Great video! I love these classic shape boards. They had so much character and personality compared to the later popsicles. That’s the way skateboarding should be. Unique and individual to the skater reflecting the skaters personality.
I couldn't agree more! I always thought the shaped boards had more personality and more attitude for sure! Definitely makes you want to skate a certain kind of way and really get your hands on the pavement and on the wood! Stay rad! 🛹🐀
i met mike in dover delaware on a field trip. we are about the same age. he said let me see your board and did a ho ho on the street. it was awesome. nobody knew who he was yet. killer day
Mike V is awesome !! He took the pain in this sport for sure !! Great board you set up , I still ride an old 2005 version all the time.. Just got my Laser down on it !!! V.E.S. if you like the old boards..
Bradawls Bradawls are a woodworking hand tool used to make indentations in a surface before a nail or screw is inserted. Also known as carpenter’s awls, these tools resemble a small screwdriver but feature a smooth tubular blade with a round pointed end. They are available with flat, chisel, tapered or square ends.
@@Kelleon I don't know if it's intended to use as a file but that's what I do. Probably why I'm able to "file" right down to the wood without damaging the board 🤔
I got this same board, I like yours better. I remember in the early 90s I almost bought this as my first pro board but went with theChris Cook board with the bull.
@@radoldratit was , would be awesome if they came out with a reissue, so far I haven’t seen one yet. Feel like cook didn’t get enough love. He was a great skater.
Favorite VCJ graphic is hard to pick. I had the Tony Hawk chicken skull for my first board. But the Welinder Viking skull is sick and the Lance Mountain Future Primitive cave drawings are timeless. The tool you are looking for is an awl. I remember my grandfather giving me one for Christmas when I was super little along with a homemade wooden toolbox. Ice that ankle and rest up. Look forward to the next video.
It's a tough one for sure. I think my opinion changes on the day. I'd swear the elephant is my favorite but then you'll catch me staring long and hard at the Viking Skull or god knows the McGill Skull and snake was especially gorgeous at the time. Tough one for sure
Cool video..cool board. Do you think youd get bad wheelbite with those wheels and no risers ? And where did you get your wheel griptape roller thingy..awesome.
Yeah I think if I didn't have risers and skated my trucks a little looser I'd get wheel bite for sure! That's a MOB griptape roller, I got mine from Calstreets but you can find them at most skate shops. Thanks for watching! 🛹🐀
@radoldrat Also just want to add, you must be very careful not to remove to much material around the hole or you will end up having a hard time getting your hardware tight. You gotta find that happy medium.
One of your best grip board combos you have done in my opinion. It just flows. I love the OG boards but I also love nose slides and the two things don't always go together. Sexbolts is where it is at. Have a good time with it and as always, stay Rad Sir. Glad you walked it off.
The rails ripped off in that session too haha. I like how short the old boards are. I think it's because I'm so short and it makes me feel more centered haha
I had a bunch of PP Vallely Elephant in the past (at least 3). Not the best deck (too short nose, no much concave …) but anyway I loved riding it ! Feel confortable and "safe" on it. And it is an iconic deck, always remember me the Mike V part in Public Domain video. My favorite VCJ graphic is the Caballero "dragon & bats".
That's interesting I also feel very "safe" on the board and usually try things I wouldn't normally like a no comply in a bank haha. It's super stable for sure! 🛹🐀
@radoldrat they are. I bought the 8.75 for my son....I took it back lol. Gonna hit the park this afternoon and maybe film a little bit for the channel.
@radoldrat oh man congratulations! My son and daughter both skate and it's so Rad to share this with them. I just watched public domain with my son and he was so stoked!
Damn! This one looks sooooooooooooooooo good! That tool is, I believe, an awl. Traditionally used for making holes in leather (and wood)-used by cobblers a lot for punching holes for laces into leather shoes, etc.
