When you're going through the motions under tutelage, especially when you're a kid, you never want to do the basics. You just want the end result, which won't easily happen unless you learn the fundamentals. The old saying, "Playing Like That A Person Is Born With It, Or Gifted", No Matter what, such still has to be Nurtured, Refined, Practice and Learning and Applying such to Playing Any Instrument Is a "Neverending Musicological Experience(s)". Everyone makes mistakes wether practicing or playing or schooling or out playing for pay giging, or playing for free You Learn To Play Through Such, get into a daily practice schedule routine, but do take breaks. I've been playing various instruments for 45+ years now. "I was a music teacher and I never would tell nor suggest to a student that they would never be able to play this or that instrument or a specific music piece on any instrument, so wrong to do such as that" !!! I learned by teachers and self taught methods, ect. and just like anyone else, I'm always still learning, forever will be, and I also break the Purist Rules, experimenting to get from way back when to present to beyond . . . I tend to over post contents, so I edited my post here just for those folks who do not like to read long posts or others musical experiences not related to a specific thread. This thread is about "BERNTH", a truely amazing, musicological "Genius" , Cheers BERNTH !!! 🙏 Peace & Play 🎸On FretBro's and FretSis's . . . 👍😎🤘🎸🙂🇺🇸🙏 DDH 6-2-2023.

As teaching and learning is different from person to person some people feel encouraged by hard challenges and other feel discouraged. I don't have accurate data to claim that but I believe most feel discouraged. Also, about learning to play instruments, some people feel satisfied just to get to a certain "level" and that's pretty much what they want. You wouldn't see a pop artist doing arpeggios or fast palm mute picking. As a teacher I wouldn't say that kind of thing to a student and would be extremely proud and happy to see students playing amazing things like that.
