Bootcamp barely even works on sonoma for mac intels.. :( its time they fix that too

Bootcamp on the final Intel Macbook Pros for me was such a failure, I went and bought a Surface laptop just for the few Windows programs I need to use. The problem was mainly with the USB ports never really wanting to work for my software, which insanely, Parallels on the same machine did so better! Just imagining the frustration of not only native X86 Bootcamp giving USB issues (programming radios) being compounded by X86 on ARM through some form of roseta, dear god shoot me now. And I am pretty sure Apple doesn't care about selling Windows users Mac hardware, because don't they all only care about you being on their operating systems so they can harvest and sell your data?

It would be a miserable experience as Apple don't support DirectX on their M series chips.

What sucks is Intel was probably the most open the Mac Platform ever was. Being able to run The operating system from their biggest arch rival and allowed better integration and compatibility with Open Source software community/movement. Sure PPC got various versions of Linux on mac but compared to other PPC platforms it was still a bit of a hack with custom bootloaders and drivers. But with Intel it all just worked. But then Apple Silicon comes around and instantly locks down the platform again. There hasnt even been much success with porting a native form of Linux to Apple Silicon. Those ports that do exist need to either be run in virtualisation or only half work on the bare metal.

Parallels has a one-time-only option. You don't have to subscribe or upgrade if you don't want to.

Its limited to 8GB and 4 cores. If you want more you have no choice but to do a subscription. There isn't a perpetual for the higher tier versions :(

Microsoft had builds of Windows on ARM for over 8 years so Apple could have done this form the start

As I said in the vid. The fact that until now Microsoft didn’t take ARM seriously. Yes there was Windows for ARM but even now a bunch of apps and even the OS is not to par with the x86 version

Things don't work that way. Apple's SOC is crafted specifically for it's product and the OS is optimized for those specific SOCs. You can't just take an OS that runs on a computer & shove it inside a watch. Snapdragon processors are made by different people than apple SOCs. So in order to get MacOS on x elite you'll need apple engineers to adapt their OS to the x elite hardware which is not going to happen. Windows on Mac silicon is possible though as apple controls both hardware and softwares of the mac.

@@lalitsharma3137 of course ypu cannot "simply put an os on othes SoC" what level do you assume people are in? Bein arm on both aides mean the code bases for both are more directly relatable to engage in a ported version. Gosh

@@ChilenonetoRU-vid Still I don't see it happening. And the codebases are not related in any way and doesn't aid in porting anything. The architecture is ARM which is adapted and tweaked to suit any manufacturer's needs. The software runs on the chip only cause the software know exactly how the chip works. So running anything requires translations like the Prism & Rosetta but to run it natively you'll need to adapt the code from a fundamental level. So again... Not gonna happen.

@@lalitsharma3137 lmao you both talking outta ur asses. You don't *port* an OS from the same uarch to the same uarch. Apple silicon has a few extra instruction sets in their modified ARM arch so if you translate these instructions to the ones present on the snapdragon chip you can run macOS on it.

I believe I did say Windows or any other compatible operating systems. The truth is Windows is whether we like it or not (I personally don’t) the most popular operating system and the most used. So I’m obviously going to make my point based of that specific operating system

At $120/yr the cost of a new Snapdragon X Elite laptop will be about 10 years worth of Parallels subscriptions. Are you going to get 10 years of use out of a laptop?
