shop Dirt Perfect www.dirtperfec... Been working on this truck for weeks and its finally time to paint the cab. Do i have the skills to make it look good #dirtperfect #custompaint #ltdan #dieselbrothers
Looking sharp guys. I have plans on paint my son's 1976 dodge truck Leukemia orange as was my son Joe's wishes. He passed away 6 years ago at 19 years old with Leukemia. He said to me, Dad make my truck shine to bring awareness for cancer and use his truck in parades and car shows. Keep up the great work guys. Thank you for the great tips.
Sorry for your loss. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to lose someone so precious at such a young age! Will you have RU-vid video of the truck in the parade(s)?
@@pnwRC. we have Facebook Paige. Joe's Hope Foundation Inc. Is what it's called. We named it after my son Joe. We do fundraiser events every year to raise money for people in need and all cancer research. We do film our events on our Facebook page. We are working on getting a RU-vid channel soon. Thank you so much for your comment.
In 7 years watching RU-vid, this truck build has been one of the most interesting ones to watch because of seeing the details of how it's done but also because of the great interaction between you two guys and the really fine editing. And, I'm not exaggerating one bit.
I agree 100% It’s real interaction between real good friends, tackling real legitimate projects. DP does do a fine job explaining his thought process, and editing the videos well!
@@DirtPerfect ya. I gotta say as a new video maker on RU-vid. It’s really hard to make stuff that is interesting. You two make it fun to watch. I can only hope to eventually be able to edit my clips together like dp does. Trucks looking great. I guess I’m gonna have to make a video of mine.
A run is better than a dry spot! I have painted a few Paystars (amongst others) back in my young days, so I can say you paid attention to a lot of details. One detail you missed was you did not tape over the wiper motor outputs. Those should be masked off to prevent primer/paint film from filling in the micro splines on the cone shaped wiper arm adapters. Failure to clean the paint out of those splines can cause the wiper arm to slip on the splines later. Don't ask how I learned this. Overall, this was a well done paint project.
Haaaa I had to go back and rewatch!!! Those are comfy pants!! But I think between DP's croc's, and Hoover's "slides" I see a Instagram channel...... just saying.....
I did a 2 day quickie on my road tractor .... sanded it down and taped it off one day .... sprayed it down next .... in a garage with limited heat in January ..... turned out pretty good .... i just put logos an stickers over the runs .... and all kinds of chrome! great job!
D p Lt dan looking good black frame with the green body sharp got to say I have done body work and paint could have not done it any better ,it's work as big as the truck is again looking sharp closer getting it done ,
Less fuel stops with that slick n shiny new paint on Lt.D. Awesome Green/black forest camo. All people will see is the shiny bed going through the forest. Good job guys.
My eyes are bleeding to see how you spraypaint the truck xD Hey DP - yours is the dirt - my is the paint (I learned this job in all his basics ) ;-P Good that your satisfaction limit is so low on the paint xD xD xD For me it would only a primer for LT Dan - i would sand all off and start again - for me the paint have to be perfect xD xD xD Thx for showing us the process - love to see u all have fun out there Like allways - greetings from germany ;-)
Tell Jenna what Lt. Dan cost when she is really happy because you spent a bunch on her, somehow. Otherwise, if you pop off first, Lt Dan will be a huge bargain when they auction off your stuff DP! The guy who buys it will know! 8-))
Thank you for teaching me what all those marks are for on those paint cups. I have mixed resi in those for years so it's not hard to do a 1 to 1 measure. But I always saw all the lines and never really paid attention to what they might mean🙂
WOWZERS! The Lt. is 👁looking👀 gooder with each episode. I LOVE that color on it.............green as it was originally meant to be, just a wee bit shinier, & a slightly different shade.
ya kno... technakally at 19:19 LT DAN COULD have went *RED....* cuz.... dude... it was ALREADY HALF WAY PAINTED RED AT THAT MOMEMNT!!!!!!! :) just pointingout it ;)
Hey Dirt Perfect. That K-9 was SNIFFING Your Camera PRETTY HARD....LOL....HAHA...Was You and the Man Behind the scenes may of been smoking those left handed Cigarettes on the way up there...LMAO....LOL....HAHA....JUST JOKING....Those pieces are in good shape...The cab turned out Great Guys. Good Job...Cant wait too see her done...Thank You for sharing..
Personally, I would go with the color of mud or dirt on DP’s boots! Camouflages the mud and dirt that’s gonna get in it! Nothing personal, work trucks don’t get washed every day!
When your ready for tires, check out feltz tire, he list on ebay but i picked mine up right at his yard here in WI, i went to 16r from 11r duals, so had to buy rims an tire. If pickup at yard, cash is king an gets you a discount, i pd 1050 for 6 rims an tires, an he gives you new o ring, then used ken at mv parts store, he sells air valve stem rebuild kits an new stems, he is by milwaukee wi
10:10 ''oh I lost a shuuuuueee'' ((was that reply???....() MBTS: '' *if you wore real shuez in the shop instead of crokz you wouldn't have that problem!!!!* ,,,,,,..... ???? '' lol hahdhhdhhahahahah lol lol lool made me laff
Slightly off topic but just went by a job site that is generously 120x200. On it is a Volvo 320 track hoe, full sized JD backhoe, 2 mini excavators, 2 tracked skid steers, 1 large vibratory roller, 2 tool trucks, 3 pickups, a water buffalo,2 18-20foot pull trailers. They just shipped out the double sheep’s foot compactor and the D4. Just can’t see all of this firepower to build a @&$@&”$& Starbucks in a small town that already has 4 of them within 2 miles and 6 in a 4 mile radius. Correction just saw the D4 LGP hidden behind everything else. Of course this is Northern California ( the Great State of Jefferson).
Both you and Aaron admitted to not being experts at bodywork or paint spraying, judging by this video when Dan is finally finished he`s going to look one smart looking truck, and that is allowing for the fact that the first`coat` of paint that you sprayed on was` inside out.`..........................something to do with the mixing??
I think the most enjoyable part of this video is watching two people do something who are completely out of their element. Is it Perfect? ,No..., Probably not.., but that's not the point and nor should it be.. For the naysayers: The truck was built for hauling dirt, it's clean, fully functional and it's all one color, that's all you need to know. This heavy hauler wasn't built for car and truck shows, it was built for a purpose to work in the dirt.., SO..., the bigger and most important question..., "Is this truck.., "Dirt Perfect"? The answer is unequivocally YES!!! Good job Mike and Aaron!!! 👍👍
Should wipe. Clean with mineral spirits then tac cloth, wear rubber gloves, don’t touch with bare hands. Hope you don’t have fish eye. Enjoying the video. Makes me laugh. Thanks for great content.
It always looks better after you squirt color on it. Even if the bodywork and paint job isn't 100%. lol. Hey, it looks good from my house! Seriously I think it turned out good Mike. When I was 15, my 1st vehicle was a 67 CJ5 Jeep, and it got painted the exact same colors. Dark green metallic, and black frame and trim.
What is the name of the paint, DP green ???? 🤔😁 Clear coat really makes it a vibrant colour, contrasts well with the MBTS black 😉 Nothing wrong with getting the younguns involved, getting them started to earn a living while young, my brother and I did the same 👍
Just so you know for net time, they make a plastic lip that fits on the lip of the paint can that helps stop the mess. I think they are about $4.00 like how you show the good with the bad. I do the bad and my wife does the good. keep up the good videos. you guys are great.
Now just make the driver's door red (omage to the 8500) passengers door yellow for the John Deere / Volvo. The fenders should be orange for the Kubota, and the hood red for when the wife see's the final bill!!!! Aka Patridge family bus!!! P.s. haven't had my mountain dew yet so that's why that idea is "out there"!!!
I think a boot in the gantry hook and up you go have help pulling the gantry around and around ! Drunken sailor mode ! WOW - Christmas colors - Red, Green and boot-Belt black ! [or was that the Red Green show :-) ]
I like the green you have put on the truck and I'm not a "Green Person" in truck world ! Tractors that is a totally different story. Looks like you found some good body parts and the round headlights with using the LED projector lamps that plug right in will put some "LIGHT" out front of Lt Dan !! You and M B T S are doing a fine job with the crap weather days !!
You guys have way too much fun, is that even possible?? lol The paint looks great from here, Hawaii. Another lol The Paystar i drove was only a year old in 1977 and it had regular duals on the drive axles with a tag to match mounted in the back, but the front had super large floatation tires in front. They were great in mud and 3/4 frozen swamp roads, but a bit dicey on icy highways on the corners, Wisconsin. Make sure your power stearing doesn`t go out like mine did on a corner. Thank God i was empty. I still had to stand up to turn the wheel back from the other lane, and thats why you always carry your own toilet paper with you at all times!!! lol
Very nice paint job. You can buy a brand new truck and see waves in the body .your killing it .she will be better than a new truck. Keep up the great job 👍 👏 🙌 💪 👌 😀 👍
the snifferpopo poo factory (poo factories is what my buddy calls em... ) smell that hammy sammich you had for lunch on the way over there on that gopro ??? LOL
I can't believe them paint cans don't have wire handles. Makes pouring a lot easier. Tip use a small strip of masking tape to mark your pour level. Put the tape above your pour level.
Good morning sir. It looks really good. It is a bit cumbersome to sand and paint. Masking is also time consuming. The fun begins when you unmask the object and see the finished result. I painted some cars and motorcycles in the late 70's and it was always fun to see what all the work results in.
Mike if you pull the strap back on those crocks that will make them 4 wheel drive put it back forward and your in 2 wheel drive. Thought you needed to know this.
