to women CEOs and directly damaging women’s rights by being outlandish and extremist (and directly, unabashedly promoting dis-equality as the new goal of feminism, because diversity quotas are nothing but racism and sexism in policy form, like Harvard only allowing a certain number of Asians into the school so they don’t dominate the student population), and causing the other side to backlash. UGH!
Remember when the biggest RU-vidr on the platform and the face of the company made anti-Semitic jokes and went around using the 'N' word which eventually led to the Adpocalypse and RU-vid becoming super-PG? Honestly, why isn't anyone calling out PewDiePie for ruining RU-vid for everyone else?
That’s what happens when you put a Jew at the head of something. They’ll try to work in their agenda into it. Even my boy h3h3, he’s been a sneaky Jew from time to time. He had that money grab mobile app, but I can’t blame him
@Andy Gygi for gay people lol its nice for us to see gay people getting recognized because we are usually not acknowledged.. is that really hard to understand?
Yeah it was out of place as fuck... I love drag and I love trixie and katya but they could’ve just addressed the entire lgbt community instead of only drag queens..
the two drag queens that they show have a very popular RU-vid series and I think they were just trying to relate it back to RU-vid.. it’s not really the drag community’s fault that they put it in the script next to much more serious issues though
This video has aged very well for 2018. Hard to believe it's been almost a year and still nothing has changed with youtube rewind 2019. Great moves Ethan keep it up. Proud of you.
I recognize Ninja, but only because he has that hair and I've seen him in memes where he loses control and screams at people. Also, I might see Lele "I'm latina!" Pons on the right, but I'm not sure, cause the image has been photoshopped/filtered to death, and it mostly looks like a generic instagram "comedian" girl, so it really could be anybody. Edit: Why is that one guy cosplaying as Johnny Depp?
all the raunchy youtubers need to make a youtube rewind. we need one with codyko, h3h3, idubbbz, danny gonzalez, & more. GMM even stepped out of youtube rewind bc it’s cringey and they’re literally in their 40s in a PG show. we want a youtube rewind with good youtubers!!!
@@aoifek9709 holy shit.. Thats so sad... Kinda funny how white guys are in minority in rewind, but they are biggest group on the yt... It feels like so wrong......
Because collaborations are supposed to be FUN, which the rewind ultimately lacks completely. Everyone there was just working for a paycheck, not having fun making videos with friends.
@@guidetoanything if im not mistaken from emma blackery's video about the last rewind she did (2016? 15?) They didnt get paid. They were there standing in the cold waiting to pour and play with slime in the middle of nowhere and she said they weren't being paid for it. It was voluntary.
@@Dany_lop Damn that's even worse, I figured at least the youtubers were paid to be in it. I would assume with things like the 2012-2013 ones they were fun and youtube just covered production so people volunteered and were fine with it so they just kept it that way.
The bit with Ethan playing with the tissues made me actually come to tears from laughter. I don't know why but his physical comedy resonates with the little kid in me.
This years rewind was so ironic. On the one hand, they're emphasizing *diversity* and basically saying _"everyone is a part, no matter how strange you are"_ , and _"It takes a lot of bravery to be that vulnurable"_ . On the other; they actually play it extremely safely to make themselves invulnerable, and only show the mainstream shit.
Also, the fricking people started narrating shit for forever... Instead of just featuring the people they were talking about... Tell a story through music and video instead of just TALKING.
I do enjoy the commentators that call out all the bullshit, though, so I shouldn't have said ALL RU-vidrs. They bring some needed sanity to this fucked up world. It keeps me hopeful.
The 2013 rewind came out when i was 16, and i still was very new to online content. I consider it as the era in between my childhood and my adulthood, so it's a little bit nostalgic. I remember youtube SO MUCH different back then, and it was different. I remember the rewind to be amazing, and listened to the songs in it on repeat for months. But i'm used to the companies that gave me my childhood deteriorating, youtube's not only feel natural, it was expected. Most of the things/people/content i ever knew have been going downwards untill they lost all my respect, but that just means i get to cherish the ones that keep improving even today, a lot more.
