What a fun addition to the Axis Foil Line up. The 1401 ART PRO hasn't been out for long but I was lucky enough to get my hands on it in November. Please enjoy my thoughts and let me know where you might use or it or not use it. Dave.
Thanks again for a great video. I've been winging, tiny bump supping, downwinding and flat water pumping using the Anchorman. The 1401 is amazing for me at 90kg. Linking tiny waves when supping is so easy. Just got to decide whether to get a SF 1100 too instead of my 1050hps.
Another really informative video covering all the bases as usual, thanks Dave. I think I've made up my mind to get the 1401 as from all reports on the Axis foil riders facebook page the my 1100SF will do everything the 1201 will do.
Love this content. I got mine for lightwind winging @109kg, 6'7" This replaced my 1150 PNG, and now I am happy with better low end, but much better glide and top end. Once steady wind arrives, I am SF 1100 all day. Waiting for my Sultan Wing to arrive. What fuse and tail do you think is the best match for big guy lightwind winging?
Back to back comparison with the 1300 and 1401, the 1300 turns faster than the 1401, took me awhile to dial it in and stop falling. Hopefully an SF1300 is on the way
Hey Dave. Great Videos!. I am a new subscriber. Have a front foil question. Little background. I have been foiling for about 5 years; Started with Wake Foiling, then kite, and been winging for about 2 years (actually 3 but lost one year due to a neck surgery). Age 59, about 190 pounds. So I started with Liquid Force Foils, then Slingshot, then Neil Pryde and a few years ago I switched to Gong. The two systems I go back and forth with are Gong and Neil Pryde. Gong has alot of selections. My wing foiling set up is 1900 sq/ cm around (5 Aspect). I use this with the 85 mast. Use the Neil Prdye (1850) when I use the 75cm mast if the water is shallow. I just ordered a DW board (Starboard). 7'4 120L. Main use is for Lignt wind winging but I want to start Downwind riding too. Was going to order a front wing for this with a higher aspect (10.6) 2200 sq/cm What size do you usually recommend? Never tried Axis but I did try F-one and Armstrong and honestly didnt notice any difference where it made sense to switch yet. thanks. Looking forward to watching all of your videos as I progress too. I do have some SUP surfing experience by the way. Thanks again SS
Hi stephen, Given what you've said the 1180 is the biggest foil in the current newer line up. You don't always need a new foil to progress. Your current foils are probably fairly slow but if that's working for you then no need to change in my mind. When you want to start going a bit faster then consider a switch.
Excellent video, Dave! Thanks! I totally agree on what you said about the 1310. Which fuselage and rear were you using for dock starting? I went out in flat water yesterday and couldn’t paddle the 1401 up - but that’s mainly because of a thick wetsuit and a lack of practice lately. 🤷♂️ I used the short (standard-) fuse and the 460 v2 rear but am wondering if the advanced fuse and a skinny rear would have been a better choice..
Hi Dave, could you please let me know what is the true and honest difference between the 1401 and the Spitfirer 1180. I'm learning DW sup foil (not easy) mainly (60%) on a lake.with wind bumps. and (30%) on ocean and maybe 10% on FoilDrive on both elements. I would also use it with a wingfoil. What would you recommend me both? My weight is 68kg. Thank you
Hm. I hum and I shim but I don't him. But I do stick HIgh Modulus carbon in the foils I design for myself. I made myself a 133 span wing last year. doesn't look as fast as that one but we learn...
Do these art pros stay pretty neutral and speed? My learner wing, BCS970, would pushes up harder and harder the faster you go requiring extra front foot pressure. My current wing, HPS930 has this great neutral quality where even when overpowered and fast it stays neutral to front foot pressure and goes where you want.
