@@merphynapierreviews you’re right, I even SAID that when he said that. I was like “there’s a distinction to be made!” And then you said it and I was like “yep.” I’m on your side, Merph.
To try an analogy. It's the difference between someone who is pitching across the plate for the batter to take a swing at the ball and a pitcher who is lobbing the ball into the ground for the batter to get to walk to first.
@@merphynapierreviews Well, you won a single book, and he did better than you did, so it stands to reason he deserves some kind of prize. A watch (at least a good one) seems a bit disproportionate in terms of prize budget, but maybe something worth about 1.5-2 books would be reasonable?
So many iconic lines: Is this book I lied on. I lied too sucker. I don’t know. I love dinos so there has to be others. I wanted to humiliate you for not knowing your friend’s book.
For the record: i wasn't watching the screen when Merphy was describing the cover of Tress, and I got it immediately. So you did do a good job at describing it!
The fact that there actually is a Blade of Truth with brownish color and a woman near a sword. 😂 I wonder where he's seen it and how he remembers it in such detail.
"This was the book that awakened my love for the ocean and oceanic books!" Full circle Merphy Booktube Moment here! I read that book after reading The Selection Series (which I picked up after seeing you talk about them when you first began booktube haha) so to see you make that connection now, in 2024 was amazing to see and hear! I'd love to see you do a "This inspired my love of this and this" type video, where like with "The Siren" awakening you love of "The Ocean" in books, you discuss books you read when you first began that got you to where you are now. A Full Circle Moment for The Merphy Napier Booktube Vault there and I loved it! Great video as always! xoxo.
I click so fast when I see you post one of these . Your guys joy is wonderful and its just such a laid back time and way to start my morning . I also like that they arent all the time, just a nice little surprise every now and then and isnt over done
Korey's a photographer, right? The design, pictures, colors, and composition of the shapes are going to mean far more to him than the words, I'd say. The Hobbit guess was hilarious!
Oh man, all the wife faces and he can't see them. Lucky man. And hobbits are best known for their toes. I should know, one of my wife's nicknames for me is Hobbit Toes. Get that man a watch!
2:11 After doing a web search, I can confirm that 'Blade of Truth' is not only a fantasy novel, but that it indeed has a woman, a sword, and 'swirling brown colours' on the cover. I _would_ cry witchcraft, but I started reading fantasy books in the 2000s (in Australia - our covers can be different) and IIRC back then two out of three covers looked like that (some of the swirling colours were dark green, or crimson, or black; occasionally beige or cloud-grey, and often that meant the _inside_ of the book was even darker) What I'm more impressed with is that the book in question is #12 in a series that apparently started in _2019_ - I've no idea if they're any good, but that is enviably prolific, at least.
You are REALLY enunciating the "wh" in "white" :D And Daniel, don't worry, he'll read it someday. Also, you literally said "sea" when describing that book :D
